got an s6 edge and the message "the dock is connected" constantly keeps popping up on the screen. my phone is overheating because of this and its draining my battery.

Today I have been getting ads popping up randomly. I open fb, an ad will pop up. I open Instagram an ad pops up.. Hasn't happened before. I've ran lookout and malware bytes and everything shows clean.
View 9 Replies View RelatedToday I woke up and it said a photo sharing cable was plugged in and there was nothing plugged into it. So I restarted my phone and then it wouldn't keep any app open for more than 5 seconds and it would exit out of it and didn't let me use the back button but the left one and the home button still worked. It also keeps saying the dock is connected when it isn't and when I tried charging it it kept not charging after a couple of seconds. Restarted again and this problem continued and then my phone said it was overheating but it wasn't even hot and it would turn off and now every time I turn on the phone within 5 minutes it says it is overheating and shuts down but it is cool as a cucumber.
Also it won't let me charge it because the battery is "too hot" and it's only at 30% so should I take it back to verizon?
As of this morning, my phone no longer charges using the supplied Samsung charger. Additionally, when I UNPLUG the cable from my computer or the wall, I receive a notification saying "The dock is connected" which is obviously odd as I have actually just disconnected the cabling. Along with this message, the docking audible is heard when plugging in the charger on either the computer or the wall.
When I plug into my computer, the phone is no longer recognized as a USB device either which makes it difficult to back anything up at this point.
I do not have the lighting bolt or any blinking LED's while the charging cable is plugged in.
So far I have done the following to troubleshoot
- tried different cable on both the computer and wall
- power cycled the phone multiple times
- checked for system updates. I am up to date.
- cleaned / blown out the charging port
- cleared system cache
I have not yet done a factory reset for obvious (last resort) reasons.
- My s6 Egde connects to wifi but no Internet connectivity, while 4G works without any issues.
- No problem from the Wifi end because I've another phone and it connects just fine over wifi.
I have hade som problems with my Wifi before using my Iphone that forced me to restart the wifi on my Iphone, but it worked when i did that.
I tried to restart my router, modem and phone wich made it work but not for long. So the issue is that it connects fine to the Wifi but i dont have any internet.
- My s6 Egde connects to wifi but no Internet connectivity, while 3G works without any issues.
- No problem from the Wifi end because I've another phone and it connects just fine over wifi.
- Plus, I have to actually turn off the Mobile Data so wifi can even connect (still no Internet though).
- When Mobile Data is on, Wifi says "Ready to connect when network quality improves" but as mentioned before, no problem with wifi.
I have been trying to connect my s6 edge to win7 without luck. I have tried the following (solo and mixing some changes) :
upgrade to latest Kies3
install Smart Switch
install Samsung USB driver
change the PC USB port
enable and disable the developers option
enable and disable the USB debugging
all resulted in the PC to be charging the s6 edge battery.
How to change the default app that gets launched when Bluetooth connects? It seems to always launch the built in music app which is definitely not what I want. Can I set this to Spotify or something else?

I set my security up last night to recognize my fingerprint, when i did that there is a option in there for you to click that it "hides content" when you click this,it just shows "New message" on your lock screen.

my old nokia n8, I could choose to receive notification that only showed the contacts name and let me know I had a message from them. Is this possible on the s6? I do not want the message preview on my screen so that everyone can see the message. I just want the contacts name only.
Is there a way to turn that setting off?

After installing the phone from the box all worked fine. Then suddenly message reminder stopped working despite all the settings are correct. After a complete reset (factory settings) all worked fine again for a few days and now again message reminder is not working.
What could be the course?
When I try to send multiple photos with my new s6 edge it will only load one of the pics to be sent via txt. When I try to send a video it says it has to resize video so I allow it to do so. But then when I send the video it is half the length and very blurry.

I don't know if i just noticed now or what, but whenever i get a text message or facebook message, basically any notification, my screen wont turn on and display it. Just led blink + sound+ viberate. I went into my settings and tried basically everything possible. I have show notifications on lock screen and inside messages app its toggled to show on lock screen also.

I just go an HD dock for my Droid RAZR but most of the options will not show up. Do you have to use an HDMI cable to make all of these work? Or can use a USB cable connected to a computer also?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I put my Atrix in my HD dock and the dock is powered on, the Atrix automatically brings up the widget clock in landscape. When the dock is powered off, nothing happens (screen stays off). Is there a way to start the widget clock mode manually -- I do not want to leave the Atrix charging all the time. I notice that there is an app to start the car dock view. Is there one to start the landscape clock widget? The Atrix is up to date running 2.3.4.

Voice search (the app you get to by holding search) and Soundhound give me errors every time I try to use them with the vehicle dock connected. If I disconnect the vehicle dock, they work again, and as soon as I reconnect it they quit working.
Strangely enough, the app "Text by Voice" seems to be unaffected.

From googling, it seems it's pushed from an app I have installed, but it should be easy to figure out as I've only installed 2 new apps on this phone that I didn't have on my last phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to root my SGSII. I downloaded Odin3 v.1.85 and clicked on the .exe file, but i get a pop up in Korean + the English letters ini. When I dismiss the pop-up the Odin3 window flashes on my desktop screen for a split second but won't stay up there permanently for me to finish rooting my phone. What is causing this and how can I fix it? Is there another link to download Odin3 that doesn't have this issue?
