IPhone :: Phone Not Working Since 5.1.1 Upgrade?
Jun 8, 2012I received my Iphone as a gift 2 months ago. It was bought in China from an official Apple store. I then went to my local service provider and received a micro-sim on a pay-as-you-go deal. Phone worked perfectly for 2 and half months. I did the 5.1.1 update two nights ago and now the phone is saying: "Only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the sim card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier store to receive a replacement sim card."
I visited both VODACOM (in South Africa) and IStore (3rd party retailer of APPLE as there is NO Apple store in Africa). I put in the original AT&T sim, the phone switched on and recognises me but obviously there is no service because AT&T is not in South Africa. I then put in my Vodacom sim and it rejects it. I used the phone perfectly for 2+months and since the update this problem occured.

IPhone :: Phone Restore To Factory Setting Without Upgrade
Jul 8, 2010I need to restore my iPhone (currently OS 3.1.2) back to its original factory setting. If I do this through iTune, will I have to upgrade to the new OS 4.0?
I don't wish to do that, as I have a new ibootrom, so I near that jail breaking in the new OS is not yet possible unless I have made some smart decision in the past, which I don't know if I did. Anyway, is there anyway I can restore factory settings WITHOUT upgrading to the latest firmware, ie. keep in 3.1.2?

May 17, 2012I've upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS v. 5.1.1 and now both my phone service and data service are no longer working. I called AT&T's (my carrier) tech support and they got it working for a few minutes but as soon as I got off the phone with the agent it stopped working! My account with them is current.

My current situation:
I am on a family plan with a total of two lines. My line is not eligible until 7/23, so all I can get is "early upgrade pricing". My mom's line is currently eligible for "full upgrade pricing". I am planning on using my mom's upgrade to get an iPhone 4. I want to preorder the phone from Apple.com on the 15th, and hopefully receive it the afternoon of the 24th. From my understanding, the microSIM that ships with the phone will be programmed for the line whose upgrade was used. However, the iPhone Upgrade Guide makes it sound like I can call AT&T once I receive the phone (and before I activate it), and have AT&T switch the microSIM from my mom's line to mine. Is this possible?

However, this morning I pulled the battery as an attempt to clear it and see if it would run smoother but that plan backfired on me. The phone boots up but it gets stuck on the Verizon Wireless logo screen.Not sure what to do at this point? I think when I upgraded the desktop manager backed everything up. I did a full factory reset and the phone worked fine for 3 days than I powered it down as I was at a bridge game and when I turned it back on it was worse than ever. Did another factory reset and now it won't load any apps at all. It will sometimes read my SD card and at other times it won't. It did not move across the saved GPS places (favourites).I have been struggling to figure out how to do this (I have even tried finding likely files in the phone's memory using a USB link to the computer) and have had no success. Nokia Suite doesn't seem to acknowledge the existence of the GPS "places" (Nokia Suite 3.3.86)
How do I move these waypoints across from one phone to the other?
