The messages app is freezing for one contact, which is the contact I have a lot of messages from. Ive downloaded a third party message app and that works fine so the fault is definitely with the htc software. I would like to continue using this regular htc software for messaging and no, I do not want to delete any of my messages either.
View 2 RepliesI got the Edge a month ago. I transferred across from an iPhone - using the Smart Switch app to transfer all of my data across as well.
Since the transfer, the messaging app freezes, becomes unresponsive or is incredibly slow (especially in text threads with a lot of messages in this). This means that the keyboard freezes, words/letters won't appear for a while after they have been typed, sometimes the keyboard doesn't appear at all, and the messages thread takes a long time to update.
What can I do about this? How can I stop my messages app freezing so often? I really enjoy the edge, but the fact that I can't message properly (or that it freezes/is so slow) is ruining the phone for me.
Starting yesterday night, every time I would try to open the activity log for my boyfriend, the phone will freeze. I took the battery out and turned the device off. Once back on, I noticed that some of my text messages were missing between us. Its only him, no other contact in my phone. Does anyone know why. When I do a search for it, I see all the text messages even the ones missing but every time I try to pull it up in messages, it doesn't show up and freezes. I've only had the device for a couple of days.

For the past couple of months, my Blackberry has been freezing when downloading new e-mails. If I'm on the home screen, I can try to open my text messages or e-mail messages program, but nothing happens. My other programs work in the meantime, but I'm frozen out of messages, even when I can see the notification that I have new ones.

We've recently switched over from Sprint to AT&T (very relieved!) and ported our numbers. We upgraded from HTC Evo 4g LTE's to Galaxy s6's. I have one contact who is also on the AT&T network and for some reason cannot receive any texts from her, either SMS or MMS. She has an iPhone (not sure if 5 or 6). She can receive my text and reply, and it appears to her that they are sent but I never receive them. Here is what we have tried so far:
1. Contacted AT&T tech support. He rebroadcasted my number just in case.
2. AT&T tech checked that all three numbers were ported correctly
3. AT&T tech had me call my friend from my wife's phone and we all three had a convo via speaker phone and tested between my wife's phone and my friends phone, both SMS and MMS with pictures worked fine.
4. Checked that I didn't have her contact blocked in any way.
5. Tried having her turn off iMessage and text, nothing. Tried having her send as SMS, nothing.
6. We deleted each others contact and re-added, nothing.
7. I called AT&T porting (they have their own number) he checked and everything was ported correctly and finalized.
8. probably tried a couple of other things but to no avail
Other than this issue, the phones are fantastic, the network is fantastic.
Iphone says my SMS texts were sent, but the contact isn't getting them, but I can get theirs. They receive messages with pictures added to them, and the text in them, but not text-only messages. Text-only messages are received by other contacts. They were able to receive my text-only messages just fine earlier today.

Hiya, for as long as I can remember my girlfriends name has not shown up in my messages/recent calls etc - only her number. I've tried deleting the conversation and her contact and re-adding again - didn't work.
Tried disabling iCloud Contacts sync while doing it, no luck. Also tried resetting my network settings and still no luck

So for the past while the stock messaging app has been slow, particularly with one contact. I have near 8000 texts with this person in the thread and that is most obviosly the issue. The thing is, it now won't let me delete the thread.
I've tried deleting from messages screen (clicking the contact), from within the thread (select all>delete) and by using message deletion apps. It always results in either the phone completely freezing or the app becoming impossible to use, forcing me to restart the phone. I've also cleared the app data+cache and disabled/enabled the app.
The only thing now as far as I know is to manually delete the messages in small amounts (anything 100 or more tends to freeze the phone). This is clearly time consuming and annoying. Is there anything else I can try?
I have a contact on BBM which I have been able to talk to fine for the past few months but recently he has become unable to send messages to me but he can receive my bbm messages. We have tried removing each other as a contact, reading and if I read him it just says 'pending' also we have updated so we have the same version but still nothing!

Every now and then, I will send a text message to a friend, and somehow, the message and the following conversation, seems to be copied to my wifes phone. An interesting scenario!! Also makes me wander who else might be aware of my sms conversations!I cant put my finger on when the issue first started, it does seem to have started fairly recenlty though. At first i thought i must have done something wrong...but now i am sure there is some sort of anomaly here. I have done an iphone reset (ie..hold power and home buttons down for 10 seconds). That did not seem to resolve. My friends is using an iphone 3GS (not sure of iOS version) and my wife and i are both on iphone 4 with 5.1.1. My wife's and my phone are managed by the same itunes account / pc (not sure if there is some sort of confusion between phs somehow?)

It has only shown the phone number if the person texting me is not in my contact list.A few days ago, it started showing me only the number that sent the text message. I have no idea why it started this, maybe some wrong buttons got pushed while I was carrying it around in my pocket? My BB shows every text thats been sent. Im wanting to compress all these texts into individual lines per contact. I recently switched out my Curve 9350 under warranty, since the old one was overheating and draining the battery. The first one I had didn't have this issue, from the get-go it showed contact names, pictures, and broke the messages down into days, but I could scroll and view all of them. My new one has only shown my text messages in the way I described above.
