I am only able to set up my personal emails accounts as IMAP on my iphone. any ideas why? Using IMAP results in my e-mail messages that were first downloaded to my iphone, not to also download to mac mail on my laptop. I need all my messages to come to my laptop...
View 3 RepliesI was in gmail and I thought all of the e-mails in the All Mail folder were old/deleted emails. I checked the first hundred and they were all old. So I deleted them and that moved them to the Trash. Then I deleted the Trash. Apparently ALL of my e-mails were in the All Mail folder.. but that's not what it appeared when I looked in the All Mail folder to make sure that wasn't the case.
I use IMAP with my gmail account. They are gone when I log into gmail. They are gone in Thunderbird. But I have not updated my mail on my iPhone...any chance I can recover them from there?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI set up my 2 business email accounts with IMAP, everything worked fine for about 2 weeks, then my default account would not consistently download emails, so I could see them on my laptop inbox but nothing on the phone, then the IMAP sync function on the default account would not work from my laptop to S6, it would work the other way, so i can delete or move emails into my various folders via mt S6 but not via my laptop.
The strange thing is that he secondary email account works fine, receives email fine, IMAP works and syncs fine all working good. So I decided 2 days ago to delete both email accounts and set up again, everything worked fine but today its back to the original status of my default account not syncing from my desktop/laptop. The settings for both email accounts are the same.
The phone is primarily used for business and i get over 200 emails a day.
Unable to define server settings when setting up IMAP or POP3 mailbox. Setup Wizard no longer gives these options when selecting OTHER as your email client type.

The phone kept showing "I'm deleting the messages" but with no succes.So I removed the account, hoping to delete the messages. From what I see it didn't do the trick.Now, I would like to find where the emails are stored and manually delete them.

The second account, which has exactly the same settings as the first, downloads into the 'Inbox' and then after a very few number of minutes, auto deletes. Where these files go to I am unable to ascertain.

The settings is IMAP with no extra security.I know that all settings are correct because I have traced the IMAP conversation with WireShark on my server. I'm not an IMAP expert, but it looks ok and I can see email headers being transferred. But still the phone doesn't show any emails.

On my old phone, deleting items from my in box removed them from the server, but that's not happening now (using the default Mail APP). I noticed it was sending them to the trash and so I went into the trash folder, selected all the email and then tapped the "Delete" button. Nope. I tried rebooting the phone and deleting/recreating the email account but I still get the same message. I didn't change the password to my email account in the 30-40 minutes it took to update my phone.

As I am setting everything back up on it I can not re set up my e-mail account I had on my old device. I keep getting this message:I keep getting this error message: A new blackberry device has been detected. You must move e-mail account to resume email delivery to your blackberry device. Email delivery to your old device has been stopped.It gives me the option to move the e-mail account so I do and it says it is successful, but then when I check e-mail accounts or try and sent an e-mail it says I have no e-mail accounts set up and take me back to the same error message?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to set the amount of time my S5 holds emails? Currently my phone email has them going back for at least 4 months and it's using up a ton of memory. If I delete them from my phone they also disappear from my web-based server (AT&T) that normally holds 30 days of emails before automatically archiving. I can still access deleted emails by doing a specific search but they don't appear otherwise.

The error message I'm receiving is "The IMAP server '[url].." is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server Field".
I didn't have to enter any info for the incoming mail server (nor is there an option for it). Also, my phone's WiFi is working so I'm not sure what the problem is.
When i go to set up my email which is a live.ca email with my iphone i cant get it to work it asks POP or IMAP and asks for host, user name and password for incoming and outgoing server i currently have the server for incoming as pop3.live.com and outgoing as stmp.live.com with my user name and password in the other fields it is set to IMAP. anyone know what to set it to to get it working?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy mail on my iPhone was set up fine as POP, I used my Mac to get mail and only the iPhone if I was away without the Mac, so it only downloaded email not received on the Mac yet. I had to change my password with my provider (Virgin Media) and my mail account on my iPhone wouldn't recognise it even though it was correct so I deleted the account to set it up again. However, it won't give me the option of POP, only IMAP and now it keeps downloading hundreds of old emails. I just want to go back to POP! I've seen sites which show how to set up a mail account and they say "now choose POP or IMAP" but my set up never gives me that choice, it just takes my settings, verifies them and sets it up as IMAP.

I created few subfolders in delivery post in outlook on my pc. When i recieve an email, outlook sort it to its folder and everything is ok. But when i refresh my email in Mail app, there is no mail... Only mails which stays in delivery post folder.Â

So my gmail address list or contacts seems to have been hacked and all my contacts who are still talking to me have told me so.So I changed my gmail password.No more complaints, and probably no more friends as contacts.Â
But seriously, I have been able to get gmail (web) working with my new double authentication password(s). Also, my outlook for MAC is working using the special "generated App Password". (because Outlook cannot do the double authentication thingie)Ditto for the gmail app from google on my iPhone. (it works too).BUT I cannot get the iPhone Mail App to connect to Gmail.
I have deleted (i thought) my existing gmail setup from my iPhone. When I try to re establish the gmail settings, using either the password generated by the MAC / iCloud keychain generator or the App password, I get the message "My Name" is already added.
It looks to me that there is something in the iPhone that matches my gmail address, even though I deleted the account.Â
