Jun 3, 2012not sure exactly when it happened but i noticed yesterday that my sound is no longer working on my iphone 4s. i've checked that all sound settings are on, including the mute switch on the side of the phone. i can hear alarms and phone calls but the phone doesn't make the keypad noises, or the random other noises in normal us. i hear no noise when trying to listen to music or watch Internet videos. no volume bar comes up when i click the +/- buttons. all i get is an icon that says "ringer". i found that music plays just fine when i plug in a headphones, and i can even change the volume with the +/- button when the headphones are plugged in.

Jun 12, 2012My iPhone keeps making the strangest sound... it's completely random, it's not tied to any notification that I can find (and I've been searching...). It is similar to the "Calypso" tone that's built in, but deeper, minor, a bit resonant, more "crap, something's wrong with your phone" sounding. It's an ascending minor third, but not exactly. It happens a few times a day. No pattern to the times. For example, today, it happened around 11:55AM, then around 1:10PM. No emails or texts or notifications happened at those times. Like I said, I've combed through all the notifications and sounds and apps and still haven't found it. I have no way to record it because it happens so randomly.

Apr 10, 2012The volume bar when double clicking home button shows momentarily and then disappears and won't play music or make the type sounds or anything like that. Only plays music when a 3.5 mm jack is used an still won't play music at times. The phone is really slow and annoys me.Have tryed resetting, turning off for long periods of time and updating system software.

May 8, 2012My iphone 3GS has no sounds now except the phone ringer. I have toggled the mute switch back and forth and it makes no difference. When I go into settings for sounds I see at the top that it is marked silent. However I cannot find any way to switch that off and reset it back to sounds. The only thing that seems to work now is vibrate and the phone ring.

BB Curve :: It Stops Making Any Sounds
Aug 8, 2011My BB 9630 intermittently stops making any sounds when recieving calls or messages of any kind. This has happened 3 times over the last 3 months. It happens after it has been shut down, like overnight, and is restarted. Each time, this problem eventually goes away. It's almost as if the mute button on top of the device is stuck on. When pressing that mute button, there is no indication on the phone that it is on (muted) or off.

May 22, 2012When making or receiving a call, the caller or the person I am calling cannot hear me. If I turn on speaker, they can hear me. This is a new iPhone 4, I traded in my 1 year old iPhone 4, because it also was having this issue, & the apple store staff could not fix it.
I have tried turning on/off, plugging in ear buds and unplugging them, cause I heard that could help, & syncing the phone. Nothing has worked yet that I have tried.

May 30, 2012A few days ago, out of the blue, I lost the ability to be able to hear or be heard when on a call on my iPhone 4. On a call, no matter which output I use, earpiece, earphones or speaker, I cannot hear the person on the other end speaking, and they cannot hear me talking. My phone will ring if someone is calling, and if I call someone their phone will connect, but from there I am completely muted/in silence. I do not believe this is a hardware related issue as I have tested both the microphone and speaker/s by making a Skype call to a friend which worked absolutely fine. I can also play music from my phone successfully through all of the iPhone outputs mentioned above. This is a super frustrating issue as I haven't dropped the phone or damaged any of the hardware. The only one software related thing I notice that is out of the ordinary is that when I do make a call, the 'speaker' icon is selected by default. Obviously I have attempted to deselect it, but have had no success in this making any difference.

The called party must hang up first before I am able to terminate the call. This is very aggravating on calls where there is some sort of auto-answering device. My phone can be tied up for 5 min or more. I have tried resyncing, restarting, and even rebooting my phone all to no avail.
