Just try again.It has been more than a month that I try again. Even more.I don't understand why. For other users, it's working, so, it doesn't seem That the Apple server is down. I am starting to wonder if it is not the hardware that has a problem now. And of course, Facetime doesn't work neither. Same error message.

Jun 3, 2012When I used the iPhone with new SIM card, it logged my "temporary number" as my phone number, iMessage phone number, and FaceTime phone number.When my real number was updated instead of the temporary number in the mobile carrier (calling someone showed them my real number), the iPhone still showed the temporary phone number in Phone Settings, iMessage and FaceTime.I corrected the phone number in the Phone Settings, and tried the instructions of previous answered-questions about this issue:
-> to turn off FaceTime and iMessage, then re-activate them, and wait for the phone-number-activation to fail (but for me, after several trials, I still did not have the option to moderate the phone number of iMessage).
I tried reseting the Network Settings. I tried removing the SIM card. I tried doing all of these things in different orders. I tried turning off-on-off-on-off-on-off the iMessage and FaceTime many times. I tried changing the phone number in my Apple ID web account.Nothing seems to work. I still cannot change the phone number in my iMessage settings.

Jun 24, 2010wondering if someone can help. here is a quick breakdown of events. received my new iphone 4 yesterday. went to store to have number ported. since i live in vegas and i have an ohio number, they had to switch the temporary las vegas number to a temporary ohio number and then had my number ported.
everything works fine except i am unable to use the visual voicemail. it says voicemail unavailable, unable to connect, when i try to log on.
Also, when i make facetime calls, my number shows up on the other persons caller id as the las vegas temporary number and not my actual number.
tried calling carrier last night, they were unable to help, so i have no idea what to do?

Jun 6, 2012I'm having bigtime problems with my facetime and iMessage.. First of all, I got my iPhone 4s unlocked through AT&T, but now I'm stuck with my old AT&T number.. It's my old number, under the "caller ID" in facetime and in iMessage, and it won't allow me to change it...So now I can't recieve any facetime calls and any imessages....

Jun 26, 2012This has been a problem posted by several people. Below I have a list of solutions that other people have posted and tried. While these solutions have worked for other people, they have not worked for me. When I moved abroad, I got a new SIM card and phone number. However, the number displayed under Facetime and iMessage is still my AT&T number and not my new, local phone number. I can send and receive Facetime & iMessage through my Apple ID, but not through my phone number. When I had originally put the SIM card in, the number under Settings > Phone said "Unknown" and I was able to edit it to be my new number. That did not change the number listed under Facetime.
Solutions which have NOT worked (some of these have worked for other people, so if you are also having this issue, you can try these solutions as well):Restoring phone (from backup, and restoring as a new phone; when I restore phone as a new phone, the old number disappears but the new number does not replace it)Clearing all settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)Clearing network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings)Power cycling (Hold the circle button and the power button down together until the phone turns itself off. Also have tried by first turning off Facetime & iMessage before the power cycle.)Turning Facetime & iMessage off, then back on (Settings > Facetime and Settings > Message. I keep getting "waiting for activation" on my iMessage. I can only send/receive iMessage from my email address, NOT my phone number.
And I'm not sure if this is connected or not, but under setting > phone > show my caller ID, the ON button is greyed out.
A little history & weird problems I encountered:
My iPhone 4S was stolen about a month ago (I'm still ****** about it).I did a remote wipe on it and I figured the person who stole is has thrown away the SIM card because the number isn't active anymore.
So I just bought a brand new iPhone 4S and a new number again. I synced it to iTunes and upgraded it to iOS 5.1 then I did a restore from my old back up. Everything was fine except for the iMessage. It shows "waiting for actvation". When I tap under Receive At, the email address is listed as well as my OLD phone number (the one that was stolen). It was greyed out and the status was "verying" which later turned to "error". I have no way of editing or removing that old number. When I connect my iPhone to iTunes, the phone # was shown as n/a on iTunes, but after 30 mins or so, it will appear.
So I did a restore again and this time set is as a new iPhone. The old phone number is now gone, but only my email address is listed. I can't input my phone number there.
I have done all kind of fixing suggestions that I can find online, but nothing works so far.
- Date & time set as automatic (I don't know why this matter, but mine was already set as automatic from the begining)
- Reset network setting
- Changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8.
- Restore to factory setting (from back up & as new iPhone)
- Turning on/off iMessage & facetime
- Sign out/in of apple ID
- Change location from apple ID
- Hard reset/reboot
And many others.
Is this an error on my iPhone or maybe the iOS or is it the carrier?
Any input is greatly appreciated!

Mar 28, 2012After switching sim cards in my iPhone 4s have a message about additional cost for Facetime sms activation and than still see my old number in the list with "verifying" status. Than in few minutes I receive an SMS from +44 7786 205094 with text:
REG-RESP?v=3;r=10fbab5f;n=+7985......(here comes my new number);s=024.....and etc.
And it is still "verifying" status and still my old number in there. If I insert some other sim card - activation is ok. After that my new one(was actualy working before in iPhone4) - again the number of previous sim card in "verifying" status and sms message in Inbox with text "REG-RESP.....". Same issue with iMessage.

Staying at a hotel outside the country my plan is in. Hotel has great wifi, so I've been iMessaging a lot. It stopped working last night, so I did what I normally do when this happens: turned iMessages off and then back on. But now it's stuck on "waiting for activation."
Restarted, did the DNS trick, let it sit for 8 hours. Still "waiting," no activation error message.
I even tried turning airplane mode off, but oddly, I can't connect to a cell network, despite being in a major city.

Jun 19, 2012When I create a message and I go through the contact list, I cannot see the blue iMessage icon in the list, beside the contact names.
I mean, after I type a letter, for example "a" I see the contacts but I don't see if they have enabke iMessage.
Then, once I select for example "Andrea" if he has iMessage the bubble becomes blue.
My question is: Can I see all the available iMessage contact? Is there any apps solving that?
