IPhone :: Selling 3GS Or 4 / How To Swap Data On SIM Card?
Jun 7, 2010
I'll be selling my new 3GS (hopefully for $400) and buying a iPhone 4. When I did this with the 3G to 3GS, I just swapped SIM cards in the iPhone at an AT&T store. With the iPhone 4 using a smaller SIM card, how is that going to work? Hopefully I'll sell my iPhone 3GS this week and then I'll be waiting for a couple of weeks for the iPhone 4.
Currently I have a 2GB memory card on my E63 (latest firmware), which has 3 'paid-for' applications and several free downloaded applications, loads of mp3s etc. I have purchased a 4GB memory card already, and would like to "do something" that would help me retain the entire contents of the current 2GB memory card, onto the 4GB memory card, s.t. apart from extra file space (which I plan to use for photos, videos, music), all other applications and current content remain available on the new card, w/o any other impact. I believe that backing up and restoring via 'Nokia PC Suite' won't save my apps, and only some of the data. E.g. it won't save the eBooks I have.
I'm pretty new to this whole wireless/smartphone business, so forgive me if this question seems daft.
Say I were to buy an iPhone 4 for full price from Telus (my local, Canadian provider), could I use this phone internationally, say in Britain on a different network? Not just through roaming, but through sim card swap so I wouldnt be going through Telus whatsoever.
Brand new to this forum. I've had a Curve 8900 for two years without a problem. Everything works OK. I've just got a new Curve (Same model) - but when I swap over the SIM card the Email is not configured. The phone and messaging work fine but if I try and send an Email it says "No message services configured. You will be redirected to setup wizzardto set up your Email account" then it says "No message services configured, you will only be able to save to draft".But if a I swap averything back to my old phone it all works fine - no problem. What am I doing wrong or what do I have to do to get my Emails working on the new phone Thanks in advance.
Yesterday I replaced my SD Card from a San disk 32GB to a Sandisk 64GB for use with my Nokia Lumia 1520. Before I done that, I copied like for like the directories on the 32GB card to the 64GB card. Everything is there but its does not recognized my apps and i have to uninstall it the re-install it. Only apps installed on the phone are still there. Also my photos are there in the file manager but they don't come up in the Main Photo Gallery.
MY Nexus 5 suffered a battery failure recently. I have managed to replace that and all good with respect to that. However, since then I am unable to get my phone to recognise the SIM. The SIM was working fine but now I can't connect to my network (Tesco), It seems to recognise the SIM as it states - "No Service - Tesco" in the status panel at the top of the screen. The phone is well out of warranty and was bought directly from CarphoneWarehouse.
I've tried my wife's micro SIM in the Nexus and no luck there either. Further, I've tried my SIM in another old phone and it works fine. Finally, I've resorted to having a new SIM sent out by Tesco and tried that .... and still no luck.
I've tried a factory reset a few times and inserted the SIM with the phone switched off ....
We've all been struggling to get through Apple and AT&T's servers since 4AM this morning. I've just been trying to get two 16GB iPhone 4's, preferably white, for me and my wife. With enough perseverance, I managed to wrangle one (1) pre-order for black 16GB iPhone 4 from AT&T's Premier site, and it luckily shows "processing." At the same time, I also managed to grab two (2) reservations for black 16GB iPhone 4's at Apple's site, one using their website, and one with the Apple Store app (which, by the way, was extremely fast).
The bottom line is I have an extra reservation (possible because of two Apple IDs, I guess?). I'm still aiming to preorder the second 16GB iPhone 4 at AT&T, if the site will let me.Come launch day, the lines will be long. The stores will be crazy. Someone is bound to walk away without an iPhone 4, and someone will want one bad enough to pay money for it. If you had an extra reservation, would you sell it?
I'm selling my 3g and have someone lined up to buy it next week. I know the new iphone uses the micro sim card so there's no need to pull mine. Do I just set it back to factory settings or what do I need to do before handing it over to the owner?
I'm selling my iPhone 3G 16GB today for $200 and moving to Verizon and the Droid. I'm going to miss my iPhone dearly but AT&T is bad in my area so I'm forced to switch. When they deactivate my iPhone, what do I have to do before selling it? Do I simply do a "restore as a new phone" with the current OS? I dont want the person that's getting my old phone to have my emails/contacts/credit card etc.Any help is greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know what happens if you get an (activated) iPad micro-SIM and put it in a PC data card? Grabbing the $30/month for unlimited data before it goes away would be attractive if it works.
I'm aware I'd have to get a micro-SIM to SIM adaptor, but what else? Change the APN my PC uses? Does AT&T check the IMEI? I've been searching but no one seems to have tried it, unless my search-fu skills are failing me.
Now that I have my iPhone 4 pre-ordered, I need to get rid of my 3G. It is currently not unlocked (to my knowledge), but it is jailbroken. What steps should I take before listing my phone for sale on eBay to ensure none of my data is on the phone, and to get maximum value out of it? Is there any easy way to reset it to factory settings? Is there an easy way to unlock it (I'm assuming this will add value)?
I skipped the 3gs but when I got the 3g the only places to get the iPhone was apple and at&t. Now you have apple, at&t best buy, radio shack and walmart.I think alot of people will still go to apple and at&t but having it available at these other retailers should still curb the lines a little bit.
We are on AT&T family plan and we have my 3gs and a 2g on the plan. I have my old 3g laying around. Can I just swap the sims and change the data plan through OLAM??
I am buying my friend's 3Gs iphone, and I have already a 3G. Can I simply swap my sim card into her old phone, and continue using my current plan and number through AT&T, or do I have to call AT&T to do any activating of this new phone?(her old one)I'm hoping I don't have to call them at all (what a hassle). Can anyone let me know of their experiences doing this and if that is all there is to it or is there more?
I apologize for a very elementary question in advance. I purchased an iPhone 4, but my wife wanted to hold out for a white one.In the meantime, she updated her 3G to ios4.01, which was a HUGE mistake. All apps crash, many work but act strangely.I still have my old 3G, which I think I did update to ios 4, but which continued to work fine.Is it possible for us to have AT&T swap numbers between the handsets, so that she can use my old 3G? If that's possible it would be like rolling her present phone back to the previous OS, which worked OK.Is this a feasible idea. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I had this issue 4 days ago. I have an IPhone 4s that is still well within the one year warranty. Under this warranty you should be able to receive a replacement set of the iPhone headphones if something stops working. In my case my microphone on my headphones stopped working, so I went into an apple store, met with a technician and traided out my iPhone headphones for what I though was a replacement pair of iPhone headphones. When I returned home I found that the headphones I was given were iPod headphones without the microphone or controls.
I currently have a White iPhone 4S 16GB, at the time I purchased it through Verizon they had told me that I had to get the White version since the Black version was still out of stock. I figured that I can use the 14 day guarantee to my advantage so that when the Black version came back into stock I could just swap it out, well that wasn't the case at all since it didnt come back into stock in that time frame. So I'm stuck with a White iPhone at the moment when I really just want the Black iPhone. I spoke with Verizon and they informed me that there was nothing else that they could do but that it was possible to bring my iPhone into a store and see if they would be willing to exchange it for the Black iPhone. Before I went into Apple and testing this theory out, does anyone here know if this is a plausible solution or am I basically just stuck with the iPhone that I have?
The 3G issue has made the phone simply unbearable to use. I plan on keeping T-Mobile, actually happy with their service. My question is if I put Nexus One up for sale on ebay what will be my costs?150 to google *unsure how they would know the phone was sold*+?
Am I correct that each nexus one is essentially unlocked. Even though I bought it with a plan, if I get another unlocked phone and take it to a T-mobile store will I have to extend my contract? Better question is if I buy another phone under T-mobile will they extend my contract? I'm looking at the HTC HD 2 pending Microsofts conference on Monday.
I have two phones, one that I need to send back to apple and its replacement. I did a clean JB install on the new phone. I was wrongly under the impression that ANY restore, even from a backup, would kill the JB. so I saved my contacts, calendar, call history, and texting, files from the old phone to my desktop via SSH (ifunbox). Then I “ported” those saved files onto the new phone. Later I discovered that the phone app would not open, just kept crashing. While I could not open the phone app, I was able to receive calls, however, I had no phone tools like speaker phone or mute. I replaced the contact and call history files again (copied from the old phone) and that fixed the problem, although the contacts are now sorted by last name instead of first name which kinds sucks... Now I discovered that the messaging app crashes when I hit send. It will open fine, and it has all my texts in it, but crashes when I hit send. I just had a friend text me and I did not get the text.
Here is what I think I did wrong: I think, although I cannot be certain, that I may have put the files into the wrong directory. That is, I may have put them into var/mobile/library instead of private/var/mobile/library. The messaging app still works in the old phone, albeit without a sim card in it. I suppose I should just copy both these files again from the old phone and put them onto the new one, but since I am new at this, and do not have my ECID stored on cydia, I need to be VERY careful not to screw things up AGAIN lol or it will be 3.1.3 for me . So I need someone experienced to tell me how to best proceed??
I've read through the excellent iPhone Upgrade Guide, and discovered the "upgrade swap" process and now I'm wondering if I can take advantage of it..My son and I are on a family plan, we both have iPhone 3GS's and since his line is the "main" line on our account, he's eligible to get a new iPhone 4 at the $299 price right now ..
My line is the secondary line and checking via https://buyiphone.apple.com/WebObjec...adeEligibility for my line shows my price for an iPhone 4 would be $699 before Dec 20, 2010 and $499 after Dec 20, 2010
My folks have an entirely separate account and they have their own famliy plan, checking my dad's line, he's eligible to get a new iPhone 4 at the $299 price right now; my mom's line is eligible for an iPhone 4 for $499 before May 21, 2011 and $299 after May 21, 2011.Anyway, reading through the upgrade guide, the upgrade swap asks "Can I use someone else's upgrade? Yes, this is called an "upgrade swap""
I've read through a ton of threads here about upgrade swap, but it seems everyone is talking about the "someone else" being an additional line on their existing account.Has anyone done an upgrade swap using a person/line that isn't on their own account? and if so, how easy or hard is what I'm asking?I'm not sure if I'm reading too much or too little into the upgrade swap section of the upgrade guide..
I bought a 16gb MicroSD card for my 5230 Nuron. How do I transfer everything from the original 4gb card to the new card? I've downloaded some apps and themes and I want to make sure they get transferred to the new card. I tried doing a full backup and restore using Ovi Suite and some of the downloaded apps made it and some didn't. I tried to re-download some of them from Ovi Store but Ovi Store seemed to think they were still there and wouldn't let me download them again. Is it as simple as copying the contents of the old card to the new card?
I am selling my 8900. Tell me what steps should I take, like taking a backup, copying my contacts etc etc. Can someone pls guide me step by step. Pls also tell me how "wipe handheld" works. Does it ask for a password? what does it delete and what it does not?
I used SSH to connect to my phone and swap fonts manually. I renamed Helvetica.ttf to HelveticaOLD.ttf and then dropped in the new font whose name was ALSO Helvetica.ttf.However, the system font hasn't changed. I thought It may have not transferred correctly, so I did it again and it still didn't work.So just to be sure I downloaded the font to my desktop from my phone and it shows the correct font in the preview. What am I doing wrong?
A few hours ago I put my iPhone 3GS on ebay. I've been buying from ebay for years, but never sold anything. I have no idea what price. Right now I started the bidding at $200, but I think that might be to high to start if off like that. I did the bid for 3 days because I wanted to get the Lost Complete Series Blu-Ray Collection ASAP (hopefully on Tuesday) lol.
I can still edit my price, since no one has bided on it yet.
Here is what I'm offering, Apple iPhone 3GS Black (32GB) in Like NEW CONDITION, iOS 4.0.2 Software, perfect screen (absolutely no scratches anywhere on the iPhone 3GS). Includes original box, headphones and USB cable / wall charger. In Great condition, Belkin Grip Two-Toned Vector Case for smartphone - Black, white Silicone (slight wear to the case)
I was thinking in the area of $150-$225 for a 3 day long bid? Anyone have any suggestions? I see people buying it for over 400 dollars, so I don't want me missing out since I'm an ebay selling noob.
edit: Ok I did some research.... I'm just wondering on some feedback for a first time seller... How does this ad look.... I have zero bids so far, so I'm trying lol. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_500wt_1154
I am trying to replace the screen for my 8520 but am a bit confused because the version number reads as 004/111/112 and I cant find anyone selling this version number anywhere. A lot of people are selling 004/005 so I was wondering if that version is compatible or not. If anyone has had the same problem or knows of a solution I would greatly appreciate any help.
