IPhone :: Converting A Used 3GS To An IPod - IMessaging Not Working?
Jun 7, 2012
I just upgraded to a 4S iphone and am giving my 3GS to my son to use as an iPod. I've created an email for him so he can iMessage but it won't receive/send through his email. I've changed every setting I can find. I think its trying to use the phone number even though its no longer has phone service which is why its giving the "Message Send Failure"
I already had iMessage turned on from when I was using the phone as a phone... I created the email and verified it through Apple as an email I want associated with my Apple ID. I went into Settings>Messages>Receive At and added his email address but it won't let me delete my phone number (which is now tied to another iPhone device). I also turned off Send as SMS.I also went to Settings>Messages>Receive At> Caller ID and changed the check mark to be next to his email instead of my number.
I went in the Settings>General>Network and turned off 3G and Cellular Data settings (which I don't think were affecting this, but should be off anyway if he's using it as an iPod.)
I tried going to Settings>Phone and deleting my number out but it won't let the blank remain empty. I tried changing the number to 0 (zero) and then when I opened messages again it immediate popped up a message saying "MMS Messaging Requires Your Phone Number Press Settings to go to your Phone Settings and enter your phone number"
The only thing I haven't done is add this email to the Mail settings, because I really don't want him receiving or sending emails, I only want him to be able to text his grandma, cousins, his dad and me. But I'm wondering if the fact that I haven't actually entered his email account password anywhere (like in a pop server?) is why it isn't working.
I changed the iCloud account on my iPhone 3gs because my friend gave me her old one and it won't let me use my email address for iMessaging. It was her email address so I changed it to mine and all it says now is waiting for activation.
Since upgrading to iOS 5.1, iMessage service does not seem to be working. Messages still go out as texts but these are limited in size due to SMS restrictions (and they get split up), have trouble with attachments, etc.). Basically, iMessaging is great and superior to SMS in so many ways and before I upgraded, it worked. Now it doesn't seem to be working. This is frustrating. I have tried a hard reboot but that doesn't seem to have solved the problem for me. Any ideas? Does anyone know if this is related to the new iOS ver. or is it Apple iMessage service related?
So theres something going on with iMessage. I send an iMessage but after some time i see that was sent out as a regular text message ive had friends from around the globe say that the same thing is happening with them.
We have 3 iphones and an ipad on the same itunes account. We recently upgraded all three phones to the 5.1.1 and now we are having a strange problem. When I imessage it says it is coming from my daughters phone? It seems that all three phones are showing that all imessages are coming from 1 phone. This is not good. Do I have to uninstall and reinstall everything?
Not sure where to post this question but very often my iMessages "fail" (ie: they end up being sent as SMS).Assuming the recipient does not have iMessaging switched off ?does it only work on WiFi and 3G?
I have the new iphone 4s. Recently I have been talking to other iphone users but the imessage takes a long time and then results in sending a text message. Usually this is fine but now these people are writing me back and saying that my phone is just sending them weird symbols and numbers instead of my intended message. if I turn off imessage, my texts seem to be fine but I would like to be able to use imessage still.
I've just came back from Vodafone with a brand new Nokia E72 and very pleased with it, however I've installed Spotify and streamed some music from it, it sounds fine when using the bundled earphones but if I use my iPod earphones or Skullcandy's it sounds awful like its only coming out of one ear, can anyone help?
I have an ipad and iphone and I utilize a gmail account. I have a mobile me account that I purchased with the ipad 2 years ago but I don't think I have anything out there on mobile me. I want to start using icloud. Is there a disadvantage to not converting my mobile me account and just starting with an icloud account with the gmail address I have rather than a me.com email address. I have never really utilized the me.com email.
I have a memo I wish to convert to ringtone. Problem is all solutions make you use iTunes. But I have an iPhone 4 that is only backed up on iCloud & don't use iTunes for syncing. I need to convert that memo to ringtone directly on the iPhone itself or some other way.
Got my 32 GB iPhone 4 yesterday and set up as a new device using the same playlist of music that I used on my 32 3gs. I check marked the box to convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC just like I had in the past with the 3gs. With the 3gs it brought a playlist consisting of 4625 songs at 26.70 GB down to 17 GB. With the iPhone 4 synced it does the same in the drop down menu under devices then iPhone in Music then at the bottom it lists the playlist that I use, both read 4625 songs at 17 GB. At the summary page with the bar at the bottom it reads I have 23.29 GB of audio on the iPhone and unplugging going to settings then about it reads 4625 songs at 23.29 GB. So I only have 4.48 GB free when I should have around 9 or 10. I resynced twice to see if it would change with the same outcome, restored the device and called apple care with no answer on why it reads different.Going to the Apple Store tomorrow unless one of you has a solution to this.
If I use the option to convert higher bit rate songs to 128 AAC for my iPhone, I can no longer see my ringtones that I've synced on the iPhone itself. When I plug the iPhone in, iTunes shows that they are on my phone but when selecting ringtones for contacts, they are not visible. When I uncheck the option and resync, the ringtones are now there. I've tried changing the name of the tones but no luck. Anyone else have this issue or a solution?
I am running Android 5.01 on my LG G3 and when I try to send a message it automatically converts for MMS messaging but will not send the message. It spins saying sending, but will not finish sending it.
I would just like to ask if its possible to convert my E72-1 Model to E72-2? Its just that im not able to connect to 850 band of my operator. Though from screen it display 3.5G i was just able to camp at instead 2100 band only.
Don't know the reason we get a popup stating "Converting to MMS..." when a group convo is opened? It is just kind of annoying that it has to popup every single time.
I have ClockWord Mod Recovery installed and its V6.0.3..2. I wish to install a new ROM but it requires at least V6.0.4.5 and I can't seem to be able to upgrade. I was wondering if I change my recovery to TWRP and I manage to upgrade to the latest version?! I was wondering how do I actually convert ?
Typing a standard SMS, no attachements or symbols of any type, my SMS message converts to a MMS style message. For example I typed 105 characters including spaces & comma's, half way thru typing the message it displayed the message was converting to a MMS. How do I stop this from converting to a MMS?
I've found that sometimes after taking a picture, the initial .nrw file doesn't automatically convert into a jpeg. Although the .nrw files can be viewed on the phone, they can't be editied, nor can I find any apps for my computer which will open them. Also, the .nrw files are not recognised by websites I've tried to upload them to (Picasa, Facebook etc).
