IPhone :: 4S Constant Charging / Sync / Startup Sound But No Display No Boot?
May 30, 2012
I've purchased a iPhone 4S off ebay with the aim of fixing it. It is in great condition inside and out, however won't turn on or boot and there is no display. When plugged into the wall socket it just makes the charging chirp sound over and over again, but that is all. When plugged into a computer it does nothing, no show in iTunes. All the seller was able to say was that he tried to fix the screen and it worked before that, but couldn't get it to work properly after that. Any ideas what could be wrong, what needs to be replaced? If it was just a faulty screen shouldn't the phone still charge and why is it making the constant sound?
Is there a way to do this? I've searched the settings and didn't find anything. I also tried Silent Boot from the Play Store and that didn't work either. What am I missing?
I noticed this evening that my broadband connection was running very slowly, and realised that a wireless device was sending constant WiFi traffic.
I traced this back to my iPhone 4S and through experimentation have diagnosed it as follows: When the iPhone is connected to a mains charger and idle, it generates constant WiFi traffic. If I wake the iPhone it immediately stops sending WiFi traffic - until it goes back to sleep and idles again. Also if I unplug the iPhone from the mains it immediately stops sending WiFi traffic. The iPhone *never* does this when it is disconnected from the mains - only when it is charging. What is going on here? Does the iPhone do something over WiFi when charging and idle? Or is my handset likely to be faulty (I bought it from the Apple store in London about a week ago)?
And only on boot / startup? I want to create a password when I turn on the Droid, but once its on - just requre the normal screen swipe to use the device (I don't want to have to enter a password each and every time I try to use my phone!)
CardioTrainer seems to always boot at startup. I cannot kill the application nor can I remove it. How to remove this app or at least stop it from automatically starting?
I left my phone to charge one night before going to bed (pulled out the charger when it finished). The next morning the phone had shut down by itself and when I tried turning it on I got white lines accross the screen. That happened for a few more times (sometimes blue or green or red lines), and after I removed and put the battery back in the following has been happening since then : Starting the phoneWhite screen with Nokia logo shows upMessage "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer". Phone hangs. If I press the shut down button, lines appear and fade out before phone shuts down.
I tried the hard reset method, but either I am doing it wrong, or it just doesn't apply here. I tried connecting it to my PC, but it is not recognised (probably because a message to select PC Suite doesn't show up). The phone is a few months outside warranty, so it is not financially wise (or viable) to send it for repairs. I am an advanced user and I'm willing to try any flashing utilities guides to restore it to working condition. Could it be the battery needing a switch? I tried removing the memory card & SIM, but the problem persists.
This sounds like the old game of ping(bat and ball ) and seems to come on at random times . the only solution so far is to turn the ringer volume down .
So I first noticed this bug while trying to charge my phone from one of the USB ports on my computer, while the phone is off. It constantly connects and disconnects to the computer (as indicated by the sounds Windows makes) and the battery icon that flashes while the phone is off and charging keeps coming on and off. Not a major bug, but quite annoying if you have the phone connected while it's off.
Most of the time when I startup my Xoom it will not play any sound that I can hear. If I hold the volume up button and the power button to reboot then the sound is fine. Has anyone else heard of this problem and is there a fix or just to continue what i have been doing.
I modded my RAZR V3t last year with a custom startup animation and sound. I lost the backup of the originals and I need them back to Re-T-Mo it to give the phone to someone else.Anyone have the "Stick Together" animation (RAZR-sized) and the newer version of the Moto Startup sound?
I have flashed my Cingular 3125 extensively but it is getting too old and back won't stay on. I have modified all I can on Blackjack II (sgh-i617) w/o flash. It's on Win Mob 6.1, I want to change the start-up pic and sound, I know this is a bit of an older issue but can anyone gimme a link or advice on how to progress? Everythings unlocked Subsidy,CID, etc, experienced and have many tools, just have not been in the loop for awhile.
Okay, first let me start off by giving some descriptions to questions you may have:
*My phone is not rooted. *I have not messed with any modifications. *My phone's automatic update is turned off. (I haven't update since 4.42.) *I've already erased the cache in recovery mode. *I don't have a back-up.
My phone had died because the battery life ran out. I charged it fully and unplugged it. I kept it off for a little while, and when I turned it on it booted normally to the start-up screen, blinked off and restarted back to the screen; it remained stuck there. I can power off and enter recovery mode, but I can't power off. The charge logo appears when I plug it up, but it stays there with an empty power logo even after I unplug it. I have to always take out the battery to turn it off. What did I do wrong, and I can I fix it without having to wipe out documents? (I have a lot of writing documents).
I am looking for a way to disable the startup sound when launching the camera using the dedicated camera button. I have checked the settings and have only found an option to disable the shutter sound while taking a picture but not the startup sound.
I love my Droid M so far, but I really don't like the startup animation. How can I at least disable the sound, and ideally, disable both the animation and the sound?
I'm seen posts that refer to renaming files under "System/Media", but I don't see that path on my phone.
I brought my Vivaz a while ago. The display somehow had a loose connection so it went back to the shop. A while later I got it back, but it started to do this annoying thing, not turning on and it went very slow, but I assume thats because the memory card was almost full. Well, now when I want to turn it on, the white "sony ericsson" screen comes up and a little vibration, and nothing more. When I set it to charge, the red light and the "sony ericsson" screen comes, but after a while I still cant turn it on. When I set it to my computer nothing happens but it "charges" again and the little charge icon never comes up when it charges either. Just the screen I have mentioned and the little red light in the side of the phone.
I've had my phone since January. Its always super slow and the battery is super bad. Also, at times it just turns off and acts up. But my main concern here the constant sync sign that I get next to the 3G logo. What does it mean and how do I get it out? And... is there a reason why my 3G and antenna bar are colored white at times and blue at other times?
I downloaded Gingerbread this morning and all seem to work well except for a constant sync issue I've been unble to get rid. I shut my phone down for nearly and hour, I've also rebooted it after that, but the sync symbol remains on the task bar.
On my Droid 2 Global, there was a key-sequence that let me turn on the phone without removing the charger, waiting a few seconds, then pushing the power button. (although i forget what that combonation was now, since I haven't used it in a while.)Is there a similar key sequence i can press to boot from the charging screen (battery icon in the middle of the screen) with my Droid 4?
Trying to port a custom Xperia Z1 Rom to Nexus 5.This custom Rom has all features from Xperia Z5.
Edit : Advanced, see logcat Edit 2 : fixed mediadrm fatal crash. Now, i need to fix SDCARD Edit 3 : seems i need to fix sound Edit 4 : Booting, as logcat says.
The problem is : Google Logo stays displayed. Bootanimation doesnt displays and so, it seems it prevents phone from displaying Setup Wizard, and Android UI. Maybe the problem is "libsecureui.so" dlopen failed.
I suddenly feel the desperate need to get a ringtone for my iPhone 4. My Mac is down (won't boot...) and I don't want to sync with Windows, so I need to get the ringtone on my device OTA. I want to make a song (Team Fortress 2) into a ringtone. How do I do that directly on my phone?
Several flashing attempts failed. Now i'm stuck in the "bootloader usb init" screen.(but thats another problem i'm trying to get help with in another thread.)I started with a fully charged good battery, but after hours of trying to get this thing back into verizon by flashing it with VRZ_E815_01.1E.0R_PRIii09574_MONSTER_01.shx , i believe i'm outa juice, well the battery is.So I plugged it in the charger, it's still in the bootloader mode and on! Now.It's been about 4 hrs, but the phone still turns off after displaying 'hello moto' for 1 second(when charger is unplugged), which make it impossible to try fixing the flashing problem.
QUESTION: How do i know that/if the battery is charging while in the bootloader state?.. or is this phone turning it self off, not a battery problem at all, but has something to do with the failed flashing... a dead phone?
I'm talking about the mechanical "Droid" sound at bootup. There is no way to disable it, nor is it affected by the volume level. I have EVERY volume turned down and it still sounds. I have even tried the app Silent Boot with no luck.
