I bought a first generation iPhone from a friend. When I turn it on, it says I have to connect it to iTunes to activate it. I do not want to buy a data plan since I am in an area where wi-fi is abundant.
My old iPhone worked without the data plan, but it's screen started having problems (another post), so there is no issue with using an iPhone without a data plan.
How should I go about this? I unlocked my previous phone with ZiPhone, should I do the same?
Just wanted to let everyone know that if for whatever reason you still have the dock for the original 1st generation iPhone (silver back & edge only) it works great as a dock for the just released iPhone 4.

Can I use Bluetooth headphones with a 1st generation iPhone? The headphones pair but the sound comes out of the phone and not the headphones. The phone has iOS 3.1 which is the last software the phone will support.
I have a 1st generation iPhone that was unlocked and jailbroken with ZiPhone. One day I was typing a text message/using internet (can't recall specifically) and a bunch of random keys popped up (as they do when you type) even though I had not pressed anything, and since then a portion of the screen no longer works. This portion is (in the context of text messaging), the top row of the keyboard, and the area where you have the actual message (hence I cannot press 'send').
I repeatedly tried the reset technique involving holding the home button and power button, but had no results. Recently I have reset the home screen and now have a "how to rearrange home screen icons" thing in the middle of my screen whenever I turn the phone on, and I cannot press "ok" due to the problems in the screen. Any idea what the problem may be, or what I can do about it?

I had recently jailbroken my phone and it was working perfectly fine.
I download Installous from Cydia and installed many cracked apps (about 20). I was using one of them one day when all of a sudden, the iPhone froze.
I did a hard reboot and I turned it back on. All I saw after that was the apple logo, then the black screen before the password screen, and then the apple logo again with the spinning wheel. This pattern continued for a while. I tried several more hard reboots but the same problem continued.
I connected it to my computer and then tried turning it on and it worked for a while. I used the same app and the phone worked fine. However, when I locked my phone after that and tried to put my password in later, the phone froze. I did a hard reboot and the same pattern of logo, black, then logo w/ spinning wheel occurred.
Please help me. How do I fix this problem without doing an iTunes restore (I stupidly didn't back anything up.
I've recently moved from Orange to O2 and my iPhone 3GS doesn't recognise the new O2 SIM card. Orange told me that they would send me an unlock code from Apple a month ago. Talked to Orange today and they say I need to get it from O2 but O2 say that's not the case.

When ever I try to unlock (dragging lock button from left to right) , I am unable to unlock in one go. It is taking multiple attemts to unlock my phone.I also observed that when I get to call, to cancel dragging the icon from right to left this is required multiple attempts.i.e many time dragging icon from right to left.
I don't know whether it is software problem or hardware. I have tried the repair operation also. my xperia neo is uptodate and running 2.3.4 os.I also tried to un install apps but I couldn't find any difference.Also once I unlock, those 5 screens, I can scroll inbetween and can touch home button. As I purchased this phone in UK and using it in India, I am not sure how much service I can get in india from SE.I have bill for the mobile too.in other posts somebody told me to remove yahoo and i did the same but didn't find any difference.in short the touch scence is not responsive during unlock and for a while once get the home screen. I was searching for topics related to this topic, describing the diference beetwen manufacture unlock vs bootloader unlock. I bought an unlocked Atrix in AT&T, so I could use it at any company or overseas. Is this mean the bootloader is also unlocked? Or these are diferent things?
i'm from Germany and i've bought a new Apple iPhone 4s from the Provider Orange from France. They told me there, that i can't use my iPhone with my German card because it have an simlock.When i pay Money, they can send the IMEI to Apple and i can unlock my iPhone. So i did. They said also, that i have to wait at least a week till ten days. So, thats the 15th day and i'm Angry that i cant put till now my card. I remember my z2 was able to set the bluetooth unlock range between my phone and my smartband at android 4.4, but this function seen gone in android 5.1,i can unlock my phone in android 5.1 with any range just need the bluetooth connected.
I have my phone set to fingerprint unlock but it says to swipe to unlock. Only after I restart it it asks for my fingerprint. I want it to stay fingerprint to unlock.
my touch screen cracked after I droppet my Xperia Mini Pro on the pavement. I can still see everything on the screen, but when I try to unlock the phone by sliding the touch screen, there's no reply. i want to unlock my 3GS so i can sell it. I was wondering what the appropriate steps are to do this. I have a launch 3GS so it has the older bootrom (or whatever, haha). 1)unlock/jailbreak firmware 3.1.3 with sn0wbreeze 2)restore to unlocked firmware 3)do NOT restore any personal info 4)take out SIM card and sell? is it as easy as that? i have never unlocked or jailbreaked my stuff, but i want to do it because it increases the market value of the phone apparently.
i've read that 3.1.2 on an iphone 3gs can be unlocked using blacksnow with the updated baseband 5.11.07.this Internet video shows it being done: if this is true, the 3.2.1 is unlock-able and usable for t-mobile.
