IPhone :: Mail Makes Sound When Set To None?
Mar 19, 2012I have recently been configuring all the sounds on my phone so that when I am asleep in bed I am not woken up by various vibrations or notification sounds. With this in mind, I also wanted to ensure that if I was called up in case of an emergency then I would still hear my phone ringing.Because of this, I don't want to mute my phone or have to remember to change settings each night (which is annoying on it's own!) So, I now have everything working as I would like with the exception of new mail. I have set the sound to none - which I am sure used to work. As previously this stops the vibration however now, it still makes the 'ding' when new mail comes in. Surely if I set the 'New Mail' sound to 'none', then this is what should happen. So, what am I missing? There doesn't appear to be a setting in the notification section for muting the notification sound. I am using an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1

IPhone :: Phone Makes Two Strange Sounds
Jul 15, 2010OK, looked at every app , every notification, every sound on the device and cannot find this. My phone makes two strange sounds. Sometimes once a day, sometimes twice in 5 minutes. No rhyme or reason. And after the sound, I check everything from messages, to voicemail, to app updates, to Ebay to - you name it, and nothing new.One sound sounds like :di-di di dih-goosz goosz goosz with the "goosz's" getting lower in volume and sounding gritty.
The other sound is similar, but different.Any ideas at all? I know if I go to the Apple store it will never happen when I am there.

Jun 17, 2012First of all iPhone is within 1 year warranty, so when I had this problem before I took it to the apple store and they replaced it as they deamed the rattling noise to be unfixable at that time. My new one has started doing the same HOWEVER this time it has slight scratches around the base of the phone. A 1mm chip on the back... they don't bother me; it's not what I'm getting it replaced again for, it's just the rattling noise when tapped, moved or on vibrate makes my model feel really cheap.

Aug 29, 2014I had to restore my iPhone, but the day before I made a backup.When its finished with the restoring process I get this screen on the iPhone:Â
1. Start as a New device
2. Restore backup from iCloud
3. Restore backup from iTunes. Â
I'v tried both restoring the backup again and starting as a new device. If I do that I'll get all my old apps but none of the information that was in my backup, photoes, contacts, notes etc.Â
I've located the backup folder, and I can see that the photoes etc are there, the folder is at 7Gb. Strangely enough each time I try to restore my backup it just creates a copy of the original backup folder.Â

Mar 19, 2012My iphone 4 has been dropping calls from my office for the last 3 weeks. I have a signal booster and the signal always shows 4 or 5 bars, even when it drops the call. No one else has this issue and my provider has told me that both towers in the area are working good. When it drops the signal often i will hear a noise that sounds like the camera shutter (click) then it kicks me out to the lock screen.

When I plug the iPhone in, iTunes shows that they are on my phone but when selecting ringtones for contacts, they are not visible. When I uncheck the option and resync, the ringtones are now there. Mar 28, 2010Something is wrong with the mp3 function of my Nokia N95. Last night when I loaded some new files into it, and asked the system to refresh, it took a long time, all the while showing a deliberating sign. I finally stopped it, and found to my horror, that instead of the addition of the new files, the size of the mp3 library had been reduced from around 1300 items to 50. The stranger thing is how come the remaining 50 remained--some of the 50 are placed in exactly the same file container as arranged from the computer-format.
I took some time to move the files around in the computer-format (as can be seen there, all files still exist), and got the result that most of the 50 also disappeared (from the cellphone-format), though leaving a title that canât be clicked open (like a company with telephone numbers but no one answering them, and a working place where no one works! By contrast, the first great majority to disappear leave no title). In a way, this makes more sense, since the disappearing pattern becomes less random and inexplicable. But some still remain, and the others in the same file container do not.
How to solve this bewildering and annoying glitch. (to my ignorant knowledge of digital things, it seems most likely to be a virus attack.)

Galaxy S6 :: Alarm Sometimes Makes No Sound?
Jan 8, 2016I have an AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge on 5.1.1.
A couple of weeks ago I slept through my alarm, at least that's what I thought had happened. When I woke up some time later, there was a notification that I had missed an alarm. It seemed strange, since I've never not been woken by the sound of an alarm before.
The alarm worked fine for the six months before that, and has been working fine for the last few weeks.
Today I was awake before my alarm went off. I then watched my phone screen light up with the alarm, but no sound. I turned off the alarm and waited for my backup alarm. Same thing - no sound.
I did not have Do Not Disturb mode turned on. I almost always keep my phone on silent, and the alarm has always worked. I'm using the default Samsung clock/alarm app.
If it's as simple as using a different alarm app, that's an easy fix, although it doesn't leave me with much faith in Samsung. My concern is that it's a system issue. Unfortunately since it seems to be a sporadic issue, testing the alarm isn't going to tell me definitively if I've been able to fix the issue. Unless I can identify exactly what is causing the problem, I'm going to have to buy a dedicated alarm clock because I can't risk missing an alarm again.
