Galaxy S6 :: Does Location Automatically Include GPS?
May 22, 2015
On my previous Android, I used to have to manually activate GPS separately from WiFi when using MAPS ... I don't see such a setting anymore. That implies to me that GPS is now automatically turned on when Location Services is on & I bring up Google Maps for navigation.. Is that true?
I have owned a galaxy s6 edge for three or four months now and for the last month or so, the location setting has been turning itself on. I have noticed that this only happens when I have some form of internet connection (4g or wifi).
I checked the location services menu and it says that no apps have recently requested my location so why this is turning on. I have also moved my location quick setting to the end of the scrollable quick settings so there is no possibility of turning it on accidentally.
I don't want it to know where I am (data protection and all that).
Bold 9700. Is there a way to include the email signature for replies so that it appears after the new text and not all the way at the bottom of the original message?
I am not sure, but I think that before rooting and unrooting my Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos and installing a new firmware, with the power saving mode turned on,I could check for a weather information update without turning the location service manually on.
I suppose that the weather information service turned on the location service only for checking for weather information update automatically and then turned it off automatically again. And when I have pressed the weather update refresh button, it updated the weather information very fast. I would also like to add that the weather information, has been updating with no difference if the phone has been connected to a wi-fi network or 3G.
Is there a way I can get back that way of updating the weather information? That was only with the power saving mode turned on!
Is there a setting that will automatically turn on the correct location services when I launch Telenav? Otherwise, I launch telenav, then have to turn on the GPS widget, and then go back to telenav. Not too convenient when in the car,
I have a notification always present that says, *Location is set by GPS*. I know that. How do I get rid of the notification? The notification (long press) is from Android UI.
I have a new GAlaxyS6 and cannot locate the Clipboard where some txt is stored. How do I access the clip board? Also the mobile came with a USer Manual Installed as an App but now I cant find the Manuel.
I'm very happy with my S5 and the camera, but I keep having a quite annoying problem: The GPS location tag in the stock camera app keeps turning off for no apparent reason. I can turn it on, take a couple of pictures, and after a few hours it'll somehow be turned off again.
I have noticed that the searching location comes on and stays on even when location is turned off the only way I can stop is by turning location on then back of again. How do I fix that?
Why didn't they include iChat-AV on the new iPhone, don't understand it. Does that mean you can only do Facetime by calling somebody but not just using the WiFi?
Ever since I've left the location on (before I always left it off and just turned it on when I used the GPS), I've noticed a big drain on my battery. I only get 2 hours SOT as opposed to around 5 like before.
galaxy s6 system ui turns on location often. I catch it about once every 2 days while on my phone. I long press the searching for gps and it shows "lollipop system UI". I'm guessing that is what is turning on the gps for a few seconds(~10s) every so often. I was wondering if there is a setting so it doesn't do that, because I think it's unnecessary.
I'm using a Sprint S6 and when I turn off Location having it set to wifi and mobile then restart it's on High Accuracy(GPS,Wifi,Mobile). Definitely something to consider when you're toggling that switch because I've noticed some what significant battery lost and it's always scanning on that mode.
Is there anyway to disable location requests per app like the iPhone? I have apps such as snapchat that are constantly checking my location when it doesn't need or require it. Whereas on the other hand I'd like location on for some apps.
I noticed the geo-location tag for my photos are quite a bit off from where my actual location is. Even though the pin is properly positioned on the actual location, the street name and house number are quite a bit off. Did they do this on purpose? The actual street that shows up on the detailed information for the picture is about 2 blocks from my house.
I've had my Galaxy S5 since it came out and haven't had any issues with it yet. All of a sudden this evening I noticed that when I got to the lockscreen that the GPS icon appeared in my notification bar. When I dragged down the bar it said "finding location" which was unclearable from the notification list. After unlocking the screen, sometimes the GPS icon will go away, and other times it just stays there.
Why it'd randomly start doing this now and never happened before? Any way I can get it to avoid doing that without turning my GPS off? I'm just concerned about it draining my battery life, but don't want to lose the benefits of GPS staying on.
I have a Galaxy s5 with 5.0. I recently had to do a factory reset. Now when I long press a photo from the net the photos do not show up in my gallery. They can be found in the file manager but not in the gallery. Prior to the factory reset it saved directly to the gallery. Photos taken with the camera appear in the gallery but they are the only ones that are displayed in the gallery. What am I missing?
My system is listed below. I have LOCATION TAG turned on. In looking at the INFORMATION on the photo, it shows GPS coordinates instead of the physical location (street, road, etc). Is that the way it works, or do I need to change the settings?
It mentions in the new Ovi Maps 3.03 that it has new features compared to the previous version 3.01. Which includes Events, Weather, Lonely Planet guide and Michelin guide.
I've installed the new Ovi Maps 3.03 on my Nokia E72, and I got the Events, Weather and Lonely Planet guide. However, there's no Michelin Guide on my Ovi Maps 3.03.
I also notice that the PDF documentation has 2 versions, one for the non-touch GPS phones (eg. E52/E55/E72) and another for touch GPS phones (eg. 5800 XM, N97 mini).I am guessing that the Michelin Guide is only present on the Touch version phones (5800 XM and N97 Mini). Could any users who have installed the new Ovi Maps 3.03 confirm if this is correct? Kindly indicate your phone model and whether you have Michelin Guide included with the new Ovi Maps...
how to add on golf courses ... I'm not referring to the courses that is in the MOTOACTV database.I'm trying to add courses which are not in MOTOACTV data base.
I am been using Android for long time. The last Samsung mobile I used is S4 and I was using HTC M8 (Sense converted to GPe) before S6. I have my GPS is set to High because I used to use Maps for navigation a lot. But in S6, the notification panel keeps showing "Searching GPS location.." very often where I am not even using the Navigation. Is there something wrong.
