Google Nexus 5 :: If Restart Phone Will That Start Installing The Pending Update
Dec 10, 2015There is a "downloaded and verified" software update on my phone that says Restart and Install. However, I do not want this update. If my phone restarts (accident, runs out of battery) will this start installing the update? If so, how can I stop it? I have an unrooted Nexus 5, and I do not want to root it.

Dec 30, 2013Had my Nexus 5 for about a month now, and have loved it till this morning, it decided to just shut off (full battery too) and i tried to turn it on and it is now just constantly starting up to the "Google" splash screen then shutting off.
Sometimes it gets to the the 4 color circles then shuts off.
Just now got through to start up and the screen flashed on and off and by the time i got to settings crashed and shut off again. I can't even get it to stop trying to turn on!

Sep 27, 2010Two weeks ago I bought a new Sony Ericsson Aspen for my daughter, While unlocking the phone today the phones operating system crashes. All attempts to switch off the phone failed so my daughter removed the battery and tried to restart the phone. Without success. The Sony Ericcson logo is shown accomplished with a short vibration. This continues in an endless loop. The only way to stop the phone is to remove the battery again. Pressing the rest button has no effect, the described behaviour continues.

Apr 3, 2015I have a nexus 5 that is less than a year old. Starting just 2 weeks ago my phone will turn itself off randomly. When I try to power it back it will either
1. keep looping through the google display(literally says google in white with black background then going completely black again) for a couples of times. or
2. Display google then shut it self off again. I have to power it back on again, and it may or may not do the same thing. or
3. start after one attempt.
For all cases after it starts it will say something like optimizing apps # out of # and I have to wait a couple of minutes for it to go through the process. The it will work normally after. On rare occasions it just starts normally doing anything weird. I've tried to take out the battery and putting it back in, didnt work.
Google Nexus 5 :: Won't Start But Charges And Is Recognized By PC
Jan 8, 2016I bought my nexus 5 the day it was launched. Worked great for 2 yeas+. Now is dead. It's a long story.
One day simply died. I pluged it to charge it and turn on and off constantly (boot loop). I watched some videos on youtube where people constrantly press the power button and after a moment, it worked. But eventualy stop working again and it never boot again.
I can't access fastboot, nothing. I researched again and found that the power button could be damaged. So I removed it and install a new one and SURPRISE. The loop was gone, it charges, but the power button doesn't seem to be working...or could be another thing!!!
When I plug it to the USB, the PC recognize it, but as "other device". However, it call it "Android". Can't understand.
If I search for adb devices on the command line, it founds nothing.
If adb devices could find it, maybe i'll be able to boot it from the command line, right?
Google Nexus 5 :: Don't Start Anymore - Can't Access Bootloader Or Recovery
Jun 1, 2015I've a Nexus 5, stock rom 4.4.4, rooted. Since 3 or 4 days I have unwanted reboots. And today, my nexus powered off and didn't want to reboot.
Even I press the power button for a long time (more than a couple of minutes) , nothing happened. The only thing I got, is when the device is plugged on usb charger : the nexus boot on the google logo then switch off and boot again on the google logo then switch off again and again and again....
I can't access bootloader or recovery... If the device is bricked, I just want to recover my. Is the flash memory could be recovered?
Google Nexus 5 :: Phone Doesn't Ask For Google Credentials After Many Unlock Attempts
Aug 22, 2015I'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.

Jul 20, 2014So this morning I woke up to my phone on a boot loop on the Google Logo. I have no custom roms or mods on it other than I am running ART. I suspect it could be battery related as it will only seem to do this on the charger but when I don't have it plugged in it won't even start up. When it's plugged in it won't even seem to want to stay "off", it boots up to the google logo on its own. If I hold down the volume rocker I can get into the bootloader but it resets before I can select anything and boots right back into the google logo.

Dec 18, 2015I can't get past the checking connection stage on my phone. I live behind great CHinese Firewall. When I first got the phone I set it up at work which has a VPN-ized network. I waited until my holidays (now) to unlock, root, etc.
However, I do not have access to vpns that are router based - only computer based. I can't seem to share these connections to get the Nexus to register and check a connection - phone times out rather than taking suggested 2 minutes. I can't seem to skip the process either. I CAn't get back to work at the moment so I am left with 'Couldn't connect to the Internet' message and of course LTE won't work either as it's behind the great firewall.

I can get into recovery and have flashed factory 5.1.1 and 4.4.4 images but all that changes is the device loops with older boot animations. Kwongger's NEXUS 5 Toolkit v2.2 completed successfully but didn't improve anything. Trying to flash Cyanogenmod I run into adb "unauthorised". The device had usb debugging enabled and the RSA key of the PC was accepted but after multiple factory resets it appears to be gone.

Jan 18, 2015Around a year ago, my Nexus 5 kept 'crashing' on a very regular basis. However, I'm saying 'crashing' between '' because the phone was still on. I felt it vibrating when I'm called, the music kept playing and the notification light flashes. So the device was on, the backlight was working, but my screen remained black. The only solution was to 'hard reset' the device (holding the power button +- 10 seconds). The problem however kept reappearing.
I send it back twice, did multiple factory resets (with and without backup) and it seemed fixed. Until now, the problem is back since last week.
Sometimes it 'crashes' twice in a row, sometimes the device works fine for another 24 hours straight. I'm currently doing another factory reset, but my experience tells me this won't really solve anything. This is also the reason why it's hard to explain this problem to the manufacturer: when I send it to them, I lose my phone for more than 3 weeks minimum and it could be that their tests show no problems at all.
