IPhone :: Using Or Syncing Require Administrator Priviledges?
Jun 2, 2012
My brother wants to give his son an iPhone but son only has a user account. Brother keeps admin account and has parental controls on sons user account. His son told him he would need admin account to use iphone and sync with iTunes and my brother has asked me if this is true? I can't find the answer in searching the old posts. I'm sure the computer is a PC and probably either Vista or Win7 but do not know any details at this time. (They live in a different state) brother says he will fed-ex me the computer if I can get it setup to work so his son can use with a user account only.
I was wondering this the other day. Does Facetime require an active connection to the Internet to work? By this, I mean if you have two iPhone4 users on the same wifi network (not connected to the Internet), can they use facetime to v-chat?
I'm thinking if you're in a work environment where you can't attach wifi routers to the network, could I bring in an old wifi router and just plug in the power? Then anyone with an iPhone4 could connect to this network just for Facetime (and perhaps stuff like filesharing, printersharing, etc).
I did an advanced replacement for my iphone 4, but right now I'm on a road trip. Would getting an advanced replacement require a signature from UPS/USPS? I'm from the US.
My Iphone wont let me sign into any pages that require a password. It just keeps bringing me back to the sign in page. So now I don't want to plug it into my computer for fear of spreading the problem.
I have an Iphone 3G. Using GPS seems to cost me money every time I access it? (unless I am in a free Wi-Fi area) I assume it connects to the Internet. I did not realise that it needed the internet. I have GPS in my car and it seems to connect with the Satellite immediately. The Iphone does not seem to operate in the same way. For example, if I plan a route using my Iphone in a Wi-Fi Area (my own), when I go outside to follow the route and proceed along the various steps, do I still need an internet connection?.
I'm in a blackberry group with some friends and we have two problems.
Firstly our Administrator's (we only had one) blackberry was water damaged and so she had to get a new blackberry. So now we can't assign anyone to be the new administrator.I'm not sure if she fixed the water damaged phone or just threw it away I just know she got a new phone.
Secondly our message times don't correspond with our blackberry time i.e if I type a message at 11:02 it shows up as 2:02.
I had created a group in BBM long time back and I was the administrator. Now it contains 23 members and I wanted to remove one of the members from it. But I see that I am not the administrator any more and if I need to make myself an administrator; I need to enter a password. I have never created an admin password for the group. Usually whoever is the administrator there should be a 'key' symbol next to the member's name in the list of the group. But none has such a 'key' picture next to his name. Is there any way that I can reset or recover the admin password
I leave location services off because it kills battery life, and I very rarely use it. Coupled with the graphical power needed for the iMovie app, the battery life is rather worse than with my normal settings. Other apps don't have this asinine need for location services to be turned on, so why does the Apple built iMovie app need to?
*Edit* I know that it does this so it knows which location to use on the Travel theme, but why isn't there an option to turn it off?

I am on the M preview. When I have an app and I want to active device administrator I get the typical window explaining the rights I am giving the app. Then of course I have the cancel and the activate button.
However, none of these buttons work (either cancel or activate). I have tried different apps with no success.
I was looking through my settings and was trying to test out a feature, forget exact feature but it either involved hitting the home button 3 times or it was holding the home and volume down buttons at the same time (I am guessing it was some combination of these two that activated my issue). I can not remember the exact feature as I was fiddling through the entire Settings menu for awhile before this happened . Regardless of the feature, I somehow managed to put my phone into a mode where everything requires a double tap to select and it has made using the phone near impossible.
When I attempt to tap something, lets say the Google toolbar for example, I get a blue box that surrounds the selected item and I get a vibration (that didnt happen before) & nothing happens. Unless I do a rapid double tap the app/icon/whatever will just become highlighted. Once I do the double tap and manage to get Google Now open, it becomes impossible to input text, it seems the double tap sometimes will select a letter, but it takes multiple attempts to even get the letter to register and by the time it does i end up with 4 of the same letter.
Oddly if i just single tap a letter or tap on a blank area of my home screen, I get what feels like a quarter powered vibration. This issue extends to every input on the phone, and when I say that everything requires a double tap I do mean EVERYTHING - I had to type this message with my fiances phone because I could not even manage to type it out on my own phone. I can not even manage to bring down my notification pullbar from up top because it ALL requires a double tap!
How to get rid of this and revert back to normal? I would prefer if I did not have to perform a factory reset...
I set up active sync for my C7, note that this implies automatic changes of your phones security settings, e.g. you are forced to set the security code of your phone. The timeout is fixed to 15 min, after you need to enter the code again if you want to use the phone! When seeting the security code you are forced to enter digit AND letters!I first tought it is a our corporate security rule, but IT department said no, it is the phone.Even worse when entering the security code it does allow only digits. If you keep pressing the lower right key, the alphabetic keys appear and you may enter a letter.(if you manage it you will need to send your phone to Nokia care, because it does not start anymore)Now when ever I want to access my C7, e.g. check my email, I need to enter the security code - accepted. However entering digits AND letters every time is quite annoying.
Whenever I come to download AppWorld through blackberry.com/appworld, I end up getting this "This application requires the following modules, which are not installed: net_rim_barcodelib net_rim_bbapi_unifiedsearch net_rim_crypto"
I know this is possible on windows mobile HTC phones, however my HTC Tattoo has Google Android on it, which means I can't watch videos that require flash player. Are there any substitutes for it so that I can watch these videos?
I have ATT version of the NEON and I would like it to automatically lock and thus require a security code to dial out or look at my text messages, etc. etc.So for example I would like for it to require a security code everytime I unlock the automatic key lock. (the key lock doesn't require a code just have to open it or hit the yes button). You can set the phone to require the security code (default is 0000) when you power up the phone, or when a new Sim Card is put in or immediately.
Immediately would be ok if it stayed on but the immediately option only works once.So short of going through the menus and setting it immediately each time or powering the phone off and then back on Does anyone know a way to do a lock on the Neon? Don't most phones have a lock feature?
I recently picked up a Nokia Asha 300; I am able to start the pre-installed apps and games without problems. However, after downloading some games and apps from the ovi store, I noticed that every time I started one of them, it asked to go online. If I didn't let it, it wouldn't start.
I do not intend to use this phone with any kind of data plan, at least currently. And even if I did, does that mean I would never be able to start any downloaded games while on a plane or somewhere without any network coverage? Or am I just missing something?
I own a Blackberry Curve 8520 and I would like to restore the phone data to original settings when I purchased it, sadly I didnt back up the data in any file so my question is if there is any original ipd file available that I could use to restore to original settings.
