Nov 19, 2012I've had this issue before with Windows Phones where I ordered an HTC Titan from AT&T and it wouldn't allow me to use Wifi Hotspots even though I have it enabled on my Rogers account.
Does anyone know or can test it the new Windows Phones have the same issue? I'm interested in ordering a Cyan Lumia 920 from USA and unlocking it, but don't want to do this if Wifi tethering is locked to AT&T.

Jun 24, 2011I have been traveling a lot recently and taking advantage of using the airport lounges to relax before boarding my flights. The Admirals Club (American Airlines), the Red Carpet Club (United Airlines), the Chairman's Club (US Airways) often offer complimentary wifi access, usually via T-Mobile. Typically what you do is navigate to a web page co-branded with the airline's logo and click on "Wifi access" or a similar link.The problem is that the T-Mobile hotspot categorizes the Bravo as a phone, not a PC browser, and never takes you to the specific page for that airport lounge; I kept getting sent to a page where I was supposed to log in with a T-Mobile username. I finally gave up and called T-Mobile hotspot support who pointed me in the right direction even though they don't sell the Bravo.
Open your Bravo's stock browser.Enter about:debug in URL field and press Go. No visible feedback is given after the command is entered. Select Menu --> More --> Settings. At the bottom of the Settings list you should see 9 items in a section called Debug.Select the UAString item and choose Desktop.Press the back arrow to return to the browser. You should now be able to access the URL that gives you the lounge wifi access. You can set the UAString back to Android once you're connected to the wifi, I found.

Feb 20, 2012I'm having trouble with my 4G Xoom; I've visited Tim Hortons and Dunkin Donuts, and have logged onto their free wifi, but each store uses the same SSID, and if I pull into the parking lot, my Xoom switches from 4G to wifi to connect. Now I believe the saved profiles are corrupted on my Xoom, as when I leave these establishments, my Xoom will not automatically go back to 4G, and requires a reboot to switch over. I would like to just clear my wifi settings and saved hotspots, but can't find a way to do this. I just wiped and restored my tablet, but it restored all of my hotspot settings and reloaded them. Also, the "forget" command is only available when you are within range of a hotspot

Mar 28, 2012I have the iphone 4s and recently found out that my network allows me to tether other products to the iphone by using the Personal Hotspot option, and the data is included in my mobile bundle. I am looking at purchasing the new iPad, and perhaps just going for the wifi version as I can then use my iphone personal hotspot when another wifi network is not available.
My network is Orange UK - who have recently announced that they are to have a full 4g network up and running by the end of the year. If my iphone picks up a 4g signal, will this automatically make the wifi hotpost created by the phone for the iPad quicker than if it was connected to my phone with a 3g signal?

Jul 16, 2011I was always using on other phones with Android 2.2 FroYo that 3G mobile hotspot feature, which was included right in the Android system under Wireless Networks settings.Now in Defy there is no option like that under settings in FroYo. Defy includes own app called 3G Mobile Hotspot, which should work like that option for creating mobile WiFi hotspots in other Android phones. But here is the problem.On my older phone with Android 2.2 I could create 3G WiFi hotspot wherever I needed and it worked. But now, with Defy, when I use that application 3G Mobile Hotspot, it writes me error when creating WiFi hotspot "Cannot set up data link, please contact your service provider" I suppose it is something with my carrier (Vodafone_CZ), but when I used 3G WiFi hotspots on older phones (which had that feature included right in Android settings menu) it worked without problems and I a used mobile phone for 3G internet sharing with my laptop.Now I remember, that I have deleted some DUN profile under APN Internet profiles, could it be that problem, that 3G Mobile Hotspot app is not working?how to create WiFi hotspot on my Defy for example with some other app?Or if not, how can I use Internet Tethering in Defy Mobile Networks menu via Bluetooth (my laptot has BT). I usually just scan for networks available..login to the hotspot and everything works.

Jan 12, 2010I have looked through countless forums and documentation and can not find any definitive answer as to whether or not a Blackberry smartphone can, via WiFi, can connect to a VPN without BES. All documentation and How-To's point in the direction of BES to answer all my questions.
What I would like is a yes or no answer. Does the Blackberry support VPN to a Microsoft VPN server via L2TP or PPTP without BES? To be even more specific: Can I connect, without BES, with EAP-SIM authentication via IKE-V2 protocol, via a VPN connection?
I actually have looked at a lot of the documentation and my gut feel is that it is not possible, but I need confirmation so that I can inform my company of the Blackberry's feature set and limitations.

Feb 8, 2013Problem: My main objective is to use a motorola droid 2 and an ipad to share internet connection. The droid will provide the internet connection to the ipad through bluetooth. I have read in only two places that this is possible, and without any downloaded applications on either side. I can connect the two devices together using bluetooth and they seem to be communicating. The ipad displays the bluetooth sign and the interlocking chain links that indicate data transfer. the droid shows a stable bluetooth connection as well. everything seems to work great right? Well after using the ipad for say a speedtest or two (2mbs or so) using the droids internet connection, a problem occurs on the droid. the 3g data connection to verizon becomes disconnected and the icon disappears. Then the 3g data restarts and the icon reappears, a couple seconds later it disconnects again and the cycle continues in an infinite loop. Meanwhile the ipad is receiving no data through the bluetooth connection. The only way to stop the 3g data cycling is to disconnect the bluetooth link between the two devices, after that the droids 3g connection becomes stable. i have many hypotheses but ill disclose those later. By the way i've looked everywhere for an answer to this and nobody, and i mean nobody seems to ask about this problem. either they don't have this problem or they don't even do this kind of thing. I've factory reset my motorola droid 2 global and done many restarts with no gain. it is unrooted fyi.
