I can see that my personal hotspot is available in settings but it will not connect to anything
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Iphone 4S on ios 5.1.1, and there is no option for 'personal hotspot' anywhere in settings! How do I fix this? I have restored my iphone, but that didnt help. When I go to Settings > General > Network I get these options: Enable 3G, Cellular Data, Cellular Data Network, Data Roaming, VPN, Wi-Fi. My friends have iphones and have a 'Personal Hotspot' option. Surely we all have the same OS since we are all on 5.1.1! How can this happen? All other forums have told me to 'Acivate Personal Hotspot' with my carrier. But how can I do this if there is no option in the settings?

I cannot get the personal hotspot to work. Even though I've confirmed with Verizon that it is turned on for the right hand set on the account, when I tried to turned it on on my iPhone it just prompts me to contact my carrier either via phone or website. I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 and I've tried the following:
1. resetting the network setting.
2. changing the phone's name to a single word without spaces nor special characters.
3. reset the whole phone.
4. combinations of the above several times.
These are supposed to be workable solutions based on what I've read online, but they didn't work for me. My online search kept leading me to an imaginary solution that states:Another way is to retype the access point name in. Go to Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data, scorell down and fill in an access point name under "Internet Tethering" for APN. I call it imaginary because I do not see this on my phone anywhere. Under network there's only the option to turn cellular data on or off, and under statistics there's a cellular data usage. I don't see "APN" or "Internet Tethering" anywhere.

I just updated my iphone 4 to IOS 7.1.1 and my personal Hotspot stopped working. My other devices are unable to establish connection to the hotspot, but it was working very well before the update. What do I do?

I have the iPhone 4 3G and also have a Kindle Touch. Can I set the phone to do a portable hotspot so I can use my Kindle without having to go to a Wi-Fi hotspot place?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to share my LTE connection but as it is right now, I cannot. I'm on ATT family plan with tethering option ON. I can turn in ON alright (it shows 0/8 devices connected) but cannot connect a device. Tried different devices, changed the settings in the "Mobile hotspot" page but nothing works. Tried reset with holding volume down and power button.

When I use the hotspot without WPA-PSK, I'm able to access internet from my computer, but when I turn on WPA-PSK, I¨m beeing disconnected. My previous phone was Sony Xperia Z1. On this phone hotspot function worked perfectly, but not on my Z5 phone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a local wifi service that works great with my laptop, but when I try to connect to it using the BB, it does not allow me to connect. I am not even getting to the user name/password prompt. It goes through the redirecting page then comes back after several seconds with a "bad query". I have tried the hotspot browser, firefox and Internet explorer with the same results. I have deleted the entry for the wireless connection, cleared all of my cache including cookies. I have neighbors that connect to the same wifi with their iPhones and it is no problem for them. Why would a BB be different. Curve 8530 v5.0.0.508.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an 8520 and i have entered my wifi details & it connects but whenever i try to use the wifi it won't work. whenever i click hotspot login it just keeps saying requesting & in the end it just says unable to conect to server.
all the browser settings are on hotspot browser but the wifi will not work.
On a embedded PC I've configued a hotspot for mobile devices - any device can connect to WiFi it provides and use it to access websites. However one of our customers told us that he can't use it with Blackberry.Only funcionality we need is website access, no need for UMA or any other extra BB-specific features.First problem we had was that BB couldn't associate to hotspot at all. That is fixed now by disabling 'wmm' on hotspot.Problem that stays open is accessing websites. The browser is set to 'hotspot mode' but whenever i enter url in a browser the request times out. The gateway is correct, DNS-server (gateway itself) is correct too, IP address is assigned correct.I dug into it and i can see that most of DNS queries don't reach the hotspot at all. When i try DNS test utility results are the same - most DNS queries don't reach hotspot. I can see BB exchanging ARP 'who has' APR 'is at' packets and thats all.Ping to my hotspot works when i chose 'WiFi -gateway' (however it responds only once after ~1600ms, later requests time-out). When I try to ping it via IP all request time out (however i can see in logs that ping reaches my hotspot and it responds immediately).Hotspot config is atheros (2413) based wifi card in ap mode. Driver is ath5k from 2.6.38 kernel. I use hostapd to create wifi network and dnsmasq as DHCP/DNS server.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've found a problem with last system update for my smartphone: Android hotspot doesn't allow to access Internet.
The version of the update is 23.0.1.A.3.9
I've seen that the wifi connection between PC and phone works fine (in fact, if a server is mounted on phone, the PC finds it and can connect to the server) and the connection from the phone to another hotspot works, but if the node is the phone, the tunnelling between mobile data connection and wifi network, doesn't work (as no route is made!), so, PC connects to phone, but can't access to the Net.
recently installed GoLauncher Ex on my OneV and created a mobile hotspot. The connection appears in my wireless connections and it appears to have full bars, and it appears to connect me when I select it, but when I try to open a web page I get "server not found" message, and then when I look back at the connection it says "connected with limited access". I am in a city with so called full red 3G coverage too. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or is it the phones inability to transmit a wireless signal? I tried all the different types of security options in the program and still nothing. Am I simply out of luck with using this phone as a hot spot and am I going to have to upgrade to the evo v 4g to do it? By the way I am using windows Vista if that matters.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my Lumia 1520 handy but when I tried to connect it to the local Wifi hotspot (WPA2 encrypted), it times out saying "Connection unsuccessful - No response from the network". I searched the net for solutions and based on those, I restarted the Wifi Router, my Lumia 1520. Also I did a factory reset of the device.
But still, it is unable to connect to Wifi hot spot.I also tried connecting with another Wifi hotspot (WPA2), but nothing good happened. My other devices like Surface, Lumia 1020 are able to connect to the same hotspot without any issues. There is no restrictions on no. of Wifi connection as I am broadcasting the Wifi from my laptop (Windows 8.1 Update 1) as a virtual wifi hotspot.
I was always using on other phones with Android 2.2 FroYo that 3G mobile hotspot feature, which was included right in the Android system under Wireless Networks settings. Now in Defy there is no option like that under settings in FroYo. Defy includes own app called 3G Mobile Hotspot, which should work like that option for creating mobile WiFi hotspots in other Android phones. But here is the problem. On my older phone with Android 2.2 I could create 3G WiFi hotspot wherever I needed and it worked. But now, with Defy, when I use that application 3G Mobile Hotspot, it writes me error when creating WiFi hotspot "Cannot set up data link, please contact your service provider" I suppose it is something with my carrier (Vodafone_CZ), but when I used 3G WiFi hotspots on older phones (which had that feature included right in Android settings menu) it worked without problems and I a used mobile phone for 3G internet sharing with my laptop. Now I remember, that I have deleted some DUN profile under APN Internet profiles, could it be that problem, that 3G Mobile Hotspot app is not working?how to create WiFi hotspot on my Defy for example with some other app?Or if not, how can I use Internet Tethering in Defy Mobile Networks menu via Bluetooth (my laptot has BT). I dont know, what should I set in my laptot to use Defy like BT 3G Internet provider and I dont know, if Internet Tetherig via BT is not charged at my carrier (I know, that the 3G WiFi hotspot feature was not extra charged..) so for that reason I would like to make it working on my Defy.

I've got my S2 now for maybe 2 weeks now and only now I noticed that my Wifi hotspot function is not working. I tried that with 2 different SIM's (in different countries) with the same result. Tethering via USB works fine. I can switch on the wifi hotspot (open or secured) and I can even connect to it. On my Win7 machine I have a connection for a few moments, after that I lose connection and at the end I lose connection to the wifi hotspot.
On my blackberry I can connect the first time. That connection stays open for maybe a minute. After that it automatically disconnects and I cant connect anymore until i restart the hotspot. When I switch off the hotspot it takes a long time and it ends with error (the status under wifi hotspot). If I just enable hotspot and disable it again it is without errors. So this seems only to happen when a client actually connects... I tried already a factory reset and read somewhere to enable bluetooth before enabling the hotspot, but the problem stays the same ...
my phone camera stop working n i can't open my pics either because both of the app are closing on me each time i try to open them, it seems like Internet stop working also n when i go to settings n general/about that crash also and i can't update or restore the phone, the phone isn't even showing up in itunes unless i put it in dfu mode?

my camera isnt working... I'm able to view all of my past photos and videos fine. But when it comes to take new ones i'm unable to do so. When I launch the camera app it stays stuck on a closed shutter; when I press the camera button to snap a new photo/vid nothing happens... it just stays on this lovely screen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWith Verizon offering mobile hotspot on the Palm PrePlus & I believe Google is including it on their next OS update (2.2) & Sprint including it on the EVO 4G, I'm wondering if Apple & AT&T would keep up by offering it on the new iPhone. The one reason I'd probably say no is the iPad 3G. Just wondering what you guys thought.
