Galaxy S6 :: Enabling WiFi Calling - Unrooting That Doesn't Require Total Wipe?
Oct 27, 2015I'm performing a simple mod for a mate of mine on his S6 (Sm-G920F), which he bought unlocked, but is using on EE. Wifi calling isn't enabled on non EE Firmwares, which has cropped up a few times on here, but it's easy enough to enable.
Basically I rooted the phone (no pingpong for it yet so used CF-Autoroot via odin), and I edited system/csc/others.xml to include the line - <CscFeature_Setting_SupportWifiCall>TRUE</CscFeature_Setting_SupportWifiCall> then enabled Wifi Calling in the phone app settings
This worked like a charm, sent my mate his phone back and all is right in the world...UNTIL he calls me saying that he want's to use a particular paid sport streaming service which detects his phone is rooted and blocks access.
Now I like a challenge, and it doesn't sound beyond the wit of man so I get the device back and try a few things...
1) Remove root via Super SU, rip the unrooted recovery and cache img files from the stock firmware, create my own md5 and flash via Odin.... Flashes but bootloops
2) Flash the stock firmware, create a flashable zip containing a modified others.xml, boot into recovery, flash update via adb... Flashes but bootloops
3) Download the stock EE firmware...Won't flash from Odin
4) Scour the web for a non rooted S6 ROM with Wifi Calling enabled.. So far no joy!
I reckon I must have missed something, any alternate way to enable Wifi Calling or an "Unroot" method that doesn't require a total wipe?

Apr 9, 2012My wife has a curve 8520. when she tries to use the browser to sign in to yahoo email she fills in her userid and password but the sign in button dosn't work, nothing happens when she clicks it does she have to enable something in the browser configuration? she doesn't have a Blackberry data plan as yet so we realise she can't use BBM or facebook app etc but I would have thought the browser should work as she has an internet plan.

Jun 30, 2010I was wondering this the other day. Does Facetime require an active connection to the Internet to work? By this, I mean if you have two iPhone4 users on the same wifi network (not connected to the Internet), can they use facetime to v-chat?
I'm thinking if you're in a work environment where you can't attach wifi routers to the network, could I bring in an old wifi router and just plug in the power? Then anyone with an iPhone4 could connect to this network just for Facetime (and perhaps stuff like filesharing, printersharing, etc).

I did not realise that it needed the internet. I have GPS in my car and it seems to connect with the Satellite immediately. The Iphone does not seem to operate in the same way. Jul 11, 2010I leave location services off because it kills battery life, and I very rarely use it. Coupled with the graphical power needed for the iMovie app, the battery life is rather worse than with my normal settings. Other apps don't have this asinine need for location services to be turned on, so why does the Apple built iMovie app need to?
*Edit* I know that it does this so it knows which location to use on the Travel theme, but why isn't there an option to turn it off?

Feb 19, 2010My wife accidently going through her contacts went to the very top where there's a drop down menu for Phone or Contacts. It went to Contacts. Now whenever she goes to her contacts a message pops up saying Sign In or Sign Up to OVI. She's been on the phone now with Nokia for 2 hours trying to resolve.Anyone out there have any ideas?
And by the way, are other brands of phones this bad, what with setting up loops like this can't be broken. Or, like what I've read here and elsewhere, all the problems with the Lock Code? I mean, it seems Nokia needs to go back to the drawing board and work on their user interface.
