I used the Reset data function on the phone and it hung. I have attempted to restore it in recovery mode, itunes says"preparing iphone" and the phone shows an empty status bar before it resets and i receive a 1611 error msg. 3GS model.

I am updating my iPhone 3GS to IOS 5. I downloaded the update in iTunes and according to iTunes, it appeared to have completed backing up, installing the update, restoring apps, music and videos.
But my phone is stuck with the Apple on the screen and a progress thermometer display that isn't moving at all. Also, in iTunes, the capacity display on the bottom of the Summary tab says I have mostly "other" and have 11.1 GB free. Before I started I had 1.2 GB free.
What do I do? Is it okay to disconnect it and reconnect it and restore or start over?

View 3 Replies View RelatedLooks like ios4 has a bad bug. Data roaming can occur even when the option for DR is set to off.
First, my prob. Brand new iPhone 4 set up as new. On first arrival in foreign country, emails start to download, can surf safari, even though no wifi and DR set to off.
Problem fixed by turning DR on and off again. Now DR blocked as required.
On a 3GS upgraded to ios4. Same initial probs as above butnpeob persists!
Phone continues to download data in background! When safari activated, DR-off message appears but data still downloads. Only way to turn off the DR is to change APN settings.
Be warned folks -and, anyone's experienced this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm probably gonna get flamed, but here goes.I have a 32 3GS that I jailbroke with Spirit for 3.1.3. I got my new iP4 and wanted to reset the phone with out getting away from 3.1.3 (so I could rejailbreak super easy for sale). I did "Reset all Data and Settings" under the settings menu. From what I understand, this would erase all music, videos, email accounts, texts, ect and also erase everything from the JB, themes, apps, mods, ect.
Basically reset it back to 3.1.3 stock, without using iTunes.I was under the impression this would take somewhere between 1 - 2 hrs. But the Apple logo and Progress Bar showed up, the Bar filled up after a minute or two and the phone restarted. It then sat at the Apple logo for over 10 minutes before I noticed. I assumed it was "bricked" and attempted to go into DFU mode. When I would hold down the SLeep and Home buttons the Apple Logo would disappear and phone would turn off, but then immediately attempt to restart without me doing anything. So DFU button combo didn't do anything, I also tried Recovery mode to no avail. Is sitting at the Apple Boot Logo forever supposed to be part of this process? Anything else I can do? I am thinking of letting the batt just die completely and recharging it and hoping that will break the endless reboot so I can DFU or Recovery mode the thing.

So I realized that the application memory gradually decrease. It does not gain the memory back when I delete the apps. I don't understand but my application memory is under 10 mb. Yes it is very low. I think that's one reason why my bb curve 3g has been slowing. If there is a way to gain the application memory, that'd be such a great help.Because I don't know how to gain back the application memory, I was thinking to reset the phone to factory setting?
