Just wanted to let everyone know that if for whatever reason you still have the dock for the original 1st generation iPhone (silver back & edge only) it works great as a dock for the just released iPhone 4.
I bought a first generation iPhone from a friend. When I turn it on, it says I have to connect it to iTunes to activate it. I do not want to buy a data plan since I am in an area where wi-fi is abundant.
My old iPhone worked without the data plan, but it's screen started having problems (another post), so there is no issue with using an iPhone without a data plan.
How should I go about this? I unlocked my previous phone with ZiPhone, should I do the same?
Yes - I know - FaceTime is "brand new" But here's what I'd love to see happen in the future. Post your ideas as well...
- iChat compatibility - Skype compatibility - Other phones adopting the protocol to make it possible to talk to pretty much anyone regardless of phone type - 3G connectivity - 3 Way Video Chat
Can I use Bluetooth headphones with a 1st generation iPhone? The headphones pair but the sound comes out of the phone and not the headphones. The phone has iOS 3.1 which is the last software the phone will support.
I have a 1st generation iPhone that was unlocked and jailbroken with ZiPhone. One day I was typing a text message/using internet (can't recall specifically) and a bunch of random keys popped up (as they do when you type) even though I had not pressed anything, and since then a portion of the screen no longer works. This portion is (in the context of text messaging), the top row of the keyboard, and the area where you have the actual message (hence I cannot press 'send').
I repeatedly tried the reset technique involving holding the home button and power button, but had no results. Recently I have reset the home screen and now have a "how to rearrange home screen icons" thing in the middle of my screen whenever I turn the phone on, and I cannot press "ok" due to the problems in the screen. Any idea what the problem may be, or what I can do about it?
my iPhone is blocked due to wrong passwords. I haven't used it for a while because I used a blackberry. Now I'm fed up with blackberry so want to use my iPhone again.
My iPhone says I should connect to iTunes but when I try it tells me the phone is blocked. What do I need to do?
I had recently jailbroken my phone and it was working perfectly fine.
I download Installous from Cydia and installed many cracked apps (about 20). I was using one of them one day when all of a sudden, the iPhone froze.
I did a hard reboot and I turned it back on. All I saw after that was the apple logo, then the black screen before the password screen, and then the apple logo again with the spinning wheel. This pattern continued for a while. I tried several more hard reboots but the same problem continued.
I connected it to my computer and then tried turning it on and it worked for a while. I used the same app and the phone worked fine. However, when I locked my phone after that and tried to put my password in later, the phone froze. I did a hard reboot and the same pattern of logo, black, then logo w/ spinning wheel occurred.
Please help me. How do I fix this problem without doing an iTunes restore (I stupidly didn't back anything up.
I bought the Atrix just for the docks (I have the car and lapdock) and after spending that much money I expect better from Motorola. I've updated to gingerbread if that help. The car dock hasn't rebooted the phone as much as the lapdock does but my lapdock is now useless.
It is so ridiculously annoying and pathetic that Motorola made a Photon 4G Q which won't be able to use original Photon 4G's accessories?I just bought Motorola Photon 4G HD Dock & Nav Dock and realized that Motorola Photon 4G Q has its HDMI & micro USB slots in different location than the original Photon. So that your loyal customers give you more $$$ to buy new accessories?
I'm on my second Motorola Standard Dock for the Droid. In each case the dock worked fine for a short time, then phone suddenly stopped going into "dock mode" when inserted. The connection is OK: Still charges the phone. Just no dock mode features, which is why I bought the dock in the first place. Tried every combination of seating while turned on/off, seating then turning on/off, powering and de-powering dock, etc. No dice. Phone docks fine and enters car dock mode with car cradle. Using provided charger(s) with dock(s). Have not tried full reset of phone due to hassle of reinstalling apps, etc., but powered up, removed battery, etc. Am I really so unlucky as to get two defective docks or is there a software issue here?
Is there a method to dock the iphone 4s to a mac so that the iphone is managed (dialing, on, off) from the computer, and works via the computer or external speakers?
The TomTom car kit is currently available only for the normal iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S. As iPhone 4G is a newer product from Apple, it has not been tested for the TomTom car kit. Hence we regret that we will not be able to comment on its compatibility with iPhone 4G as of now. However, we are getting a lot of requests from customers regarding the same query and we are in a process to release a iPhone 4G compatible version of TomTom car kit soon.
i downloaded a home wallpaper application on cydia, and upon installing it, my icons are not aligned properly, i removed the home wallpaper application, it just made it worst, now the gap in between icons are so big and the dock is missing.
I am not able to move an app to the dock on my iPhone 5. I can move the app from page to page, but when I drag the app to the dock, it bounces back to its original position.Â
I have a Pioneer head unit in my car with a front USB, and it came with a nice short USB cord which works well in a car.Well, I have my iPhone 4, synced it (which took the same music that was on my 3G). Now, while driving, I hear crackling in the music. It's not constant, but it's there randomly, and it wasn't using my 3G.
Nothing changed but the phone. Could this be an iPhone issue, or possibly the USB cord Pioneer gave me with the head unit doesn't work as well with the iPhone 4, did something in the dock change?
Where can I find some genuine or good looking iPhone 3GS cradle charging dock? I need it for my work office. I went on eBay and I found a bunch of fake replica docks from China/HK. I feel I should avoid it because I don't fakies. If anyone know any stylish looking one or way better than the one from the pics, let me know. I am really interested in purchasing a genuine cradle dock.
Ever since I've updated my phone to ios 5, my phone wouldn't play music through my Sony dock. The model number is :ICF-CS15I. I just got this for Christmas and it was working fine until I updated my iphone.
annot get iphone 4 to link to xm skydock product. I have reset all settings, rebooted iphone, redone default settings, cleaned terminals, and it still cannot connect to skydock, my friends iphone 3 works flawlessly. Im assuming this is an apple operating system problem ios5.1. I have done everything i can do, i am very disappointed that apple wishes to charge to speak to a representative when it is their crappy software that doesnt work. Not impressed!
After noticing that my normal cables aren't working right, (I usually use a dock) I've been trying to figure out why. Finally found the cause. The dock is faulty. Pic's are at the bottom. The right side of it is pushing up more as you can see in the pics. It's firmly in that position, doesn't wiggle or anything and the phone still charges and music can be played using the dock. But the normal cables are all acting really dodgy now. If u push them in they'll connect for a second while your pushing and then disconnect when you let go... This has been getting worse and worse and obviously the dock has slowly been damaging the connector inside the phone.
My phone is stuck in docking mode, when i plug it into my dock then take it out, it will stay in docking mode, i tried cleaning it with a toothbrush but that didnt work, i havent spilled anything on it or dropped it?
I just recently purchased a iPhone 4S. Unfortunantly, after a month of use the iPhone will go into dockmode and will not play sound through the speakers. When I plug in earphones, music will play, but will revert back to dock mode. This is not the first time it happened. My 4G iPod Touch had the same issues. I have not connected my iPhone to any dock.Restoring did not fix the problem.
I recently updated from 3.1.3 to 4.0.1, I had blackra1n installed before and switched to jailbreakme.com.. Everything works fine except now I have a half inch space under my dock at the home screen, even my wallpaper is shrunken.
Anyone else notice that the iPhone Steve was using for the demo has the leopard style dock? I really hope that it doesn't make it into the final build. I think the current dock looks 10x better!
I just switched over from the 1st Generation iPod Touch to the iPhone 4. I also have iPod/iPhone integration in my car.I noticed with the new iPhone, that the volume on my radio must be turned up much higher than was required with the iPod touch. The problem that this causes is excessive electrical noise from the car, plus a lot more noise from the radio circuitry in the iPhone. On top of that, if I switch over to radio without changing the volume, I get blasted.
I believe if Apple just bumped up the volume a bit for the dock connector, that this issue would be alleviated. To give you an idea... I have a 2006 Mazda3 2.0L. I installed a Neo ProLink PODMAZ-R2V1. With my iPod touch, I usually listened to music on 15/40. With the iPhone, I have to crank it up to about 28/40 to match the iPod Touch.
Increasing the dock volume output will quiet down the electrical interference shared between my car and the iPhone itself as well as keep the volume level between switching to the radio and the iPhone.I know the volume varies from car to car, but the amount of electrical noise heard from the iPhone should be a clear indication that the volume is set too low.Just a little curious if anyone else has noticed this? I know I'm taking quite a big leap from a 1st Gen iPod Touch to a 4th Gen iPhone, but this still shouldn't be an issue.
