My iphone was stolen today. Is it possible to use "find my iphone" in icloud after my SIM card has been deactivated? I am in South-Africa. I can see my device in icloud - but it reads offline. Could the phone just be off?

So I deactivated it and turned it on once again.The message "Waiting for activation.." never goes away and it keeps verifying my phone number. I bought a Sprint iphone 4 from someone who had deactivated due to he couldnt afford the extra data package; therefore the ESN is bad and not free and clear. I have a 12yr old son with Down Syndrome who had played with his sisters ipod touch and I thought we might be able to get him to like this one instead. When I showed him the Angry Birds game, to our astonishment, he took to it immediately. It is the first time he's ever played, and completed any game, ever. Needles to say what I bought for parts(I have a cell phone repair business) has now become his phone. Usually in these cases I do a complete reset, but instead, I have deleted all the prior owners personal information and reset up the wifi and my email info.
The problem I'm having is getting Facetime to work on this used iphone 4. Another daughter is away at college, has an iphone 4 with AT&T, and we would love for our son to be able to talk to the sister he misses so much. I have set up an account in Apple, followed all the instructions, and it never gets past the "Verifying"message then "Activation unsuccessful. Turn on Facetime to try again." We are utilizing Wifi and have a good strong connection, because I can surf the net and get into my AOL account.

I tried to restart my old iPhone4 that I kept as a Backup phone for the family, after some six months of not using it. I got a message on the screen saying that it is deactivated and I should retry in some 3720 minutes. That is 38 hours too long as it is needed right away. Is there any way to sort this out on the spot? iTunes gave me a message that I should respond to it from the phone in order to conect, but I am unable to use the phone with the exceprion of emergency calls.

View 9 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody know if the touch screen on the ES400 can activated/deactivated whilst making calls?The problem is, that as the hangup or mute are availabe functions for use, when you are on a call and have the device pressed against your ear/cheek you can either put the phone on mute, or even cut the caller off completely. It would need to be a function to switch on and off, as you may need to use the screen to turn hands free on etc.

When I'm in a call, sometimes I hear the sound of pressing a button, and when I take the phone away from my ear to check what happened, I keep finding the Notification Panel open with different options activated / deactivated. Sometimes I find it directly in Settings, in Battery Usage, in Date/Time, I think it depends on which option is pressed in the Notification Panel.

I do cross country so i run 5 miles every morning. I've been messing around with a lot of apps to track my runs. I started out with nike+ and i must say it is very feature-limited and not accurate (4.4% error after calibration) compared to GPS with the motionX app (~2% error compared to google maps). so far i've tried:
-Nike+
-motionX GPS
and i just downloaded Runkeeper and i'll be trying that out. Any other apps i should try? Runkeeper looks promising so far.
I have scores of apps on my iPhone (and iPad). Many, many I've never used since the day I installed them or only used a couple of times. It'd be interesting to have an app that would tell me how many times I used each, and that way I could get rid of the ones that haven't been used in the past month or two. In fact, I wouldn't even mind a mass delete of the ones I haven't used in months!
I'm thinking, though, that such an app would require inter-communication with other apps, or system-level monitoring that only Apple could provide. Hey, maybe there's something in Settings that would show that?! I know that I discovered after too many months the Usage screen buried inside Settings that tells me how much space each app is taking up.
