HTC Desire Z :: How To Change Keyboard Light Setting
Dec 22, 2010
I've noticed a feature on my HTC Desire Z whereby the keyboard keys will light up if the phone deems itself to be in poor lighting conditions. Personally I'd prefer the keyboard to light up anyway, whenever I open it since it's much easier to read when it's lit up. Is there anywhere where I can change this setting so that the keys light up as soon as I slide out the keyboard, regardless of the ambient lighting conditions?
1 week ago i walked in the water with my mobile.. Nothing worked anymore. I took my mobile to a telefone store and they have repaired my mobile. Only i've got a steady blue led light and no keyboard light only when i start my blackberry on, the keyboard gives light. If i get other notifications the blue led light still gives light and the red light is blinking that i have something.
I have just changed from a BlackBerry to the htc Desire S & am having all sorts of problems trying to persuade it to deal with my pop3 emails. I've religiously followed the instructions & the Incoming settings are accepted but when I put in the Outgoing details it always comes up with "Your outgoing server does not support authentication. Please verify your outgoing server settings". I am not a computer/phone expert but managed to set up my BlackBerry without any problem. In this case, after several failures I copied the settings as in my Outlook Internet email settings. No luck.I contacted the technical dept of Zen (the ISP) they were very knowledgeable & helpful but, after 90 minutes effort finally gave up.
All instructions on the htc site just repeat the user manual instructions which, in this case, does not work. I've emailed htc but have received no reply. I contacted the service provider - Vodafone. They advised that it is difficult to operate pop3 emails with the standard mobile phone Server port at 25 & suggested that I if I wish to use my business email address (rather that getting a new gmail one) then I would be best advised to return the phone & get a new BlackBerry. I find it hard to believe that it is not possible to receive & send normal emails on a modern smartphone & am hoping that someone may be able to guide my through an installation/troubleshooting process that will work.
it makes it impossible to use the slide out keyboard in low light as i can't see the keys. i'm not good enough to know where they all are . i phoned htc uk ( milton keynes ) and they gave me a ticket # so i sent it back. got it back 2 weeks later . they told me they replaced the mother board and it was fixed. imagine my surprize when on first use the backlight kept going out. -problem not fixed. so back on the phone. they said to send it back, so another ticket # and another 2 week wait. guess what?- they replaced the mother board and guess what / it still didn't work. so back on the phone , they said to send it in and gave me a ticket # this time i insisted they replace the phone as it was the 3rd time for the same problem. i waited for a reply and after 2 days they said they will replace it in 5 days of receipt of my phone. so i sent it back. 7 days later they tell me they received it and i was to wait 5 working days for new one to arrive. guess what ?- 6 working days and nothing. i was on the phone today to them and they said that it will bee 10 working days as they needed parts for it. well i said i'm supposed to be getting a new 1 and they said they are putting it together.. what a load of bull$#!?. so i wrote them a letter.
I want to change the keyboard on my wife's HTC Desire and have followed the instructions here: How to install a new keyboard on the HTC Desire - Know Your Cell. The trouble is when I go to Settings/Language and Keyboard, it doesn't have the Input Method option.
I usually notice when browsing the web as I use the back button to navigate back but can happen in any app. It will be working fine one second and then I try to go back after browsing a page it doesn't do anything. A quick flip of the keyboard in and back out and its fine again.
I have a HTC desire HD two months before it fell down and the LCD got broken and i am not able to fix it till today when i contacted the HTC showroom they tell me there is no stock and they have placed an order its almost 2 months now
The default "Drag down to take call" and "Drag up to reject call" is not working for me at all. The phone is usually in my pocket in a vertical position and usually with the screen pointing towards my leg.
When ever I try to answer a call or pick up the phone while it is in my pocket i do one or the other swipe while pulling it out of the pocket: Phone in up-right position -> direction to drag the phone to get it out of the pocket is parallel to the direct in which to drag to take a call (or dismiss it if the phone is upside down).
Can I change it? Dragging sideways to pick up seems WAY more natural. I haven't managed to find any settings, so maybe a 3rd party app?
I can't seem to Change the Default Notification Sound..
I'm using Stock Firmware out of the Box. Phone Details: Android Version: 2.3.3 HTC Sense 2.1 Baseband 20.281.30 Kernel Version 2.6.35.10-g2ee27f5 Build Number 1.48.707.1 Software Number 1.48.707.1
How do I change the SD card (to a new larger version) and retain system data that my phone has put on it? I haven't had it long, so there shudn't be much, but there seems to be many system files & folders present!
I don't have option for english (us) or English (UK) , only Hungarian English, Polish English etc.Amazon MP3 application works only with English US or UK
I copied all my contacts from SIM card to my brand new HTC Desire HD phone.By default HTC recognizes, 1st name, middle name & last names of a contact seperated by SPACE. Now i am not able to edit the middle name. HTC is showing edit options, only for 1st name and last name.
My light timeout setting keeps on automatically resets itself to 5 seconds anyone has this problem? How do I fix it? It's quite annoying having to set it back to 60 seconds every few days.
I have a Nokia E5 White.when I try to use the keyboard, the light goes ON even when I have a good light in the room or outside. And that makes it defficult to see the letters on the keybord ( white keyboard + white letters)
I have had my Bold for almost 2 weeks but just noticed within the last day and half that something may be wrong with my keyboard backlight. I reviewed about 6 pages in this forum but didn't see this topic anywhere.
Does everyones keyboard light up with a touch of ANY key? Because mine isn't lighting up and might need to swap it out.
I would assume that hitting any key would make the lights come on but just wanted to get confirmation from someone.
Recently noticed that my keyboard backlight is out. I am driving myself crazy wondering if I ever had keyboard backlighting. Verizon Wireless support had no answers, but suggested that we hardset the Bold again. If that doesn't work, then they will replace with a "like new" phone. Is there keyboard backlighting on this model? If so, any suggestions to fix? Lastly, anyone had any luck with challenging the "like new" exchange policy for a phone just 4 months old.?
I'm using BB Curve 8320.My keyboard keys and trackball do not light up. Not at night, not ever. When I go to screen/keyboard options the only type of light I can edit or adjust is the screen backlight.I've read about how to cover the sensor near the led but I don't even see the sensor. And what would that matter since its already dark and its not working? To note, I just got this BB from my mom a few days ago and the keyboard light hasn't worked since I've had it and I haven't asked her about it. Although, there was one time randomly during the day the keys lit up and the trackball, so I know the light works...
I've seen a couple comments here and there re: the Phonton keyboard being "difficult", and I think those comments are completely warranted when you consider the settings Motorola / Sprint use as the phone ships. They ship it with Auto correct OFF! I came to this phone after 4+ years of blackberrying. I knew the soft keyboard was going to be an adjustment, but with the Photon it was REALLY bad out of the gate. I'd type something, see that I miss-typed it, then I'd have to select the correct word out of the list above the keyboard (assuming it had some idea of what I was after). Very tedious... So I went poking around in the settings and saw they had a auto-correct setting and it was turned OFF!
The backlighting of my keyboard has completely stopped, along with the notification light. Noticed it a few days ago.I've checked the notification settings and nothing has been changed, but the light no longer works/indicates for any functions. The loss of backlighting for the keyboard is the issue that I find the most concerning. Other than these two issues, I really couldn't be more pleased with my N900 and the Maemo experience.
My blackberry Bold 9700 keyboard light doesn't work again,if i reboot it will be on,but once it has booted,it goes off again automatically,nd i can't use my phone at night or in a dark place.

Its frustrating typing this out at night and same with texts.
I was jut wondering...is there any way to keep it so the keyboard light STAYS on?? What's up with the light...i don't get it :/ i just got this, so if there is a way if you could tell me how!
i have a new torch 9800 and the keyboard does not light up, even in dark areas. i have tried the battery on and off but nothing. is there a setting for this.
When i talk on the phone the keyboard light fades away; however, the call, blackberry, back, and end buttons all stay on THE WHOLE TIME i talk. I have talked for 30 minutes and it stays on. I have all the settings to as low as they go and i have it to where the lights fade. I just cant seem to figure out if this happens on everybody's phone or its just mine and i need to get it replaced. I have had no other complaints on this phone and the battery lasts a pretty long period of time for me but i know that if this issue gets fixed it would last even longer.
