I noticed after a recent update (I believe a system update, but I'm not completely sure) that on the HTC Sense Input keyboard in the stock messenger, if you type ": )" (without the space) it automatically changes to an emoji. This goes for other symbol smileys too. Is there any way to turn that off?

Before that I did not perform the upgrade for about a year.Since this last upgrade I have a problem with clock not being updated when the keyboard is locked. This only happens when the keyboard is locked automatically (because of the inactivity). If I lock it manually then the clock is normally updated.This is so frustrating that I will change the phone for sure if it's not solved very quickly with a new software update. The clock is one of the core features of the mobile phone and such a bug can get you in troubles very quickly.

In the BBM settings I have 4 pages of symbols, which include smileys, but in the text message menu I only have 2 pages of symbols, which do NOT include the smiley faces. When I receive a text from people who add smileys, all I get is the symbols such as it works fine in the BBM service, both sending and receiving, but not in text.do I need to download an app or something. Im a bit new with using a BB so any help in plain english would be good! and also while im on it, the places app on facebook does not seem to work for me, the GPS, ect is all switched on!

Graphical Smileys are on cos it says Yes in, Messaging, Message Settings, General Settings, Graphical Smileys.I thought you just had to go to the *+ key and hold that down to get to the punctuations, and then press it again to get to the smileys, like on other nokias, but they are not there? Do I need to press something else, or switch something else on somewhere on the phone?
The smileys worked with this sim until this morning in my old phone, so it cant be a network or sim problem.

But if I use : and ) together in a text message on my new Galaxy S5 and send it, I get something stupid like , a yellow or green face. I succeeded after fiddling with the charging point, there were flashes on the screen, but it resumed charging.I was not able to start up the phone - pressing the power button didn't seem to work. Even taking the battery out and re-trying was like a trial and error method. It works, but I have to try more than once.The phone switches off automatically. If there is movement, e.g. walking with the phone in my pocket, it is definitely going to be switched off.If the phone lies unused for a relatively long period of time, e.g. 30 min, the power saver screen hangs up and I have resort to taking the battery out and follow the entire process.This seems to have started all of a sudden without any prior warning. I shall be grateful to anyone who can help me address this problem.

Much to my amusement i was informed that i should not have updated the software of my phone via the web. Then WHY do you have it there????? Also now the software update section for the x7 handset has been taken off the website. they say that end of december Belle will be available with x7. it seems there are pretty serious problems with Anna. hope Nokia does something big time about this as a new phone just launched a couple of months in the market is playing up seriously with other couple of problems (dust under the screen restarting to name few! what a comeback Nokia with the launch of their so called Gamin Device.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe screen of my Blackberry Torch will not automatically turn off. It stays on all the time unless I press the lock button. I have the backlight brightness on the lowest setting and the 20 second time out.
Not that these matter, but I've also recently done the new Operating System update and have downloaded the applications AT&T 's Mark The Spot and Blackberry Maps. I do know they are why I've been losing battery power.
I lock the phone and then put it in my holster. But it automatically unlocks itself.

But if the phone is blacked out and you are on another call, when a second call beeps in it won't allow the screen to come on to switch calls.
