Apr 4, 2012I dropped my iPhone 4s from 2 feet above the floor and the whole front glass shattered. When I enter my serial # online it says Repairs and Service Coverage: Active. I am still under 1 year warranty but I am sure this wont be covered. Will it cost a flat $199 to get it replaced at the Apple store? Do they replace it right there in store or does it get sent in? Should I have someone (capable) self-repair if the phone is still in 1 year warranty?

BB Torch :: Front Panel Fell Off?
Dec 13, 2011I got my blackberry torch a while ago and about a month later the front panel (calling buttons and back buttons) fell off. i was just using the buttons and they come loose a few days later they fell off. i could not at this time send the phone off to be repaired but i am now trying to and they are saying it will cost me a lot of money although my phone is under warranty?

Feb 25, 2012I'm having an issue with my new Torch 9810 where the 4 front control keys remain illuminated after the touch screen dims out (phone answer key, blackberry key, return key, end call key). The only way to fix it temporarily is doing a battery pull but after about an hour it happens again. Really drains the battery down fast. Nov 19, 2010I have a real problem at sliding when I slide down the buttons are enlighted(the control ones : up, down, left, right, answer, hang up and the other two ) , BUT when i slide up they are not anymore I also tried to see in the dark how do i manage to use the cellphone and it does't work quite well I hope you can find something that will help me I also have to tell that I updated the cellphone once to the final update and I also master reseted it.
I added two pictures that I think would help you understand the problem. I hope you will find a solution that will work for this. I surely don't want to wait 2 weeks before it comes out from the service for it because this minor problem.
IPhone :: 30 Times Harder Than Plastic
Jul 7, 2010I'm a new iPhone user, but I use only Mac products. That being said, I'm not a fanboy. I'm just a designer and photographer that requires this kind of equipment for my work. I waited 3 generations for Apple to work out its bugs and when I saw the iPhone 4, I knew it was time to buy. Everyone has been talking about the antennae. It's pretty much been talked to death, so yeah, I have that same issue and I use a rubber bumper. But, am I the only one that really confused about the strength of the glass? Apple writes, "Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic". But I've never had any plastic item, no matter how fragile shatter when dropped. Is this not a blatant marketing deception? Can anyone tell me if they've ever dropped a plastic anything and it shattered?

Jul 9, 2010Do you think that Apple made a calculated risk with it's new antenna design? Let's take the 3G/3GS.....the antenna is on the inside of the phone behind essentially an outer plastic shell. So a naked iPhone 3GS the antenna signal goes through 1 layer (the plastic back).
Do you think Apple had enough research and statistics to show that the majority of users put an iPhone in some sort of case, whether that case is plastic or silicone? So now on a 3GS, the antenna has to go through the plastic back, then a plastic/silicone case....now it's going through 2 layers. Do you think they determined that this combo caused a lower/weaker signal?
Now the iPhone 4....antenna on the outside. Do you think Apple took a calculated risk in knowing that most people put it in a case anyway (heck even Steve in one of his emails suggested using a case) and the fact they came out with the bumper....that they knew since most people would put a case on it....that the antenna being on the outside would provide a stronger signal?
Yes, the people who choose to go caseless with their phones are more easily affected by the issue, but since that may be the minority of users, Apple is ok with saying "Hold it differently"? We all know Apple does things based on what they "think" the majority of users will do....ie: no firewire on low end Macbooks.I don't know anything about antenna signals, so I'm just guessing here.....but if an antenna's signal is degraded behind each layer of plastic etc, then by moving the antenna outside, Apple is giving it a better chance at getting a stronger signal, even though there is a side effect of direct contact with skin that can cause the signal to degrade significantly.
Tests I would like to see are the difference in signal strength in a 3GS with the back on and the back off.

Jun 14, 2012So I just got an iPhone yesterday , to make an apple ID I used my email address.It told me the email is already in use , even though I never made an apple ID before but anyway it told me to change the password for it ,So I went and did that but it seemed like somebody else had been already using my email address as their apple ID because when I went into manage account , firstly the name was totally different , the address was Canada's and a phone number was there too and security questions were asked in French.Now that sort of freaked me out, has someone hacked my email address or what ? And why would they use my email address as their apple ID why couldn't they use their own ? Btw I didn't change any information on the account yet just Incase I had to report it to apple ( and I'm still not able to use it as my apple ID)

Mar 21, 2012Ever since I got my iPhone 4S in December, I've been bothered by what appears to be some sort of etching in the glass. I can't feel it, but it shows up if I "breathe" on the glass. It's fairly large, about 2.5" x 1", I guess. It looks like a camera lens with a fungus that's penetrated the seal inside the lens. I know it isn't a "big deal", but it also kind of annoys me. Does anyone else have a similar issue, or do I stand alone? Is it worth getting an Apple store to check it out and replace the glass if necessary?

Jul 4, 2012I have cracked both the front and the back of my iPhone badly and I'm looking at buying replacement glass for it. I currently have black glass on my iphone and would like to replace it with white.As a result of dropping my phone then cracking the screens, I think I may have damaged the arial, I don't get or have less signal then what I used to, also my phone struggles to pick up wifi even if I am close to the router.
I spoke to my network and they said to get anything internal repair I must get the screens fixed but that is not covered in my warrenty. So I have found replacement glass in white and I am wondering if I change the colour of my iPhone, will I still be able to get my arial fixed in an apple store or by my network? My other option is to claim on my insurance and get a replacement phone that way, however I am unsure if they will due to the cracked screens.Am I better of replacing the screens with new black glass or am I able to change the colour?

Apr 18, 2012I have an IMAC, 2008 intel model. It accepts all DVDs I have but will not load some DVD's I just had made from VHS tapes. The company says that their MACs load the discs ok and they local apple store loads them ok. They also load on my windows XP machine ok. But on my IMAC they go in the slot grind a little and then are ejected again. Anybody got a solution to this?
