IPhone :: How To Set Ringtones For Specific People On 4S
May 2, 2012
I recently upgraded from my 3GS to a 4S.I remember when I set the ringtones on the 3GS is was quite easy and intuitive being a selection off of the contacts page iirc. The interface seems to have changed adn I can't figure it out now.
I am able to receive emails on my Blackberry Bold 9700 perfectly fine, and I can send emails to a vast amount of people with no problem. But to a couple of specific people, I am unable to send any emails, and I get a 'red cross' on the email sent, with the status being 'General Failure'.
Is there a way to assign a specific ringtone to 25 out of 100 of my contacts without doing it manually one by one? Is there a quick way to assign them to a group and just assign that group the ringtone?
Is there a way to do it on Outlook so I can do it easier than on my little BB? I assigned about 100 pictures to contacts on Outlook and since the 2 sync, all the pictures showed up with the right contacts. This saved me soooooo much time...I was wondering if there was a way to do similar with ringtones
So far I have been able to assign a ringtone to only 1 contact. For all the others I have tried thus far, I select the ringtone that I want, hit OK and it goes back to the default ringtone. This is strictly the Phone Contact list. I am not using any social networking apps at this time. I do use the Verizon Backup Assistant for my contacts, but that has never been an issue on any of my previous phones. This is the same contact list that was restored from my old phone to this one and the contacts have not changed.
So far I really love this phone, but I seem to have stumbled across somewhat of a glitch that I can't figure out yet. This "smartphone" doesn't seem to allow me what a simple BASIC phone always did....and that is to allow me to assign a different ringtone to specific contacts. I do see that it is an option however it won't save the change on some contacts, but it does on others. I select the contact I want to update, I tap the menu option, then select "Options." I open the Ringtone dropdown, select a new ringtone, tap OK....but when I get out to that previous screen - it once again shows the ringtone as default. I don't understand this. Why will it let me save on some, but not others? I compared one contact that didn't save....to another that did save. They both have the same type of info - a mobile number, an email address, a home address, a facebook link, and a birthday listed. One saved - the other did not.
I just got the 5230 Nuron from T-mobile.I have assigned specific ringtones to individuals but I'm not hearing those ringtones when those people call. I'm still just hearing my generic ringtone. Also when I call or receive a call from someone in my address book, it doesn't show that person's name - it just shows their number. Is there a way I can get the designated ringtones to work and a way I can see the name of the person that's calling me instead of just their number?
I'm not sure why this is and i have tried pretty much everything. people can only hear me when i have my phone on speaker phone.. i cant afford a new iphone since they are like $600 without an upgrade.
This is probably a n00b question, but is there any way to assign a specific ringtone to a specific contact? I just switched from an LG Lotus, where I was able to give each contact a specific ringtone. I'd love to be able to do that with my Style..
On my HTC EVO I could set notification sounds by application. For text messages I had one tone but none for email. On the Photon I have the same tone setup for text messages coming in through Handcent but it also plays for email coming into the native email client which I do not want. Is there anyway to ether turn it off or select a different ring tone for emails?
Also what is the over/under for Motorola getting tired of hearing "I could do it on my HTC..."
I have converted everything that needs to be converted, and the songs i have chose are in my "Ringtones" section on my iPhone, but when i sync the songs they still do not come up in my phone..? any ideas on what to do
I'm looking for a way to make my own ringtones (pick song, choose section of song I want, etc.) or a site that has a ton of ringtones ready to DL for free. The ringtones section of crackberry is nice but the quality of some of the songs I want is not good.
I have 3.01 on my 3G now. I can't use most (or any that I've tried) jailbreaking software because most if not all are for 3.1.2. I have 3.1.2 IPSW downloaded, but when I go to update the firmware in itunes, it only allows me to upgrade to 4.0.1.
Traveling to the states and wish to use an app called gasbuddy which provide a map of gas stations in the US Tried to download it but the response was that the app is available in the US only .How can I benefit from the app or is there a similar one in the Israeli app store
So I got my iphone today. I didn't expect it to come this quickly as I just ordered on Tuesday from ATT so my case and screen protector has not come yet. For those who do not have their stuff ready or go case-less how do you take care of your phone? I'm so paranoid about how I touch my phone. Just wondering.
I just got the IPhone 4 yesterday and connot send text messages to anyone without an Iphone, so the iMessage is working, but not normal text messaging... how do I fix this??? SMS is turned on in settings, even tried turning the phone on and off, but still not working.
When I answer it says it's on speaker but I can't hear a thing and the people on the other end can't hear me either. I can still text and everything but just not call. I've tried everything I can think of like updating it and I've even taken it into a telstra shop and replaced the sim but I still have the same problem.
I've been around since the first IPhone release and apple has never announced a specific case for the 2G, 3G or 3GS. But now with the new IPhone 4 they release a bumper, not really a case. And notice the bumper only surrounds the metal band and thats about the only protection you get? They probably knew about the signal loss during late stages of mass production I'm guessing. This is just interesting to me and speculation.
I have an iPhone 4 my wife has an iPhone 4S both of us are on 5.1 I have been iMessaging her for months and after an unsuccessful iMessage yesterday I am unable to use iMessages with her. I get the blue send button for all of my other iOS users but the button remains green for her messages. I have logged out and back in to iMessaging and have SMS turned off and I've cycled the power on my phone
Had this discussion witha few parents. We have some apps or movies on the iphone to keep kids entertained / busy and if we turn our backs - the kids have pushed buttons and wandered all over, changed settings, etc. How about Apple creates a folder that you can assign a password needed to LEAVE that folder & associated apps? So - this is Junior's folder, kids can play and explore within that boundry and my Calander, notes, schedules, to do and contacts are all off-limits.
Like the title says, im getting sound notifications from gmail account, but when i get new email from an account I have with my local ISP provider (Claro Dominican Republic) I get no sound alerts, has anyone had a similar issue like this?
I tried the usual advice, yes sound notifications is on for new emails the phone dings when I get a new email from my gmail account, tried rebooting and reconfiguring my email account but nothing so far.
I want to block a number that keeps sending me pornographic test messages. My kids use my phone quite a bit and I want to block this specific number. I look on the web and there is a app that looks absolutly perfect for the job called iblacklist. It looks like I need to "jailbreak" my phone which looks like a fairly risky thing to do. Is there a better more responsible way of doing this?
Whenever I try to call one specific contact, my Iphone rings once, then says that the person I'm trying to call is unavailable. I never blocked the person, and the person never blocked me. My texts go through perfectly fine. I just physically can't call them. And it has nothing to do with being out of service or anything because the person can call me back a second later with no problem. I never had this problem until I got my iphone.
Basically, my iphone has been stolen and I did not have 'Find my Phone' downloaded beforehand. I think I might have found someone trying to sell it, after a long time researching and I was wondering if there is anyway of identifying it. I therefore was wondering if the IMEI number, serial number or the part number was specific to the phone as I still have the box with these on.
