Jan 19, 2010Is anyone aware of an app in Cydia that will turn the iPhone into a WiFi hotspot? I'm of course jailbroken and tether via BT and USB but for various reasons interested in seeing if one turn the phone into a hot spot.

Mar 16, 2012When I turn on the cellular data option the personal hotspot function bar appears with the wording "Personal Hotspot" and the wheel appears and goes around and around forever. If I turn the iPhone off and back on (with cellular data turned on) then the personal hotspot bar appears with the wording "Set up Personal Hotspot" and not wheel spinning. When the wheel is spinning I assume that processing is going on and using battery, not good! By the way I do not use the personal hotspot function.

Jun 13, 2012I have an Iphone 4S on ios 5.1.1, and there is no option for 'personal hotspot' anywhere in settings! How do I fix this? I have restored my iphone, but that didnt help. When I go to Settings > General > Network I get these options: Enable 3G, Cellular Data, Cellular Data Network, Data Roaming, VPN, Wi-Fi. My friends have iphones and have a 'Personal Hotspot' option. Surely we all have the same OS since we are all on 5.1.1! How can this happen? All other forums have told me to 'Acivate Personal Hotspot' with my carrier. But how can I do this if there is no option in the settings?

Jun 24, 2012I cannot get the personal hotspot to work. Even though I've confirmed with Verizon that it is turned on for the right hand set on the account, when I tried to turned it on on my iPhone it just prompts me to contact my carrier either via phone or website. I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 and I've tried the following:
1. resetting the network setting.
2. changing the phone's name to a single word without spaces nor special characters.
3. reset the whole phone.
4. combinations of the above several times.
These are supposed to be workable solutions based on what I've read online, but they didn't work for me. My online search kept leading me to an imaginary solution that states:Another way is to retype the access point name in. Go to Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data, scorell down and fill in an access point name under "Internet Tethering" for APN. I call it imaginary because I do not see this on my phone anywhere. Under network there's only the option to turn cellular data on or off, and under statistics there's a cellular data usage. I don't see "APN" or "Internet Tethering" anywhere.

Mar 6, 2010Anyone know how to allow your BB to be a wifi gateway using the 3G network? There is an application called Joikuspot but its only for Nokia and samsung. Apparently, the iphone has an app too. Anyone know if there is an app for BB? Would be VERY convenient to have this feature.

May 18, 2015I have the original M7 by HTC. My mobile hotspot used to work very well, brilliantly in fact. Ever since updating to Lollipop (5.0.2) I have been unable to keep my hotspot on consistently. Even now, as I am writing this, the hotspot has been turned off by itself (disconnects me from the internet) and I have to turn my phone back on, and switch the hotspot back on.
Is it a setting somewhere I am missing, or do you think it's a bug within lollipop? Is there any other way to get to use the data I pay for as internet through my phone? I have tried doing a hard tether, but I can't find an option to use it as internet (only data transfer.)

BB Curve 8500 :: Unable To Log Into Wifi Hotspot?
Apr 27, 2010I have a local wifi service that works great with my laptop, but when I try to connect to it using the BB, it does not allow me to connect. I am not even getting to the user name/password prompt. It goes through the redirecting page then comes back after several seconds with a "bad query". I have tried the hotspot browser, firefox and Internet explorer with the same results. I have deleted the entry for the wireless connection, cleared all of my cache including cookies. I have neighbors that connect to the same wifi with their iPhones and it is no problem for them. Why would a BB be different. Curve 8530 v5.0.0.508.

May 17, 2014I just got my Lumia 1520 handy but when I tried to connect it to the local Wifi hotspot (WPA2 encrypted), it times out saying "Connection unsuccessful - No response from the network". I searched the net for solutions and based on those, I restarted the Wifi Router, my Lumia 1520. Also I did a factory reset of the device.
But still, it is unable to connect to Wifi hot spot.I also tried connecting with another Wifi hotspot (WPA2), but nothing good happened. My other devices like Surface, Lumia 1020 are able to connect to the same hotspot without any issues. There is no restrictions on no. of Wifi connection as I am broadcasting the Wifi from my laptop (Windows 8.1 Update 1) as a virtual wifi hotspot.

Jul 16, 2011I was always using on other phones with Android 2.2 FroYo that 3G mobile hotspot feature, which was included right in the Android system under Wireless Networks settings.Now in Defy there is no option like that under settings in FroYo. Defy includes own app called 3G Mobile Hotspot, which should work like that option for creating mobile WiFi hotspots in other Android phones. But here is the problem.On my older phone with Android 2.2 I could create 3G WiFi hotspot wherever I needed and it worked. But now, with Defy, when I use that application 3G Mobile Hotspot, it writes me error when creating WiFi hotspot "Cannot set up data link, please contact your service provider" I suppose it is something with my carrier (Vodafone_CZ), but when I used 3G WiFi hotspots on older phones (which had that feature included right in Android settings menu) it worked without problems and I a used mobile phone for 3G internet sharing with my laptop.Now I remember, that I have deleted some DUN profile under APN Internet profiles, could it be that problem, that 3G Mobile Hotspot app is not working?how to create WiFi hotspot on my Defy for example with some other app?Or if not, how can I use Internet Tethering in Defy Mobile Networks menu via Bluetooth (my laptot has BT). I dont know, what should I set in my laptot to use Defy like BT 3G Internet provider and I dont know, if Internet Tetherig via BT is not charged at my carrier (I know, that the 3G WiFi hotspot feature was not extra charged..) so for that reason I would like to make it working on my Defy.

Apr 10, 2012I was just texting on my phone and all of a sudden the screen went blank, When i tried to turn it back on the apple logo came up for like a minute and then it turned off again, it did this one more time and then wouldn't turn on at all. it was on 80% battery, but it left it on charge over night and when i won't up still nothing?. It didn't go near any water or i didn't drop it or anything. I've tried the reset buttons about 6000 times and when i plug it into itunes it doesn't do anything at all and it doesn't even go into the recovery mode? I tried all the things on the apple website but i can't find anything of what it could be.

Jun 21, 2012When I power off my Iphone, the screen goes black for a few seconds, and then the apple logo appears and the phone powers back on. I have tried resetting it (I think) by holding both the lock button and the home screen button at the same time, but the problem continues. The phone indicates that it is up to date on all software. The phone also seems to be draining battery charge at a faster rate. I purchased the phone in December 2011, so it is not that old.

Jun 24, 2012My iphone (4s) won't power off. I hold down the button on the upper right for a few seconds, an option comes up to swipe to the right to "power off" the phone. I swipe this to the right and the phone powers off for only a few seconds and then automatically turns itself back on. This is a new problem for this phone. I was able to power it off previously, so I'm confident that it's not "pilot error".
