IPhone :: Who Say Their Phone Does Not Have Reception Issue

Jun 25, 2010

I want you to try a couple of things based off what about to say. Today when I was around my house doing the normal everyday thing my phone at this time would have between 3-4 bars. As soon as I touched the left side slowly my phone dropped connection. (We all know this) Now the interesting part is today I was driving around and stoped by my local coffee shop. I looked at my phone and sure enough it was blue with full five bars. I tried every angle to touch the left side and guess what I could not get it to drop any bars. So I guess my point of this post is to see if people have tired this test in different spots just not around their office or home. I believe this issue is more widespread then customers are willing to admit or at least test.

IPhone :: 4 Has The Best Reception Out Of Any Recent Phone

Jun 29, 2010

So I waited patiently in line for my iPhone 4 at my local AT&T store this morning. I paid and then left with my brand new phone. I decided to test out the RF of the phone by driving through weak areas. Places where my 3gs and Bold 9700 lost signal the 4 held on strong (calling and texting too). There were a few places where all phones were lost as far as getting a signal, but the iPhone 4 had usable coverage in places others didn't. Later in the afternoon I left on vacation (at the hotel now) and the iPhone 4 held on where the other phones always lost it (the gaps between two towers). My brother complained he didn't have any signal (LG AT&T phone) and I looked at my iPhone 4 and had 2 bars EDGE. Got to the hotel and only had 2 bars 3G with the iPhone 4. I put my brother's sim in my 3gS and that phone remained at 'No Service'. It won't magically create signal, but IMO the iPhone 4 does an amazing job of finding service and holding on in fringe areas. With all of the "reception" issues, I thought I'd just like to point out not all of us are having the same issues.
*I've used BB 9700, 3GS, and v3xx all within the past 3 months or so.

IPhone :: 3GS Phone Just Loses Reception / Goes In Searching Mode

Apr 29, 2010

I'm on Fido's network and have already my previous iPhone with Apple for the same issue. My phone just loses reception and goes in "searching" mode. Toggling "airplane" mode doesn't work either. Today I didn't have service for good two hours. Sometimes it would show I have reception but won't allow me to make a call or send text message. My current iPhone is just over a week old but the guy at the Apple store said its an issue with my carrier. I know thats not true since my wife has an iPhone as well and she never has this problem. I'm using the latest version software on my 3GS. Should I swap it again because this is becoming a headache now?

Anyone else having the same problem and if so then have you been able to resolve it?

IPhone :: 3GS Reception Signal - Reception Bars Fluctuate Between 0-2 Bars At Most?

Jun 28, 2012

I need help getting cell tower reception on my phone. Using China Unicom as Network Carrier. I am located in Guangzhou China (a major metropolis). The problem is not with the SIM Card itself because it has been tested and placed in other phones & it works well. Reception Bars fluctuate between 0-2 bars at most, both in and outdoors.Have noticed these problems since upgrading the phone to IOS 5.0 & now also on 5.1.1. No problem with Wi-Fi Networks. I have also tried Resetting the Network & taking out the SIM Card and putting it back in, but this has not helped.

Lumia 950 XL :: Phone Antenna And Reception Quality

Dec 2, 2015

For those who have the Lumia 950XL, can you comment on signal strength as it relates to the Dual Antenna feature that was touted when the device was first announced? I kept hearing about this Adaptive Antenna Technology that blends signal from two antennas and that the 950XL utilized this technology. Was it just another one of those hype vehicles to sell units or does the Lumia 950XL actually get better signal/reception due to this adaptive antenna feature?

Sony Ericsson :: C905a Would Debranding (AT&T) Cause Phone To Loose Reception Strength?

Jun 29, 2010

I recently debranded my C905a and I want to know if anyone knows for a fact that if by doing so I have reduced my phone's ability to mainain a decent reception signal. If I remeber correctly, I had the same problem before I debranded. I've called Sony Ericsson about the low reception strength and they told me that it was a network problem. I know that is not true b/c before the C905a, I was using a Nokia 2610 (a cheapie until I could upgrade) and that phone always had a signal virtually anywhere and I can count on 1 hand how many dropped calls I had using that phone. I do live out in a semi-rural area but, my mother has a Nokia 6555 (I live w/ her) and she does not have the problem with dropped calls like I do. But, w/ the C905a, I have to put the phone on speaker 3/4 of the time b/c when I put the phone to my ear, it simply looses all reception. The closer to the city I get, the reception problem becomes less an issue.

Motorola Atrix 4G :: No Reception/ Signal, Can't Make Phone Calls/texts

Apr 19, 2011

My Atrix was working just fine for the past month, and this morning all of a sudden I'm not getting ANY signal/reception. I can't make phone calls nor send texts. Sometimes the signal comes back but it's just for 2 or 3 minutes and then the signal is completely gone again. When I plug the SIM card into another phone it works just fine so that rules out AT&T's problem. Wi-fi works just fine. I factory reset the phone but the problem still exists. I am already out of the 30-day return/exchange policy, what can I do? Is this problem going to be fixed for the next update?

Screen shot shows when my phone is completely out of signal.

IPhone :: 3G - Reception

Jul 4, 2010

I just called a friend of mine that was planning on snagging an iPhone 4 within the next couple of weeks. He has a 3G and SWEARS BY using protective cases. He had multiple cases for his 3G. I asked him if he was going to get the new iPhone 4 anytime soon, and he replied "i'm going to wait until they get these reception issues fixed." I replied by saying, "well you use a case on your iPhone, so you shouldn't have any issues at all. In fact, I get BETTER signal strength with this iPhone." He went on to basically say that he was still going to wait until they fixed this "issue" with a software update. I don't understand why anyone that regularly uses a case on their iPhone, would be hesitant to buy the iPhone 4. A case shows the reception issue out the window. It's too bad all this bad publicity is making people think twice about buying this amazing phone. I know there are other issues besides the reception problem, but the reception issue is the most common. Everything else should be easily fixed by getting a replacement. I don't understand why there are still people complaining about sensor issues. Go get a replacement already.

IPhone :: 4 Improved Reception Over 3GS?

Jun 27, 2010

Forgetting the issue where you purposely try to make it lose signal (really..who holds their phone like that?), have you guys seen an increase in signal compared to your 3gs? It seems like the external antenna would help. I was at Best Buy (all sold out btw) and a guy had one and I asked him to look at it. My 3gS had 2 bars 3g signal and his had 5 bars 3g signal so this was my only comparison. It seems the *3001#12345#* trick doesn't work on 4.0 anymore? Hows real world usage?

Jul 6, 2012

My new Iphone 4S has very poor reception. Updated software as per apple's support team suggestion, tried different SIM & service providers but signals are 50% compared to my Nokia / samsung handsets. Apple service centre & support team refuses repair/replacement in India since phone was bought from US. Really shocked by this since APPLE warranty should be worldwide & since it is a manufacturing problem in such a high end phone it should be replaced at the nearest service centre in India.

IPhone :: Reception Antenna Can't Work

Jun 30, 2010

So since I have been having the reception antenna issues I thought I would make an appointment and stop in to the Apple store today. I told the guy all my issues and he said we can either replace it or give you a bumper and see if it helps. I thought it would be a good idea if I started fresh with a new phone. He went in back and came out with a box that was NOT the nice small iPhone 4 retail box.

It was plastic looking like one of those small hardware screwdriver boxes with all the little bits. He opened the box and in it was an iPhone 4 surrounded in black foam and the phone was wrapped in a little bag. My first thought was this has to be a refurbished or one someone brought back that was having a different problem. He said "How could it be refurbished? The phone just came out." I didn't believe him cause he has a odd smirk on his face when he said it.....

IPhone :: IP4 Poor Reception Compared To 3GS And 3G

Jul 22, 2010

I just got my unlocked iPhone 4. However, the reception is much worse compared to iPhone 3GS and 3G in the same place with same SIM-cards on two different carriers. iPhone 4 bars are always 3-5 smaller. Also, very often it is impossible to get service.I don't think this has anything to do with this widely known problem of touching iPhone since the problem is there even when I don't touch the iPhone. I have tried to restore the software and reset settings. Is there anything I could still try? Is it time to call Apple?

IPhone :: 4 Improved Reception Due To New Attenna Design?

Jun 14, 2010

I tried a search on this but nothing specific to this topic jumped out.I've read/heard about alot of improvements.... and I haven't listened to the entire keynote presentation yet, but was just wondering if there's been any discussion of the new design of the 4 actually improving phone call reception?

I've never been happy with my inconsistent ability to make actual phone calls with my original iPhone or my 3G, but that's not stopping me from getting the 4... however I would be happily surprised if the phone reception, espeically in the low signal areas is improved. Unfortunately in my neighborhood I happen to be in a spot where phone reception is hit/miss and when a phone call can be made actually talking so that I can be heard or hear others is rare.We also have a neighborhood pool and I'd love to be able to surf the net more consistently there while the kids are playing.... again, with my current iphone the signal is so poor it rarely works.

Just wondering if there has been any comments by Apple regarding expected improved reception with the new design or if it is more for freeing up space and for improving rigidity?Also it seems with the pre-4 models people used to complain that the way your held your phone and the location of the attenna was part of the reason for poor(er) reception. I can't say I ever experienced that, but it will be impossible to hold the new iphone 4 without touching the attenna!

I started this thread to discuss phone reception, but another topic I haven't heard specifically discussed is whether to expect the new A4 processor to actually speed up webpage loading? I know its an improved processor and should help with running multiple apps simultaneously (over the 3G or 3GS), but has anyone quoted technical speed of actually running apps being faster? Like running safari, loading apps, etc... And if they don't increase the RAM from previous models I think that's just a foolish mistake! I used to run a JB'd phone because I loved Backgrounder but eventually let the JB go.... but when I did use it, it was quite obvious that RAM limitations really hurt multitasking! Why would Apple add native multitasking and not bump up the RAM???
