View 22 Repliescan't get the Data push feature to work on my two GoDaddy IMAP email accounts. When I first turn on Data push, it appears not to change mode, and no test messages get transmitted until I force it to fetch. After power cycling, the accounts no longer receive any mail at all. The green "throbber" circle, at the upper left, next to the account name, never stops spinning, and no mail ever shows up. I do not receive any more mail until I turn of Data push and reboot the phone. K9 works perfectly, on the same two accounts, and receives new messages immediately. I would really like to use the native client so that I can take advantage of the Motoblur messaging widget, but timely arrival of mail messages takes precedence for me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhy doesn't this feature exsist for IMAP servers that support PUSH in the latest iOS? Will it be added to iOS in the future, or is Apple not supporting it so you have to use Message or something else? It's quite anoying not being able to have my mail show up as fast as it does on my Windows email client using push on my IMAP account. My first experience emailing on an iOS device is that it's a bit stone age with IMAP support. Change this, and I'll be more likely to buy Apple products again in the future , if not, I will be ditching it

I am having repeated and seemingly inconsistent (though currently consistently) problems with gmail saying my password is incorrect. It's not. I tried this with push, and then resorted back to imap (with gpush app) and it now won't accept my password with imap at all. Gmail is not working with my iphone at all! What is the problem here? in the past two months gmail and my iphone don't play together well at all anymore!
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm using the email app for my work email. It's using the IMAP protocol. I'm not using the corporate sync functionality. After doing a manual sync by pressing the refresh icon, I would get emails pushed to my phone fine. However, after some time emails stop getting pushed to my phone. The period of time when push seems to be working varies around a few hours. When it stops working I have to do a manual sync again in order to get push to work for another few hours.

I wiped out my handheld, but every time it restarts that message comes back up. When I go to my text messages, and I hit the "menu" button, nothing happens it just freezes and doesn't let me scroll up or down until I hit "menu" again.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've about had it with having email on 2 devices.I use Gmail and I have my laptop and my iPhone. I'd like to receive a copy of the email on BOTH devices every time I receive one and then DELETE the email FROM THE SERVER when I delete a message.
I'm tired of going 2 weeks without touching my iPhone and then the next time I pick it up I have 50 messages, all of which I have read and deleted on my Mac.Why can't anything be as easy as Apple's approach? I'm gritting my teach and on the verge of paying for mobileme.
I just got an iPhone and am trying to set up my Yahoo email account. I've tried multiple times and failed. The error message I'm receiving is "The IMAP server '[url].." is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server Field".
I didn't have to enter any info for the incoming mail server (nor is there an option for it). Also, my phone's WiFi is working so I'm not sure what the problem is.
I am only able to set up my personal emails accounts as IMAP on my iphone. any ideas why? Using IMAP results in my e-mail messages that were first downloaded to my iphone, not to also download to mac mail on my laptop. I need all my messages to come to my laptop...

I have a gmail account and email is currently being synced from my outlook to my iphone, but sent messages from my iphone are not being synced to my outlook. Do I need to enter an IMAP path prefix?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy mail on my iPhone was set up fine as POP, I used my Mac to get mail and only the iPhone if I was away without the Mac, so it only downloaded email not received on the Mac yet. I had to change my password with my provider (Virgin Media) and my mail account on my iPhone wouldn't recognise it even though it was correct so I deleted the account to set it up again. However, it won't give me the option of POP, only IMAP and now it keeps downloading hundreds of old emails. I just want to go back to POP! I've seen sites which show how to set up a mail account and they say "now choose POP or IMAP" but my set up never gives me that choice, it just takes my settings, verifies them and sets it up as IMAP.

I was in gmail and I thought all of the e-mails in the All Mail folder were old/deleted emails. I checked the first hundred and they were all old. So I deleted them and that moved them to the Trash. Then I deleted the Trash. Apparently ALL of my e-mails were in the All Mail folder.. but that's not what it appeared when I looked in the All Mail folder to make sure that wasn't the case.
I use IMAP with my gmail account. They are gone when I log into gmail. They are gone in Thunderbird. But I have not updated my mail on my iPhone...any chance I can recover them from there?

For the past 3 days it has been saying either my IMAP is failing or my outgoing server is failing. I don't know what to do and I need my emails for school. I have a 4s but I just recently updated and it seems like it all started after that. I have internet and my emails work on the computer so it has to be something with my phone itself.

So my gmail address list or contacts seems to have been hacked and all my contacts who are still talking to me have told me so.So I changed my gmail password. No more complaints, and probably no more friends as contacts.Â
But seriously, I have been able to get gmail (web) working with my new double authentication password(s). Also, my outlook for MAC is working using the special "generated App Password". (because Outlook cannot do the double authentication thingie)Ditto for the gmail app from google on my iPhone. (it works too).BUT I cannot get the iPhone Mail App to connect to Gmail.
I have deleted (i thought) my existing gmail setup from my iPhone. When I try to re establish the gmail settings, using either the password generated by the MAC / iCloud keychain generator or the App password, I get the message "My Name" is already added.
It looks to me that there is something in the iPhone that matches my gmail address, even though I deleted the account.Â

I've recently setup my email accounts on my Iphone 3GS to use the IMAP protocol.I have 3 email accounts (different domains) all hosted with Ehosting. The problem I'm having is the same for deleted or moved emails, and only happens on the Iphone.Whenever I delete or move an email, it is removed from my inbox, and appears in the trash or deleted items folder, or the destination move folder on my Iphone. However when the Iphone next checks for email, the messages all reappear in the inbox (as read)If I delete or move them again, I end up with multiple copies in the deleted or moved folder destination on the iphne, for however many times I delete or move the mail. The deleted and moved folders on my Iphone, only organise themselves correctly once I check my mail on my mac, or windows laptop, and that deals with the changes made. The problem then starts all over again once the next series of emails are received on the Iphone.Very frustrating when your out and about and you continually receive mail prevously read, deleted or filed in your inbox (albeit read), and not able to access the mail from a mac or laptop.
On my mac (and a laptop) the mail accounts work perfectly with the imap protocol, behaving as I would expect deleted are moved the to the trash or deleted items folder, until such time as I permanently delete them.Messages moved to a different folder phsically move to that folder.Ehosting are suggesting it should work fine, and the problems lies with the Iphone, although I'm not convinced. As a test I also have a SKY.com email address which I never use, but last night I set this up on the Iphone. This is in affect a gmail account, badged up by sky. This account worked and behaved as I would expect on the Iphone (contrary to the problems others experience with gmail accounts), with deleted or moved messages, being placed in the correct folder on the Iphne, and not re-appearing in the Iphnes inbox on the next check for mail.Hopefully I've explained the problem with enough details for someone to offer a fix or resolution, and before anyone suggests it, I dont want to revert to POP emails.
On my old unlocked (T-Mobile) iPhone, Push notifications worked, but after upgrading to an iPhone 3G, I don't receive Push notifications.
Is this a known issue and is there a fix?
I have Gmail pushed to my phone via Google's push instructions (exchange server).Because I want push notifications, I am in search of the best notification app.I have used Gpush in the past and it seemed to be decent. I then read that Push Gmail was better, so I made the switch and have been using it ever since. My experience with both of these apps has been that both are prone to outages (sometimes days/weeks long) and delays in pushing notifications to my phone. Is there a better app? Is there a way to do it without an app?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI wanted to know how to set up push email, on 3GS I had to do it through the exchange route to get push email with gmail. Is it the same now or can I do it through the gmail option when setting it up?Will it be better?I am asking because there used to be a delay with exchange so will this be better or will it not have push?
View 11 Replies View RelatedSo ever since I got my i4 my push notifications do not come in on WWF at all. Before when I updated to iOS4 on my 3G I would get them all the time. But on my i4, I do not. Is anyone else having the same problems?
I'm using the free app and never had this problem til I used this game on my i4.
I noticed that the push notifications weren't working after I downloaded the app 'Draw Something'. Not blaming the app at all, btw. My wife gets notified when it's her turn and I don't. My wife also has a 4S and we have notifications set the same. So I upgraded to 5.1 last night and still no push notifications. I set espn and tvguide to give me a lot of notifications and have not got anything. I downloaded ipusher app and it's not working either. I'll assume the app is working and my phone isn't.
