HTC One M8 :: Google Now Reminders - No Notification Sound
Aug 15, 2014
No matter which type of reminder I set (when or where) or whether I do it by voice or text, they won't notify me. I get a card on Google now showing up but no notification sound or anything in the notification tray. I have notifications turned on in Google Now settings.
I am on Lillipop 5.1. I have chosen a notification sound in Hangouts but no matter which one I change it too, even silent it uses the Europa sound all the time when a message comes in. Is it a bug?
The past week my phone has started not responding and just having a black/blank screen. I can tell it's running, I get notification sounds and stuff, but it just won't respond. I can reset it by holding the power and volume up button, and that seems to fix it for some random amount of time, but eventually the screen will die again.
What is the best and/or easiest way to have songs be used for alarm sounds? Is there any way to do it without adding apps I.e. staying native or not...?
I'm on 5.1. Does everyone's phone have a delay on the ambient display when they get a message or email notification after the sound is played? I have to wait a few seconds for the screen to light up to see what it is.
In my 2330c when I add a reminder there's no alarm. It just blinks. What is the use of reminder without a sound? That's an obvious bug in the software. Please fix the reminders so they produce sound. When you fix this problem please make it possible to change the alarm sound, so we aren't stuck with always the same irritating reminder sound (like in some previous Nokia models).
Whenever I try to add reminders via Google Now, I keep getting the message "can't reach Google at the moment". This happens on WiFi and mobile data and have rebooted the phone to check if that may solve it (never know...).
I can add reminders via Google Keep however being able to add reminders directly from the home screen simply by talking is so much easier than adding them via Keep.I've tried looking through the Google product forums however the content never seems to load on the page.
The "tomorrow summary" of the Notification Center showes calendar events but not reminders. It will just say "You have no events scheduled for tomorrow", even when I do have reminders scheduled for tomorrow. Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal? If so, it's really dumb to show one but not the other...Â
Just to be clear, both reminders and calendar events show up fine in the "today summary". It's the "tomorrow summary" that has the problem.
I really need my Google Now functions and reminders as they save me a lot of problems in my life. Constantly I have the problem that Device cannot reach Google and reminders cannot be saved! It doesn't matter if I am on Wifi or data.
I don't know if this is a problem with the Calendar app, Hangouts, my Nexus 5, AT&T, or Google Calendar on the web. I'm using my Nexus 5 and the built-in Calendar app to sync my phone calendar to the online (web) Google calendar (www.google.com/calendar). For almost all of my events, I've got a Reminder set on the web version to send an SMS to my phone via my standard AT&T, Hangouts-verified phone number. Up until a few days ago, I've gotten these SMS reminders without issue. Suddenly, I'm not getting all of them (I get some, but not all). There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes they'll arrive, sometimes they won't. Looking at the events in the Calendar show the Reminders are still set up. Rebooting the phone doesn't seem to work?
Also, as I was checking the settings on the phone to see if any of those could be causing the problem, I noticed a setting in the Calendar app for "Pop-up notifications" (Calendar app | 3-dot menu | Settings | "General settings" | Notifications | "Pop-up notification"). I turned it on, but it doesn't seem to do anything (I get no pop-up notifications when one of my Calendar events fire).
I am on a Galaxy S5, in the UK on EE. Running Lollipop 5.0 but with a new update that has fixed the no silent mode issue. I have just tried to set a reminder using Google Now with my voice, which has always worked before, except now the reminder sets my clock alarm instead of storing it in Google Now in the usual way! I've checked that the Clock app hasn't been set as default etc.... but to no avail.
I installed the latest build of the android lollipop developer preview on my nexus 5. All works fine (exept for wel know problems with original mail app and mx player). My problem is that I can't create ANY reminders. If say "remind me in 10 min" i get the popup, but i'm not able to activate it ("V" stays grayed out)...
Even if I go manually via the hamburger menu in google now, "reminders" is grayed out and I can't click it . All works fine for the rest (except for every reboot i need to set the primary default language to English - US every time for google now to work at all)....
How do I customize the call notification to vibrate and the text message notification to sound at the same time for vibration mode? The vibration mode works fine for me (both call and message notifications vibrate only), but sound notification for text messages when I am in the middle of something. I am a new Android user and it seems that both settings cannot be done separately for the vibration mode.
Sometimes randomly after unlocking my phone or turning it on, (specifically a couple seconds maybe 4, of looking at the Home screen) I hear a noise. I'm not sure if it vibrates or not I'll check next time. But it seems to be some sort of notification that happened. Now I have no apps running but I get this beep sound. I checked text messages, emails, push notifications, battery, coverage yet its not one of those. Maybe its WiFi. But for some reason I get this random beep of the phone trying to notify me of something but it never shows up on the screen. Sometimes after locking my phone (screen being black) it does the noise.
When I make calls and recieve calls, no sound comes from the earpiece at the top, the volume level is maxed out and nothing. Then when I go and press the speaker it works. The phone is only 1 week old... the only thing installed is battery doctor
I have an mp3 file that I want to use for my notifications and I downloaded ES file manager and browsed to sdcard / Notifications and copied the file there but when I go into settings, it's not listed. I also don't have a + button at the top like it's shown for ringtones. How to do this?
I have the Bold 9900 and suddenly this weekend I stopped getting any kind of notification at all when I get a new text message, nothing on the screen, no sound, nothing at all.The OS is up to date version 7?
I recently brought out a contract with o2 for a htc one, got home set up all my notification sounds, I was getting sound for my facebook posts, but the next day I turned my phone on and they were coming through but no sound, if I get a notification on there my phone just vibrates but for other stuff i get the sound, if I get a message on fb I get a sound too, not sure why it has done this and I am not sure how to change it ....
When on call i do not get any sound alerting me a text came or alarm is off or so on.. I see it in on top when i look at the phone but if i see it only at the end of the call when i look at the phone.
Is there a way to have it make a sound during the call (like a beep noise or something like that) so i can know when something is up while i'm on a call?
When the telephone is in use, there is no sound or vibrating notification for sms, mail and so on. Is this a bug, failure or just bad work from HTC. My Sensation is full of bugs that HTC can/will not fix.
I've set my ringtone but can't seem to be able to set an MP3 as my notification sound when I recieve an sms. I can find the list of built in sounds but how do I set up my own sounds?
I am not getting sound notification for SMS on hangout or any other app I have tried. This just started recently. I have checked settings and can't find why.
The Boomsound icon will periodically pop up in the notification bar along with a sound. Did a search but came up with nothing. Last night it was doing it when i was simply surfing the web. What causes this and how to stop it? It will do it when I am not even touching it and mostly does it when i pick it up or move it.
