All my phone says is to plug it in to iTunes and the only option is to restore it. And I don't want to restore it because i will lose all my pictures. Is there any way I can undo the update?

lost my old iphone 4s and got a warranty replacement iphone 4s. However when I tried to restore a recent backup I made to the cloud it said that I could not do it because the old backup was on an older ios and the new phone was on a new ios. Is there anyway that I can somehow restore this backup? Also I don't have any backups to itunes.

I did a network reset while connected to itunes(not while syncing) and now my phone seems to have bricked. All I get is the apple logo screen for several minutes, it goes out and starts all over. It looks like it wants to reboot but it's getting hung up somewhere. After an hour or so I decided to do a restore. I'm afraid that restoring will automatically install 3.1.3. I want to stay with 3.1.2 so that I can re-jailbreak.

I have an iPhone 4G and I didn't get the iOS 5 update yet, but I decided to update it to iOS 5 today, but I had to update my iTunes, my iPhone and everything in order to download the new software.But when I was done updating, I open my iPhone and saw that it had updated to the different apps and pictures from my old iPhone 3GS.... which means all my old apps/photos/contacts were put in there. After using Backup and Restore before updating the software, I've found that I can't retrieve a lot of my text messages. Everything else has restored fine, and I've tried restoring with just the text messages box checked. This takes hours and hours and usually comes up with an error partway through, or it just doesn't complete. I have a lot of texts that I'd rather not lose.

I didn't bother doing any of the updates since then, since everything was working pretty well. As a precaution I have stored my hashed keys with Cydia.
Now there are starting to be newer apps that require firmware 3.1 so I figured I would update.I've read through a few tutorials and it isn't 100% clear what update path I should go. I have tried Pwnage tool on my Macbook and it doesn't seem to detect my phone to put into DFU mode. I have a few questions hopefully someone here can answer:
1) Should I even be using Pwnage tool? Or should I be using blackra1n? Does it matter?
2) With Pwnage tool, when it asks if my phone has been 'pwned' before, should I answer yes or no? When I answer no, it doesn't detect my phone. When I answer yes, it tells me to put the phone into DFU mode myself and reestore using iTunes. Is this safe to do?
I'd like to update to iOS5.1 but devise says I need 1Gb? What can I dump to be able to upgrade?
