My nexus 5 got stuck in airplane mode so I could neither send texts or make and recieve phone calls. Have already sent it to be fixed with sucess however a week later it stopped working again. Tried a hard reset but it has not worked.
View 1 RepliesI'm noticing some battery drain during the night on my nexus 5 even when my phone is in airplane mode.. I charged it to 100 then took it off the charger and turned airplane mode on. When I woke up it was at 95 percent.. I know it's not a huge chunk of battery but isn't that still bad for it being in airplane which is supposed to turn off all the radios? I could of swore when I did this last week it only dropped one percent, why the sudden jump? And Google play services was the top thing draining battery according to my phone stat settings..
View 3 Replies View RelatedI loaded 5.1 from the images on googles site. All works great except when I boot the phone and am in airplane mode, I get a no Sim card error. As soon as I turn off airplane mode, it goes away. How to clear this? Note I did not factory reset when I loaded. I did not want to loose all of my data.

Whenever i select the Airplane Mode to OFF, it does state it is OFF, however, the actual phone still remains in this mode, therefore, i cannot make calls/send messages/emails etc.

1. Restart -> Booted back to Erase mode
2. Bootloader -> Recovery mode -> Booted back to Erase mode
3. Bootloader -> Start -> Booted back to Erase mode
4. USB connection -> no device recognized
5. ???
6. Profit!
My M8 isn't receiving signal, everything else works fine, I checked the sim card in another phone and it works.
I did notice that airplane mode is stuck tuning off.
I rooted the phone (very new to rooting) but didn't go so far as to flash a mod. I unrooted the phone back to stock. It was fine for a couple of weeks, then one day randomly lost signal.
I've tried factory resetting but no luck.
I went into Airplane Mode today using the widget. It turned off my Wifi (but not GPS?) and went into Airplane Mode just fine. Then when using the widget to turn Airplane Mode off I see my Wifi turn back on, but the Airplane Mode isn't removed. The only way I can find to actually take the phone out of Airplane mode is to hold the power button and toggle it from the silent/airplane/power popup.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI cracked my screen on my original 1520. AT&T sent a replacement device (via Insurance). As soon as I got the phone, I installed Preview for Developers and checked for phone update. After updating and restarting, the phone is stuck on airplane mode. When you go into settings and try to tap the button to switch to off it doesn't do anything, however, when I swipe it to the left the toggle moves but once you let go it goes right back to the right. You can toggle the airplain mode on/off in the notifications bar but the phone still shows it is on airplane mode with no data or phone service.
I have already turned phone off and on and have also hard resetted the phone to no avail. What is odd is before the update, phone was working fine with phone service and everything, now it's just stuck on airplane mode with no service, but everything else works fine.
Like others, I tried the software update, and then my phone constantly got stuck at the four little circles at start up. I followed some instructions I found on AndroidPit:
1. From a powered off state, press the Power button to start your Nexus 5. When you see the Google logo press and hold the Volume Down key and release when the device vibrates.
2. Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery Menu and press the Power button to select. This will bring you to a screen with an Android on its back.
3. Hold the Volume Up key for 5 secs then release and a new menu will appear.
4. First off, you can use the volume keys to select Wipe Cache Partition. This will cause your phone to restart. once this is done, re-do the previous steps to get back to the same screen (the one that Wipe Cache Partition was on).
5. Highlight Wipe Data/Factory Reset and select using the Power key. Scroll down to Yes, Delete All Data and press the Power button again to select.
6. Your Nexus 5 will now wipe your data and reformat.
7. On the next screen hit the Power button to select Reboot System Now.
It has been 40 minutes now and it's stuck on 'Formatting /data'. Is this normal?
I've only had this phone for a couple of months and it was functioning perfectly until now I haven't rooted it or anything.
So this morning I woke up to my phone on a boot loop on the Google Logo. I have no custom roms or mods on it other than I am running ART. I suspect it could be battery related as it will only seem to do this on the charger but when I don't have it plugged in it won't even start up. When it's plugged in it won't even seem to want to stay "off", it boots up to the google logo on its own. If I hold down the volume rocker I can get into the bootloader but it resets before I can select anything and boots right back into the google logo.

So I flashed newest twrp and flashed 6.0.1 bootloader and radio.img via fastboot using wugfresh tool and the files from the thread on here. now when trying to get into recovery, I am stuck at the google logo.
View 5 Replies View Relatedtoday I installed the new android 6.0 factory image, rooted it (used the modified boot.img from the previous build) and installed supersu 2.52 and blu spark kernel. Everything good until i deleted some apps (gmail, webview, youtube and other NON CRITICAL apps, like I ALWAY DO SINCE KITKAT), then rebooted and my phone is stuck at the Google logo, not even the bootanimation shows up.. Tried to reflash the boot.img, wipe cache, wipe data, factory reset but nothing.. The only thing that worked is to reflash the factory image! What am I doing wrong? Happened 2 times in a row so something must be wrong.. Another thing, I can't access TWRP every time, sometimes it skips and boots directly..

Today I got a "broken" nexus 5 that is in boot loop with the google logo and it wont boot into any .img
At the start i read the pinned posts and found this tutorial: [URL] ...
followed it step by step. but unfortunately it didnt work in my situation. there werent any errors or such kind. I also tried this tutorial with other images but nothing worked.
When i go to the recovery mode and press the power button the phone get into the google logo and i can see some sort of strange stripes in like a milisecond but then it just gets into the boot loop.
i really think ive tried everything accept for relocking the bootloader but cant imaging that this could be the problem.
I was sitting down with my nexus on my leg with about 40% battery left when it suddenly turned off and then flicked to the google startup page before going blank. After attempting to turn it on again (to no avail), I resorted to plugging it in, which resulted in the phone looping on the google page then vibrating before repeating. I tried to get it into the bootloader menu, but it appeared and then reverted to the google page after the phone vibrated.
I've tried looking up solutions, but the only plausible situation for me seems to be returning it so the warranty can take over. The only hitch with that being that the bootloader is unlocked (not rooted, just the bootloader). I really am stuck, and do not know what to do
Just updated two days ago and my Airplane Mode icon will take me to the settings screen where I have to tap on Airplane Mode again which turns it into a two step process and makes the icon pointless. The other thing is that the screen is not dimming like it did in Power Saver mode. I keep my screen about 1/3 because indoors it's all I need and it would drop it about 10% before I updated to 4.3. Now it keeps it at the 1/3 default no matter what. I can't really say whether it's having a dramatic effect on battery life, but it would be nice to get that extra 5% in times of need.

Cant connect to my Lap (running Windows 10) because it says in the device manager: Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed), so I cant manually update the driver and cant access it with ADB and Fastboot tool. The device has no USB debugging enabled. In the old computer where I used to connect the device and has the drivers installed says the same thing in device manager as my new laptop.
View 10 Replies View RelatedFor about two months now I've had an app stuck in recents, and no matter what I do it won't go away. It's basically a website I opened from a google search. I've deleted and reinstalled Google Now, the phone has been upgraded from 5.1 to 5.1.1 in between, restarting, nothing seems to do the trick. I've been googling the problem without success so far.

I have a nexus 5 that I was preparing to hand down to my wife. I had transfered everything over to my new phone, and initiated a factory reset. It rebooted to the "erasing" screen, and sat there for about 20 minutes, before switching to the dead android screen (w/ red triangle.) I thought that was odd, did some searching, and tried the recovery mode from the bootloader. That produced the same results. So now I'm stuck.
From the boot loader I can access the following options:
Start -> Erases for ~20 minutes, then dead android
Restart Bootloader -> Screen goes blank, phone vibrates, and then back to the bootloader screen
Recovery Mode -> Erases for ~20 minutes, then dead android
Power off -> turns off the phone
I called Google, and the tech support hadn't heard of anything like this. Because it's almost two years old, he transferred me to LG's tech support, who basically said find a local repair shop, or they could RMA it for an unknown cost.I'm pretty sure the phone is bricked at this point, which is frustrating, because it was running stock android - completely unmodified. I think I might have rooted it once, months ago, but I can't imagine that that would have caused this issue. I had even received and installed Marshmallow OTA, and it was running perfectly.
Anyway, some program I might be able to use on the PC to regain access to my device.

I'm having a very frustrated issue with my Nexus 5 d820. The battery indicator suddenly stuck -for days- on random numbers like 93%, 88% but most of the time it's stuck on 100%. It does recognizes that I'm charging, but the values aren't changing.
Things I've tried:
Installing a third party battery monitors like Gsam A complete drain, complete charge.
Replacing the Battery to a new one
Wipe to Factory / Wipe Cache
Install a brand new rom using fastboot
Install TWRP, Root
So I wanted to get some free hearthstone card back and free packs, which were only given out to people with Samsung Galaxy S6. Apparently there was a way to get this on any device by editing "ro.product.brand" and "ro.product.model" in build.prop.
I did this, restarted my device and got my stuffs pretty easily. After this, I replaced the build.prop with my backup copy and restarted my phone. But, this time the phone is not booting. After google logo, it's stuck with black screen.
So far I have tried clearing cache but didn't work. Also, I tried to use adb to pull the build.prop but unfortunately I get "error:Closed" even though "adb devices" does show up my phone.
I have been waiting for the Play Store update to come through but have yet to have it happen. I have tried the tricks that I know of, other than side loading it.

my Nexus 5 all of a sudden. My phone wouldn't boot up and is stuck at the google logo and would not go further no matter how long i wait. I tried going to the recovery mood which i did but when i selected recovery mode using the vol up and down keys to navigate and hit on power button nothing happened,just a blank screen. I can soft reset or hard reset my phone. All i see is a blank screen if i try doing a soft or a hard reset and if i try to power on normally all i see is the Google logo.

I cant figure out if this is a software issue or a hardware issue. I read a few posts about people talking about the power button. The power button seems to be all fine.
My Nexus 5 which I have been using for 5 months without any issues has suddenly got stuck on the startup screen. This whole day it has just been showing the google screen and nothing I do would change it. I tried rebooting but that didn't work either.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI now have my nexus 5 over 8 Months and everything worked perfectly but since yesterday it stuck at the google logo. I don't mean the Boot animation, I mean the first logo which shows up after booting. After 3 seconds it shuts down and i get the same. Before this happened I just recently flashed PA Rom (4.5,3) and then afterwards the newest franco kernel by the Updater App.
First everything has worked very well, but then some strange things happened to my nexus. So it just has switched the Date and Time to 1970, Google now said it isn't supported in my country (even it is), whats app needed reauthentification and also didn't automatically recognized my county, my battery has dropped while charging from 12% to 39% within a minute and then the random reboots appeared. after the 4th one I suddenly landed at the point where I am now. I also tried lots of things like going into bootloader/ recovery and flashing an old factory Image but every time I try to it kicks me to the Google logo.
So 2 days ago I received the OTA update for 6.0. Yesterday when my battery was low the device turned off unexpectedly. When I finally had a chance to plug it in the phone went into a BOOT LOOP. After not being able to get into recovery mode because of continued resetting. I looked up several videos and posts from Nexus users with the same issue. I found the solution to be tapping the power button repeatedly till device is fixed. It sounded absurd but it worked and the phone stopped resetting and started to charge as normal. I let the phone charge for about an hour and then proceeded to turn it on.
At that point it was then stuck at the Google logo. So after about 15 minutes of waiting I decided to do a hard reset. When doing so I an encountered an error which I am unfamiliar with. I have a picture of what it tell me but can't seem post it on the forum. IT SAYS:

So recently for some reason my Nexus 5 gets stuck on the booting animation. I think it was updating to 6.0.1 or something but I'm not sure, because I just woke up one day and the phone wouldn't boot, and when it finally did it just gets stuck on the boot animation. I've tried to flash stock images and etc but I need an unlocked boot loader and for some reason if the phone doesn't boot completely after unlocking the bootloader, then it gets re-locked. So now my last option is to use the stock recovery to wipe data or something but when I go to the screen with the dead android guy, no combination of buttons seem to make the recovery options show up.
View 4 Replies View RelatedTwo days ago, all of a sudden (The phone often forgets wifi networks, I was using the Wifi password recovery & backup app, but that can't be the problem, I use it all the time), but all of a sudden, after a reboot, my wifi is turned off. I already found that to be strange, but then it became even stranger: when I tried to turn it on, it kept on 'turning it on' but never actually turned it on! (the switch is still dark gray in the 'on' fase). I tried to figure out why it was doing this, the last apps I installed were Tasker, Autovoice and secure settings, so I uninstalled them, no difference. I tried disabeling my xposed framework, no difference.
I tried wiping Cache and Dalvik cache, no difference. I accedently (swipe to wipe is dangerous!) completely wiped my phone, but still no difference. Then, using the Nexus Root Toolkit, I reverted back to stock and unrooted. Then finally, my wifi came back on . So I slowly installed everything again (stupid me had no backup) and the wifi kept working for a day.... And till now it's been off, not willing to turn on . It must be some app I installed I guess. I also tried to change kernels but again with no succes... Oh and my mac-adress is also nowhere to be found, is that normal when the wifi is turned off?
