Galaxy S6 :: No 4G When On WiFi?
Jan 1, 2016Carrier - VZW. It appears that when I have wifi turned on, the 4G icon at the top of the screen isn't lit. If I turn the wifi off, the 4G icon comes back on. What's up with that?

View 1 RepliesI've been seeing this for a while now. My phone has been showing that my WiFi has constantly been running, when I turn it off whenever I'm on the road. I'm thinking this is why my battery is draining even when I'm constantly on Battery Saving mode. I doubt it's caused my lollipop since I've hard reset already, and that solved my overheating and messaging problems. Why my WiFi is always on?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a new Galaxy S6, using it with MetroPCS service that works over the T-Mobile network. I took my GS6 to Canada and connected to a motel wifi. I was able to get/send e-mails, use Facebook, etc. - but when I tried to make a phone call it would not work....kept telling me I did not have an account there. I could not figure out how to direct it to make the call over the wifi network....no switch showed up to let me try that option. (My son's iPhone 6 has a switch letting him select how the call is made...over the cell tower or by WiFi). How do I get that capability to work, or does this phone not have that feature??

I was chatting with Sprint text support and they are trying to tell me this is a limitation for Android phones. I know this is BS because my wife has a HTC M8. Am I doing something wrong? Are others experiencing this with their Edge S6?
Their solution is to send MMS messages over mobile data. I do not think it is acceptable to have to toggle between mobile and wifi to send group messages. I did test and the group/MMS messaging does work on Mobile data so this is purely limited to my wifi being an issue...
Was wondering if the GPS on the S6 will work without WiFi or data turned on and if so, is the same true overseas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had this phone since May and kept it in perfect condition but It all started Thursday, i got home and noticed my phone switching on and off wifi, not updating apps, no fb messager notifications, getting hot and losing alot of battery life, and not searching for update.
I have T mobile and people say just turn off smart Wifi switch and i did but my phones slow with those problems while on Wifi still even with a 100+MB connection.
When Wifi is off though it works perfectly...
When i try to turn on my wifi button, sometimes nothing happens, the other times it quickly turns on then off. This means i am not even able to scan for networks. Also makes the whole phone lag.Sometimes if just says "turning on...." but nothing happens
When screen rotation is turned on on the wifi page, the screen rotates 90 degrees but leaves the left side of the screen black, then after 3 seconds properly rotates. The only way to back out of the wifi page, is to continually press the home button, the back button doesnt work. When not on the wifi page the phone doesnt lag anymore.
I can't get my WiFi to turn on at all on my phone. Ever since the lollipop update, I've been having a plethora of issues with my phone. It doesn't charge using any charger... I literally have to replace the battery with a different one once it dies. Now all of a sudden my WiFi is messed up. Any of the options to turn on WiFi show up as grayed out. When I press WiFi button, it turns slightly green for a second and then turns off.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently moved into my friend's place and have tried connecting to our netgear wifi, however when searching through the available wifi list it says this network is "not in range." I am standing right next to the router so I do not understand why this is happening but I desperately need to get this solution resolved asap. Any input on how I can connect to this wifi? I've tried the obvious method of unplugging it and rebooting, but that didn't do anything. I can connect on my laptop just fine, however my S5 will not even recognize it as a viable option.
There is a picture on the router that has a lock on top of a signal, however I cannot seem to turn this off. I do not know if this is the culprit. When I try to turn it off (by clicking it or holding down the button) it merely starts blinking, however I cannot get the light pertaining to this button to turn off entirely.
All of a sudden the on/off WiFi switch will not turn on. I have rebooted, selected all the recommended steps. My WiFi is working, in fact I am on my Chromebook using the same WiFi now.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWith my Galaxy s-6 Pandora will only play with wifi, when I am out of range the song title will come up but no music, then another title will come up. I-heart radio will work as does Amazon music. This started about 1 month ago before that all was fine. I have reset to factory setup so even with a clean phone it will not work. Again only workers with wifi.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving issues with 5GHz wifi becoming unresponsive and needing to be turned off and immediately back on to kick it into working? I've got Smart Network Switch and Download Booster (switch to mobile data if wifi is no good; use wifi + LTE) both switched off, so they shouldn't be a factor..
I even switched them back on and then off just to be sure that they were in fact off. After a painful day spent trying to transfer data to the new phone, and installing all of my usual apps - having to disable and renable wifi at least 50 times throughout the day - I decided to switch from using my 5GHz wifi to 2.4GHz (same router), and it now seems fine. Switching back to 5, and I end up back with the same result - wifi will work fine for a while before stopping.
My Galaxy S5 has no issue using the 5GHz (and neither do any other devices I have), so it doesn't appear to be the router (Asus RT-AC87U) at fault unless there's just some compatibility issue with the S6.
Phone is G920I (Australian version, 64GB)
If ATT and Verizon enabled wifi calling for our devices would that mean I can send a full quality video to other phones (like imessage) without it being compressed and distorted ? I know imessage uses wifi and their own servers but Im not sure exactly how that works.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm just starting to have this issue as when my wifi is turned off I have no data service however I can only make and receive calls. I notice the signal for my reception bar is full however I it doesn't say 4g or anything at all next to it. I restarted the phone, drove to different locations same issue. I think this started from yesterday. I also checked my mobile data setting, seems to be set correctly and it's on. Attach is a photo of signal and no data works.

View 4 Replies View RelatedPrevious to my Verizon S6 getting the 5.1.1 update my phone would drain about 2% per hour on wifi. But now it's all over the place. On my work network it's still around 2%, but at home or public spaces it can get up to 4%. Is there anything I can do about this? All of my settings and appa are the same as they previously were.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've found my wifi connection at home to be dropping non-stop, and then immediately reconnecting. It's only happening on my S6 edge. Even though my wife's phone (and my laptop) stay connected, I reset the router. Nothing. I also cleared my cache. Smart Network Switch has been off to preserve battery life.
Would rather not factory reset, but will if that's my only option.
