Using iPhone 4S with IOS 5.1. On some contacts there is a "*" ("star") after one of the phone numbers. What is the meaning? Have not found any explanation in the User's Guide for IOS 5.1.

I sync contacts with a corporate Exchange / Outlook account. I can manage contacts on the phone or PC. Any contact who has say a business, home or mobile number and a fax number specified, if I go to the dialer, start typing their name, it does show the contact and a number (no indication of type such as fax or cell) so I tap that choice. Sadly, no, I can't just tell from looking at the number if it is fax or not. The phone dials the fax # which of course is incredibly annoying to my ear and that this dumb phone doesn't know not to try a fax number as the first choice for any contact who has a fax number.
I know I can set the default number per contact but I have hundreds of contacts and to go through each one to see if they have a fax and change it would really suck. Is there seriously no way to tell the phone not to use fax as first choice by default?
Incoming calls show phone number versus contact name. Text message show phone number as well.

Since Apple released iMessage my friend and I have been iMessaging. As of yesterday, I can still send my friend iMessages as usual, but she can only send iMessages to my email (I have "Receive at" set to my phone number and email, Caller ID set to my phone number). If she tries to send an iMessage to my phone number, as she did before, it will only send as a Text. All of my other iPhone contacts can still send iMessages to my phone number. We've each tried rebooting and switching iMessage on and off (we both have iPhone 4, IOS 5.1.1) without any luck. I realise that iMessage is still technically working with her sending to my email, but we just don't understand why sending to my phone number has suddenly stopped working.

I used to install Java games and apps, some of them are not trusted and the others are trusted and this was the main reason for the 1st time I see this error msg about the failed Start-up.. after I fixed this problem by soft reset, I installed my apps normally and I tried to avoid untrusted Java apps but I installed vBag to play the Gameboy Advance games and I installed Poker game which showed me "Memory Full" after I play it or read about the rules for some minutes while I installed the game on my memory card and not the phone memory.. I transfered my contact list but now when a contact rings their name doesn't appear but the number only as all the numbers are prefixed with +61 (I am in Australia) whereas from the contact list the numbers all begin with a zero. (So the number dialling in doesn't match with any numbers stored in the contact list). I didn't have that problem with 8900.

When i make call from the contacts applicaition it is calling to mobile without showing the number list. But if i call from the homescreen by typing the name, it is showing the number list. I also created new contacts with more than a number and tried, it's not working... View 2 Replies View RelatedI broke the screen of my 6280 so used a different phone for a while and now that I've repaired it and put the sim card back in the phone displays the number rather than the name in the text inbox. When I try to add the number to the contact it says it's in use for the contact bla bla. The numbers get displayed in the +44 format and are saved in the domestion 07xx format but I can't overwrite it because it then recognises the number.
