I am new to this and not overly tech savy so pls excuse me in advance! I completed an upgrade on my Desire this morning when prompted to do so on the handset. Since then I have noticed my WIFI is not working. If I turn it on, it goes to "scanning" but has been doing this for nealry 2 hours. I have turned off and back on, also taken battery out for a few minutes and nothing.

Then the WIFI just stopped working ( said I was connected but yet no pages would load which was very frustrating..)..Took phone back to shop and got a new one now , with 2.2 on it which works fine.. I know I am likely to get the warning for the udgrade tonight but I will probably not install it
View 4 Replies View RelatedOk so after having to replace the earpiece under warranty I thought would risk another outage to my Defy. It was bought sim-free and I use my work SIM in it from Vodafone. So ran through the upgrade, and it worked first time ... until wifi. Wifi does not connect or rather from what I can determine I cannot actually obtain an IP address. For it to actually connect to the hub I have to force the settings to toggle the "Enable Auto IP" setting and manually set the channel to the same as my hub. (not had to do that with any other phone ... ) by the way, this still does not give me a data connectionAlso tried setting a static IP address and related settings and that does not work either Did a factory reset as recommended on the other pages - no avail.My hub runs WPA/WPA2 and I have a variety of devices connecting to it, trouble free, including 2 other Android 2.2 phones (HTC Desire Z and LG Optimus One), Windows XP, Windows 7, PS3 etc etc ... oh and once I had a Defy running 2.1 Eclair connecting trouble free?

However, I can not find a similar option on the DHD.
According to my usage analysis from my service provider, Meteor Ireland, I have been using mobile internet even when I have been using WiFi.
Had my Desire for a while now, but just recently I have been working away from home and my laptop doesn't have wifi (I know, I should get a new laptop... but it works fine). I was wondering if I can use my desire a a usb wifi dongle?
My service provider does not like tethering, so I was wondering if when I share the desire's data connection it will use the phone's wifi rather than 3g connection? (obviously in an area where I have access to a wifi access point).

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone works fine with my home WiFi, but as soon as I am out of range, the phone automatically connects with the BTFON/BTOpenzone network (which shows up as an 'Open network', although you have to subscribe to actually connect to it).This doesn't really bother me much, except that when I get back into range of my home network, the phone remains 'connected' to the BT open networks and I have to reconnect manually to my home network. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the phone always to ignore BT? Or at least to make my home network the preferred one when I'm in range?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently migrated to the Desire HD from Nokia E71. And while Im in awe of every new feature I discover with each passing second, theres a problem with the wifi system thats driving me nuts.
My DHD recognises and connects to my home wifi (Linksys E1000) but is unable to browse or run any app that requires internet access (Facebook, Twitter, Maps etc). At the same time, upon disabling wifi, it manages to do everything (browse, FB, twitter etc) on the GPRS connection of my teleco. Hence the problem (I think) is with the router and not the DHD.
I have spent a whole day looking for possible solutions on the web - upgraded to Linksys E1000 from my earlier WRT54G, Changed the channel from 13 to 6 (and experimented with others as well), Reserved the DHD in the DHCP of the router, Changed the security to WPA2 PSK - In short, almost everything I read would fix the problem, but to no avail.
Is it possible to use the htc desire hd as a wireless dongle to access wifi.
my laptop currently has no wifi and was wonderding if plugging my phone in allows me to use the phone to access wifi (i know it allows to access my data on the phone but dont want to do this).
Ive had my Desire HD for around 5 months now and from day 1 I've noticed that the wifi reception of the handset is terrible, I literally have to be within 5 metres of my router in order to get a signal, if I move to another room the signal drops to 1 bar pretty much straight away and then once I begin browsing drops completely and reverts to 3g. As I say this has been pretty much from day 1 and since then the handset has been treated with great care so are these phones that bad for signal?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo my battery was totally down, i was at a friends place and forgot the charger. When i came back home and started it up, suddenly the wifi didn't connect. I went to wifi settings and it just said error. After that i found out that bluetooth, the radio, the g-sensor and even the light behind the buttons under the screen all didn't work (the buttons themselves do still work). Assuming this is a software failure and not a hardware one (cuz these are all really different components) i thought a factory reset would bring them back to life, but even that didn't work. So now i'm stuck with an empty phone ( i can't download all my apps back cuz i have a data limit) which is half broken. I sent a mail to htc already, but i hope i could get an answer from someone here faster.

The iPhone 4s upgrade via iTunes was fine. There seems to be a problem with downloading the software upgrade via wifi.

If I tried to access my messages from the app icon a similar message would pop up (I told HTC every time) I started using the messages widget which worked and finally the problem stopped altogether.

I just purchased this phone the other day & have been using it for a few days now. It seems that some of the features of the phone are not working correctly for me. have added some contacts (as google contacts) using the 'people' app & linked these contacts to their facebook profiles.Now when i browse my all contacts only a small selection of them show their most recent status update underneath their name. I can view the status updates from the other contacts if i select the person and select 'Updates & Events'. However if i try & do this to the contacts who do show their status updates in the main contact list, it says there are no updates for them.

I have spoken to 'T-Mobile' my service provider & all somebody from 'India', told me it could be a 'corrupted SD Card', which I find highly unlikely. With the stock ROM the 3G worked perfectly, everything was great.Now, I've flashed the phone with the proper radio for Froyo, got the proper SLCD Clockworkmod Recovery working, and flashed Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 RC2.Everything works great, but for some reason 3G isn't working at all. I've got the APN setup correctly for Rogers (internet.com, wapuser1, wap, blah blah blah), but still no dice. Data is turned on in the settings, but for some reason it isn't working. There's never any icon to represent it up top either.
View 2 Replies View Relatedit makes it impossible to use the slide out keyboard in low light as i can't see the keys. i'm not good enough to know where they all are . i phoned htc uk ( milton keynes ) and they gave me a ticket # so i sent it back. got it back 2 weeks later . they told me they replaced the mother board and it was fixed. imagine my surprize when on first use the backlight kept going out. -problem not fixed. so back on the phone. they said to send it back, so another ticket # and another 2 week wait. guess what?- they replaced the mother board and guess what / it still didn't work. so back on the phone , they said to send it in and gave me a ticket # this time i insisted they replace the phone as it was the 3rd time for the same problem. i waited for a reply and after 2 days they said they will replace it in 5 days of receipt of my phone. so i sent it back. 7 days later they tell me they received it and i was to wait 5 working days for new one to arrive. guess what ?- 6 working days and nothing. i was on the phone today to them and they said that it will bee 10 working days as they needed parts for it. well i said i'm supposed to be getting a new 1 and they said they are putting it together.. what a load of bull$#!?. so i wrote them a letter.

A couple of days ago the control buttons on the headset stopped working, I can no longer remotely answer calls, or pause and change music tracks. The headset earphones and microphone still work, I can listen to music and use it for phone calls that have been activated from the phone itself.The headset itself has not received any damage, it hasn't been dropped in water or the like.efore I go out and buy a new headset I thought I'd better try and confirm if they were indeed at fault. Is there, for instance, a phone setting to disable the headset controls.

I can't see them in Gallery any more. Luckily due to the backup software Astro, i have got my Pictures back but I can't locate my videos anywhere. To remind you, I just transferred them, not deleted them from mobile.
