I am been using Android for long time. The last Samsung mobile I used is S4 and I was using HTC M8 (Sense converted to GPe) before S6. I have my GPS is set to High because I used to use Maps for navigation a lot. But in S6, the notification panel keeps showing "Searching GPS location.." very often where I am not even using the Navigation. Is there something wrong.
galaxy s6 system ui turns on location often. I catch it about once every 2 days while on my phone. I long press the searching for gps and it shows "lollipop system UI". I'm guessing that is what is turning on the gps for a few seconds(~10s) every so often. I was wondering if there is a setting so it doesn't do that, because I think it's unnecessary.
Just updated system software to v.5.0.0.973 and bing the local searches and direction searchs no longer work. I have deleted and reinstalled bing several times with out any luck.
Having issues with 5GHz wifi becoming unresponsive and needing to be turned off and immediately back on to kick it into working? I've got Smart Network Switch and Download Booster (switch to mobile data if wifi is no good; use wifi + LTE) both switched off, so they shouldn't be a factor..
I even switched them back on and then off just to be sure that they were in fact off. After a painful day spent trying to transfer data to the new phone, and installing all of my usual apps - having to disable and renable wifi at least 50 times throughout the day - I decided to switch from using my 5GHz wifi to 2.4GHz (same router), and it now seems fine. Switching back to 5, and I end up back with the same result - wifi will work fine for a while before stopping.
My Galaxy S5 has no issue using the 5GHz (and neither do any other devices I have), so it doesn't appear to be the router (Asus RT-AC87U) at fault unless there's just some compatibility issue with the S6.
Listening to iHeart radio/podcasts has become very frustrating ever since lollipop upgrade because it is frequently pausing play on it's own. It happens to me both on cellular and strong Wi-Fi connections. When it happens, I can simply hit play button again to restart playing but it's getting real old real fast having the constant interruptions. I also opened a problem case with iHeart directly.
I am using a stock S6 in the UK and received an OTA update (Vodafone, screenshot attached) two days ago. Now my work exchange email account in the Gmail app has disappeared (no sign of it, all the emails and settings disappear). I can set it up again and it receives email for a few hours but then it randomly disappears again. I have two other accounts (gmail and IMAP) and both are unaffected.
In this statement I mean does it, only list/categorize people as frequently contacted if you text/call them or does it still list them if they text or call you? we were trying to figure this out but at the moment unable to...
S6 Verizon Stock Lollipop. Even with only 1 app open, suddenly the app goes into half size and close all keeps appearing and disappearing. How can I get this to stop?
When I open certain apps, the s5 like toolbox icon appears, which can only be dragged. But when I press it, the icon doesn't response, basically it is useless. But I want to remove it, any solution?
I recently switched from the HTC one M8 to the Samsung S6 edge and have not looked back since. Samsung really does make terrific phones. One thing I was curious about, that I noticed recently, was that when I plug headphones into the phone, the little headphone icon appears in the top left corner and says that headphones are now connected and then the icon and message disappear. Coming from the HTC one M8 I am used to the headphone icon remaining there the whole time my headphones are plugged in and was wondering if this is normal for it to prompt me that the headphones are connected and then disappear?
Also, on a, possibly related, side note, having weird issues with the spotify app just crashing or pausing for no reason? I was thinking that it was either due to notifications I was getting, a bad headphone jack, or maybe the app is just bugging out.
My phone was working fine one minute, but the next thing I know it turns off, the led starts blinking blue and the screen refuses to turn on. If I hold the volume button and the power button, the phone vibrates and the led stops blinking indicating that the phone powered off. I can then power it back on and it vibrates and the led starts blinking again indicating it is powered on, but the screen remains completely black and does not show any boot up animations or respond to any touches. As you can probably guess, with an unresponsive display I can't boot into recovery mode or anything.
The video is extremely blurry and appears out of focus when I send it via a text after the automatic resize it does. Is there a setting to adjust this?
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 (sm-g900f). Sometimes the screen just freeze, and grey lines appears (as in this picture goo.gl/qIdGg7 ).
The main button and the power still working, as I can see the white light turning on and off as usual after pressing them. And after click the power button once (which turn off the display), the screen remains black.
The phone is actually still working, as I can ear it ringing or receiving messages and email.
But I cant do anything, just take off the battery and restart it. I already reset it and the problem keeps happen again.
I have a notification always present that says, *Location is set by GPS*. I know that. How do I get rid of the notification? The notification (long press) is from Android UI.
A few days ago my Galaxy S6 started only doing a Web search when I would ask questions. In the past I would get the little cards with info on drive time or sports scores. Now all it will do is conduct Web search and bring up a list of sites. What I can do to fix this so I get the info cards again?
I am having with the Google search bar on my home screen? Before I installed lollipop I was able to go into the settings on Google and just clear the search history on the search bar. However since installing lollipop I can no longer use the same method and am forced to clear each search subject individually.
I have a new GAlaxyS6 and cannot locate the Clipboard where some txt is stored. How do I access the clip board? Also the mobile came with a USer Manual Installed as an App but now I cant find the Manuel.
I'm very happy with my S5 and the camera, but I keep having a quite annoying problem: The GPS location tag in the stock camera app keeps turning off for no apparent reason. I can turn it on, take a couple of pictures, and after a few hours it'll somehow be turned off again.
I have noticed that the searching location comes on and stays on even when location is turned off the only way I can stop is by turning location on then back of again. How do I fix that?
On my previous Android, I used to have to manually activate GPS separately from WiFi when using MAPS ... I don't see such a setting anymore. That implies to me that GPS is now automatically turned on when Location Services is on & I bring up Google Maps for navigation.. Is that true?
Ever since I've left the location on (before I always left it off and just turned it on when I used the GPS), I've noticed a big drain on my battery. I only get 2 hours SOT as opposed to around 5 like before.
I'm using a Sprint S6 and when I turn off Location having it set to wifi and mobile then restart it's on High Accuracy(GPS,Wifi,Mobile). Definitely something to consider when you're toggling that switch because I've noticed some what significant battery lost and it's always scanning on that mode.
Is there anyway to disable location requests per app like the iPhone? I have apps such as snapchat that are constantly checking my location when it doesn't need or require it. Whereas on the other hand I'd like location on for some apps.
I noticed the geo-location tag for my photos are quite a bit off from where my actual location is. Even though the pin is properly positioned on the actual location, the street name and house number are quite a bit off. Did they do this on purpose? The actual street that shows up on the detailed information for the picture is about 2 blocks from my house.
I've had my Galaxy S5 since it came out and haven't had any issues with it yet. All of a sudden this evening I noticed that when I got to the lockscreen that the GPS icon appeared in my notification bar. When I dragged down the bar it said "finding location" which was unclearable from the notification list. After unlocking the screen, sometimes the GPS icon will go away, and other times it just stays there.
Why it'd randomly start doing this now and never happened before? Any way I can get it to avoid doing that without turning my GPS off? I'm just concerned about it draining my battery life, but don't want to lose the benefits of GPS staying on.
I have a Galaxy s5 with 5.0. I recently had to do a factory reset. Now when I long press a photo from the net the photos do not show up in my gallery. They can be found in the file manager but not in the gallery. Prior to the factory reset it saved directly to the gallery. Photos taken with the camera appear in the gallery but they are the only ones that are displayed in the gallery. What am I missing?
