this might be a simple question but: how do I disable that annoying long sound each and every time I receive an incoming iMessage? I tried setting the sounds in "message" but nothing changed. Can someone walk me thru the necessary steps to turn off the sound?

I have an IPad2 and IPhone 4S running the latest OS 5.1. I was texting with a 3rd party on my IPhone and was recieving responses back (all blue - not SMS). I was expecting a response on my iphone and did not recieve it in a timely manner but when I looked at my IPad the response was there. I waited around 5 minutes and still nothing. Then i dropped out of iMessage on my IPhone and started it back up and then I saw the text pop up.

For the past 3 or 4 weeks mine and some of my friends have been noticing problems with iMessage. We will send an imessage and either it will not send, or it will claim that it was delivered when in fact it was not. These messages do eventually get through, but normally seem to come through at 4-5am which is incredibly annoying. I assume this is a problem with the apple servers, as text messages work fine. All other forms of data transfer are absolutely fine too. This is very frustrating as i purposefully got a small number of texts on my phone contract as I assumed i would be able to use imessage for all my messaging needs. I have a iPhone 4, with the latest update (5.1 i think).

I recently got a new Macbook and I synced it to my iCloud and iMessage accounts with both my apple ID and my phone number. I got the notification that it was signed into on my Mac and I just confirmed it. I have been able to receive messages on both my Mac and my iPhone, but now I am not receiving any kind of notification on my phone that any messages are being received. I am using a standard Galaxy S6, just downloaded the update yesterday with Verizon. Ever since then whenever I get a text message I have been getting my standard text ringtone as well as my default notification sound.Not sure at all how to go about fixing this. Looked in settings but to no avail. Tried resetting phone but didn't do anything.I found out through some trial and error that the thing causing the text notification ringtone and the default notification to both ring is having vibration turned on for texts. Turned it off and the problem is resolved.

The first notification when I place the phone on the charger I'm fine with. It's the ones throughout the night that wake me. I've read when it's up to charge and trickling back down, or getting hot and pausing charges is why this happens. The only solution I found is rooting, which I rather not do until Knox isn't tripped.

So, she discovered that her iPhone (latest iOS 5 release) keeps trying to send the message as an iMessage. It is not reverting to SMS after a given time, as it should and as I have seen it do before. I have tried it now also and my wife only receives my messages when she has a wifi connection (she does not have data roaming enabled). It seems like my iPhone too continously tries to send the message as an iMessage and it does not switch to SMS after a certain timeout time. The message that the iPhone continously tries to send as an iMessage never fails, however the status does not change until the next time my wife is in wifi coverage and the message is delivered.
