View 1 RepliesIt's has appears after a restoration. My iMessage setting stays deactivated. Or when I try to activate it, it fails. No error in particular. Just try again. It has been more than a month that I try again. Even more.I don't understand why. For other users, it's working, so, it doesn't seem That the Apple server is down. I am starting to wonder if it is not the hardware that has a problem now. And of course, Facetime doesn't work neither. Same error message.

iMessage & FaceTime activation unsuccessful and WRONG number!I have "Error" written and it's not my phone number specified and I can't change it!
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to activate my FaceTime, I get an error msg that says, "An error occurred during activation. Try again." I have a good password (I used it to get here...); I'm on WiFi; I've toggled FT off and back on again but I cannot get past the error message and get activated.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up iMessage and FaceTime for an iPhone 4. I have created an apple ID and set up the wifi connection but both show " waiting for activation" so when I select "use your apple ID for iMessage" but when I try to sign in it says there is a problem with my Internet connection even thought the Internet is fine for everything else. Does anyone know how to fix it?

iMessage and FaceTime perpetually show "Waiting for Activation" in settings. When I toggle these features on in settings, they both say "Waiting for Activation" beneath the toggle. Those goes on for hours, but it never activates. I have reset the phone with iTunes, powered off, done just about everything but through the phone at the wall.

Please help me!
I keep getting "waiting for activation" on my iMessage. I can only send/receive iMessage from my email address, NOT my phone number.
And I'm not sure if this is connected or not, but under setting > phone > show my caller ID, the ON button is greyed out.
A little history & weird problems I encountered:
My iPhone 4S was stolen about a month ago (I'm still ****** about it).I did a remote wipe on it and I figured the person who stole is has thrown away the SIM card because the number isn't active anymore.
So I just bought a brand new iPhone 4S and a new number again. I synced it to iTunes and upgraded it to iOS 5.1 then I did a restore from my old back up. Everything was fine except for the iMessage. It shows "waiting for actvation". When I tap under Receive At, the email address is listed as well as my OLD phone number (the one that was stolen). It was greyed out and the status was "verying" which later turned to "error". I have no way of editing or removing that old number. When I connect my iPhone to iTunes, the phone # was shown as n/a on iTunes, but after 30 mins or so, it will appear.
So I did a restore again and this time set is as a new iPhone. The old phone number is now gone, but only my email address is listed. I can't input my phone number there.
I have done all kind of fixing suggestions that I can find online, but nothing works so far.
- Date & time set as automatic (I don't know why this matter, but mine was already set as automatic from the begining)
- Reset network setting
- Changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8.
- Restore to factory setting (from back up & as new iPhone)
- Turning on/off iMessage & facetime
- Sign out/in of apple ID
- Change location from apple ID
- Hard reset/reboot
And many others.
Is this an error on my iPhone or maybe the iOS or is it the carrier?
Any input is greatly appreciated!

So, we get two 16GB i4's yesterday. Set them up and get them all activated. My i4 finally showed Facetime activated late last night. My Wife's finally showed activated this morning. We try a call, fails. Mine still shows activated.Head off to work, noticed I had no 3G for 10 miles. Rebooted the phone, grabbed 3G. My facetime has now gone back to "waiting for activation".On WifI at work, but still no activation !
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am from India and was using Vodafone earlier and recently took BSNL 3G micro sim card. My IOS is 5.1 and phone is 4S.Everything is working fine expect Facetime using mobile number(Facetime is working for my Apple ID)I searched Google for 4-5 days for solution and tried all options. Yesterday, I restored and installed as a new iPhone. So whenever I try to activate Facetime, it sends an international SMS costing me Rs. 5. But my iMessage or Facetime doesn't activate at all and shows the message "Waiting for activation" When I login using Apple ID, i can able to use Facetime but not using my phone number. I tried different solutions found on the internet but with no luck. The message is sent to UK number but I never receives any reply or any further message from Facetime.

After switching sim cards in my iPhone 4s have a message about additional cost for Facetime sms activation and than still see my old number in the list with "verifying" status. Than in few minutes I receive an SMS from +44 7786 205094 with text:
REG-RESP?v=3;r=10fbab5f;n=+7985......(here comes my new number);s=024.....and etc.
And it is still "verifying" status and still my old number in there. If I insert some other sim card - activation is ok. After that my new one(was actualy working before in iPhone4) - again the number of previous sim card in "verifying" status and sms message in Inbox with text "REG-RESP.....". Same issue with iMessage.

Are there any known issues with activating iMessage via wifi in airplane mode?
Staying at a hotel outside the country my plan is in. Hotel has great wifi, so I've been iMessaging a lot. It stopped working last night, so I did what I normally do when this happens: turned iMessages off and then back on. But now it's stuck on "waiting for activation."
Restarted, did the DNS trick, let it sit for 8 hours. Still "waiting," no activation error message.
I even tried turning airplane mode off, but oddly, I can't connect to a cell network, despite being in a major city.

When I create a message and I go through the contact list, I cannot see the blue iMessage icon in the list, beside the contact names.
I mean, after I type a letter, for example "a" I see the contacts but I don't see if they have enabke iMessage.
Then, once I select for example "Andrea" if he has iMessage the bubble becomes blue.
My question is: Can I see all the available iMessage contact? Is there any apps solving that?

Just purchased my IPhone yesterday and can't send out any text messages. I went into imessage and it keeps saying "waiting for activation". I've done everything that the Apple support said to do. Also what several websites have recommended. I'm almost thinking of taking it back and getting my old phone reactivated.

I can confirm my 4S and all my other devices are not able to activate iMessage after it is toggled off and back on. It simply stays stuck on "Waiting for activation" and eventually goes to "Activation unsuccessful. Turn on imessage to try again". All with no avail. get your engineers on this ASAP apple. More and more people are facing this issue. Devices that are already receiving and sending imessages are unaffected. However when you toggle imessage off and then back on, it does not reactivate. This must clearly be a ongoing issue with your icloud server from yesterdays outages.
