Google Nexus 5 :: Why Doesn't Screen Turn On When Hit Power Button
Dec 31, 2014Hitting the power button does not turn the display on. Actually nothing turns the display on. This began happening occasionally, for a few seconds at a time. Then it became a few minutes at a time. Now it is permanent.
What's truly odd is that the phone seems to be completely working otherwise. It rings, alarms go off, indicator lights flash. It connects to my car over bluetooth and if I plug in headphones and hit the play headphones' action button, music starts. If I hold the power button down, every 5s I get a little haptic feedback, and it appears to reboot if I hold power and volume up (or down, I can't recall), so I know the buttons are working.
I even have a suspicion that touchscreen digitizer is working because I think I've dismissed a few notifications by double-tapping (I'm on Lollipop). Also, I swear I have seen very fleeting, very dim views of the unlock screen a few times.
I should also add that I took advantage of Google's recent replacement policy lenience - this is a refurb I've had for a month or two.
I'm contemplating replacing the screen/digitizer on the theory that this is a broken screen. It feels like the backlight is broken. But I'd rather not spend the $$$ and time if the problem is deeper than that.

Apr 10, 2012A couple days ago, this happened, but it did not work after many force restarts. I restored it to factory settings, and I got to the part where it says to let your phone restart, but after it did, the iPhone turned off and now it will not turn back on. iTunes cannot see it and I have tried charging it and it does not work. It had iOS 5.1.

Apr 29, 2012Today while I was sleeping my iPhone fell out of my pocket and onto the carpeted floor. When I woke up, I tried pressing the home button and the power button. However, my phone did not turn on nor show any change in the display. I then connected it to my power-outlet charger, thinking that it was a battery problem and voila, it turned on. After a short while a message came on the screen that said "Activation Required" so I unlocked my phone and continued to the next screen. At this point, it said to connect to iTunes. I disconnected my phone and immediately the display went dead. I repeated the procedure of connecting it to a wall-outlet and then disconnecting it with no change in the result. I really need my phone to work because it has all of my major contacts and such.

Apr 6, 2012This afternoon my Iphone 3gs started to vibrate continously for about 2/3 minsutes whilst having a black screen. I then tried to bring the home screen up and none of the buttons would work. The power button hasn't worked for sometime so the remedy of holding the power and home button together won't work.
Is there anything I can do or is it completely dead with no chance of survival?

Dec 2, 2014It's my boyfriend's iPhone & we've dropped it plenty of times in the past going on 6 months now, so you can imagine it has plenty of cracks & the back had come off to where we taped it back on. Recently - a few days to a week ago I dropped it & it seemed fine until I tried taking a picture of our cats and the camera opened to a black screen. Everything else works fine except the speaker when we call out we have to put it on speaker for someone to hear us - already tried cleaning out all the ports. I don't want him to go to the iPhone store and have them complain about all the issues wrong with the phone and go extreme bill on him either. Yes I have tried restarting his phone, I just don't want to completely reboot it when it's under his mom's account & her iCloud. & The front facing camera works.

Mar 13, 2012My daughter dropped my wifes iphone in the bath and it will now only power up when plugged into the mains. When plugged in it cannot find the sim and according to the local apple store the wifi antenna is also broken. We are not bothered about the phone it is the 1500 photos and videos of our girls which we don't want to lose. The phone hasn't been backed up recently and she is not registered with icloud so that is out the window. So, I thought that if the phone could be powered by the mains and somehow connected to my mac at the same time I could perhaps get the photos synced.
It worth pointing out that the USB doesn't turn the phone on when connected to the mac. Is there such a cable in existence which has two usb leads from the iphone dock connector? I just cant believe that the photos and videos cannot be accessed and saved by a company that always tells us they are cutting edge and ahead of the rest of the market, especially as the phone traded in will get, repaired, wiped and sold on as a refurbed phone, if they can do that they can get us our files off.

Jul 11, 2010I haven't seen anyone having this issue out of the numerous ones I've seen on this site. My iPhone 4's screen was sometimes going black. Hitting the home or power button wouldn't turn it back on. I'd have to hold down the home and power buttons to do a hard reboot to get it back up.
I returned my phone yesterday to get replaced because I was also having the No SIM Card Installed error. My new iPhone 4 is having the same black screen issue occasionally, though.

IPhone 5 Not Charging But Will Power On If Turn Phone Off
Sep 8, 2014for a couple of weeks now the connection on my iPhone 5 has been bad when trying to charge. It would constantly connect and then disconnect straight away until you got it into a very still position where the cable or the phone would not be touched. Now the phone has stopped charging altogether. I have checked the charging port to see if there is any lint but there is none in there. The strange thing is that if you turn the phone off, and then plug the cable into the phone it recognize it and then will turn on.I have got a genius bar appointment in the next couple of days but will have to go without a phone until then, and it is also out of warranty so I assume apple will try to make me pay for it if it needs fixing. Apr 9, 2012It has been acting up the past few days, randomly turning itself off, and I am trying to get it to turn back on. Randomly it will turn back on when I push the power button, but is unresponsive when doing all the reset combos. Today it turned itself off while sitting on the table at home. I have not been able to get it back on and its been about 6 hours now, and its been plugged in to the wall charger the whole time. If I take it to apple, can they pull the serial number off for warranty purposes?

Dec 27, 2012Nokia E6 with Symbian Belle Refresh which I bought just a couple of days ago.It does not detect wifi internet connections at all, although they are available. When I go to settings -> connectivity and then select wifi, it searches connection for a while and then shows that none are found. Meanwhile, my old Nokia E72 remains connected to my home wifi without any problem... I am really surprised and disappointed. Also when I try to set up the connection manually, it doesn't work at all.I can't believe that such a device is being sold, a wifi connection is something extremely necessary nowadays in a smartphone. I was so attached to Nokia but I feel like it is my last Nokia phone because this is just unbelievable
