From what it seems like, it seems app is not running in background properly. Power saving is off, app optimization for WhatsApp is on default setting (can't change it because it is a system app), and data is running properly. All other apps do push notifications just fine. Running 5.1.1 COI9 build.
View 8 RepliesI recently made the switch from an iPhone 6 to a SG6 Edge. I am loving the phone except for one key thing. I am unable to receive text messages that are over 160 characters. I know that once an SMS is over 160 characters, it turns into an MMS. But the thing is, my MMS settings are set up, everything should be working okay.
I don’t know if this matters but this phone is unlocked with Sprint, and I am currently using Rogers as my service provider. If I cant find any resolution to this I think I am going to have to switch phones either back to an iphone (which I don’t want to) or another Android phone.
Here is the list of things I have done to try to fix this problem:
-Factory reset my phone, didn’t work
-Configured my MMS and APN settings manually.
-Sent myself a picture message, received it fine.
-Sent myself a message over 160 characters, received it fine.
-Used the stock messaging app, as well as 3 different ones. (currently using textra due to the simplicity of it)
-When I had my iphone, I disabled the iMessage, also went on the apple website to make sure my phone isn’t linked to imessage. Its completely off
-Rogers said it’s a problem on the other end (contacts aren’t sending messages properly)
-this is false because I wont get any messages from android users, blackberry users, and iphone users. Its not just one or two contacts, its my whole contact list.
-few of my buddies have the S6 edge and none of them have this problem. (few switched from iphone)
The only solution I can possibly think of is getting a different sim card, but service provider said this will do absolutely nothing.
I run a business and I need to be able to receive SMS messages over 160 characters (no I will not use a 3rd party app which Samsung suggested. I need my texts to work.)
I got some serious issues on the S6 with the backup of my messages from Whatsapp.Normally i use Helium to backup all my apps+data. Nowadays since Whatsapp has been part of Facebook this aint possible anymore.So i went the regular way, the backup messages and then copy the whatsapp/database to the new phone after installing whatsapp (Whatsapp is ofcourse already installed on the S6).It asks me to restore, i press yay!!!! All of the sudden it says it was unable to restore the messages.I tried many ways, emailing, through pc etc etc with the file to my new phone.I dont know if the file has been damaged through transfer, but normally you need to use your Sd card. Wich the S6 does not have!
Ok so i went to my girlfriend her phone and copied her backup to the S6 and tried aswell. Also doesnt work.I really want my messages back restored but it seems impossible.
I'm thinking of getting a new phone now since my screen is broken but before I do, I have got many important messages on WhatsApp so I have been wondering if it's possible and how to restore them all to the new phone? Does the "App data and settings restore" feature in the Backup & reset setting of the phone will do the trick? Or do I have to do the manual way which is locate the chat history file in the WhatsApp folder, copy it to my laptop and then paste it later in my newly phone?
View 20 Replies View RelatedI am using Galaxy S6 Edge. Issue started happening two days ago. Even when there are no new messages the WhatsApp icon shows "1" suggesting there is one unread message.
Also even though there are multiple unread messages it still shows "1" in the icon.
Tried clearing cache and force restarting the app and still doesn't work.
It's been quite a while since my what's app messages have not been loading. Only when I open what'sapp application, the messages loads...I don't receive any messages untill I open the app itself. Have tried everything.. My phone is not on stamina /ultra stamina mode. Que background data is also turned app. Also notifications setting for what's app is on. Still can't get over this issue.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having troubles with my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925W8 running Android 5.1.1. Ever since I upgraded to 5.1.1 I have sometimes been unable to receive text messages. This never used to happen with the older version of software I ran when I first got my device, and it is becoming rather annoying.
At random times I cannot receive text messages, and I have found the only way to 'spur' my device to receive messages would be to sending one. But this can be rather tedious, because if I haven't received a text in a while I'm not sure if it's my phone acting up again (so I must send a random text to try and download the waiting texts) or I just genuinely have not received a text.
Since the Lollipop update (I know, I know...) my group text messages haven't been downloading. Sometimes I'll see the MMS trying to download but it just times out and I never see it.
But then tonight I found out that I wasn't receiving any text messages from my roommates. The individually sent texts would come through but not the group ones.
Verizon ended up having me do a hard reset and it still didn't work.
The kicker though, my roommates turned off the iMessage/turn to regular SMS on their iPhones and app future text messages started coming through.
But I wasn't getting text messages from others with Androids too. It seems to be only on group messages though.
I have a Galaxy S6, a lot of my friends have IPhones... They are sending group messages with me included but I'm not receiving anything.

For example, if I had a contact for Jack & Jill, I would have a mobile number for Jill and a mobile number for Jack. In the Contacts I also custom label each mobile number as Jill's mobile and Jack's mobile.When I receive a text message from either of these phone numbers, in Messages I just see that the text is from Jack & Jill. I can't see if it is from Jack's mobile or Jill's mobile.Is there any way to see in Messages exactly which mobile is sending me the text? Or am I going to have to have a separate contact for each person, i.e. Jack & Jill will have to be split up as a contact for Jill and a contact for Jack?

I have an S6. And it has had the latest software update. Ever since yesterday, I am not receiving any notifications for ANYTHING, be it messages, whatsapp, facebook, snapchat etc, I only see I have a message if I click directly into the app and then it shows me i have new text/snap or whatevs. This is frustrating so much!!!!! Ive checked in my settings and I have all my notifications switched on, I even set them as a priority but still no joy! The wifi works fine with viber and facebook apps and it works with internet browsing, but I can't send messages using Whatsapp. I am not receiving friends' messages either. When I check my account status for Whatsapp, it says, "Your account type could not be determined. The most common explanation is that you have not been able to connect to the server yet."

I've just moved over to a Galaxy S5 from an iPhone 5S. I am using S Planner as my calendar, but I'm not recieving any meeting requests. My husband (who has an iPhone) has sent numerous event invites. They aren't showing up in S Planner or in my email. Yet I can send him an invite in S Planner and he will receive it on his iPhone.

I have tried unpairing and repairing the phone and sync, I get the message to allow acess to my phone book but not for texts (even doubled check that MAP profile was on, it was). Message notification set to on also. I think my phone updated, and that's when the texts stopped working.

I have read a lot about it, so I shut off iMessage on my mac and even disabled my number with iMessage on Apple's site. However, I am still not receiving some texts from iPhones. If they send a text just to me i get it fine (even though they may have to click send as a text message) but I won't be able to get it in a group text. It is frustrating because I can see some texts but not all of them. This has been happening for over a month now.

But 1- all my text messages are gone and 2 all my whats app chats are gone.
And yes, I backed up and synced my phone on Itunes before swapping.How can I get it back?
