View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought a 2nd hand but pretty new S6. It had 3 software on it which has now gone. I have the latest version of Android and I am on "EE" but there is no option for me to turn on "Wifi Calling" The warranty centre who flashed the phone, said they were unable to put EE software on the phone. Any other way to add Wifi calling to the phone??
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife recently bought the Galaxy S5 on Verizon and when anyone sends her a MMS while on wifi it will show that she received it but a download button shows instead of the picture. When she clicks on the button it gives a status bar and then proceeds to say the phone needs to be on data. The same type of message happens when trying to send an MMS.
I have the S4 on the same network and I can do all of this on wifi without any issues.
My galaxy s5 is disconnecting from my wife though I have all the settings for that type of thing off.. It disconnects and reconnects the moment it disconnects... What could be the issue?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know this has probably been asked and answered a thousand times but...I recently took over ownership of a Galaxy 2 from someone else in the family and only use internet through wifi as I dont have data included in my tariff. However, I just saw on latest bill, I have a load of charges for data usage!I have done various searches and there seems to be lots of solutions but no DEFINITIVE one that i have read? The most obvious one I have read is to switch the data mode off from the power button. Another is to deactivate packet data in the network menu (I would have thought the first action would do the same?). I have done both but the charges still continue. I assume then that some apps are running in the background and accessing at random times?
So is what I am describing a normal 'feature' of the phone? Why is the phone allowing apps to override a very high level user setting???If this is the case, my searching has now left me baffled. I have read about downloading apps to switch the 3G connection off? Also I read I could set the phone to run on 2G?Does setting the phone on 2G affect any other functionality? I would like to use the phone for everything else eg wifi gps etc. I just dont want any non wifi internet data usage at all permanently!Lastly, I believe with the network internet connection, I cannot send or receive mms at all? I guess I will have to accept that.
Having issues after the update? Phone freezes during a call. Does the phone tell you that you are on a WiFi call?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI thought it was very strange that after taking home my new Galaxy S6, that when I prompted it to connect to my personal password protected (WPA/WPA2) Wi-Fi, that it connected with no problems and never asked for a password.
That prompted me to check the security for my Wi-Fi, which is still in place. I use the Cisco Linksys EA6300 for my Wi-Fi. I have always been prompted for a password when first connecting. Maybe it was me signing into my Google account? Maybe it stores Wi-Fi passwords?
My old Galaxy S4 always connect in the strong Wi-Fi Spot, but Galaxy S6 do not does that.

View 12 Replies View RelatedMy wifi connection works great with my home router and at my public library (where I don't need authentication) but anywhere else where I need to logon to wifi (three establishments now) , I can't connect. My password seems to get taken and from the wifi screen it looks to be connected initially but then keeps trying to connect but never actually does.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have noticed every since lollipop update, whenever someone else connects to the router my internet stops loading on Galaxy S5, this did not happen before lollipop, also I own a iPad mini and iPhone 5c and they both work fine as well, so I'm sure the problem it's with the GS5.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt seems that when I am connected to any WiFi network (home or work) my phone will constantly switch between 4G and WiFI. The only way I have been able to work around this issue is by disabling Mobile Data while I am on WiFi and disabling Smart Network Switch.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've never had a problem connecting to my home wifi, everything was working fine on Friday, I left the house, went to my girlfriends and my phone connected to her wifi without a problem as usual. I returned home on Saturday and my S5 failed to connect to my wifi, I connected it manually and it connects and disconnects almost instantly. I have 5 other devices including a samsung galaxy note 4 in the house which all work perfectly fine. I've tired switching the router off and on again and that makes no difference, I removed the phone battery for 5 minutes and it then connects to the wifi for about 5-10 seconds then again disconnects, what else I can try....

Galaxy S5 running 4.4.1
My S5 won't find my home wifi. It doesn't even come up as an option to select in the wifi networks. Other networks can be found, like my grandparents wifi and my neighbours however I can't find my own. Even when I manually add the network using our SSID and network password it just says that the connection is "not in range".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently moved off to college and for the first two weeks the WiFi worked great. Then all of a sudden the WiFi would say connected and strong signal but all of my apps would say check connection. I've been going over my limit on mobile data because of this and recently I went home for the weekend and the phone had no problem using my WiFi at home. Also anywhere on campus my laptop and old iPhone 4 get great WiFi service so the problem has to be with my S5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy wife have Galaxy S5's, I have a Note 3 and tablets with my children also have a laptop that all connect to WIFI to internet with no problem - EXCEPT My wife GALAXY S5. The Galaxy S5 is working fine until recent upgrade to Lolipop 5. I have check my router and I could see the connection of the Galaxy S5 in the wireless device list. I have tried few approach as below none of them worked out.
1) Forgetting the connection and re-connect doesn't work.
2) I tried static IP address for connection and it doesn't work as well.
3) Even tried wipe the cache partition and it didn't work out as well.
4) Factory reset the phone and yet the internet connection via home wifi failed
I both have Galaxy S5's, each have tablets & my son has iPad, also have a laptop that all connect to WIFI to internet no problem - EXCEPT MY GALAXY S5. I don't understand what is going on. I have gone into my router, can see the phone there in the list of connected devices. Checked to see if the phone was blockedIt seems that my wifi on my phone is connecting to the router, then off, then on, then off. Sometimes it connects for like 10 seconds, then I can open a page, then it wont go again.
Is there a way I can go into my application manager on the phone & force stop the wifi or delete the cache on the wifi? it is clear that the issue is on the S5's end.
My phone updated to version 5.1.1, and since then I no longer receive push notifications when the phone is connected to wifi but asleep. Waking the phone up - by swiping the screen - activates it and the messages come in. This is particularly diferent because MightyText doesn't work until I wake up the phone.
I have looked through all settings and cannot find a solution:
- power saving mode is off
- 'Keep wifi on during sleep' is set to 'Always'
- I have no battery saving apps on my phone.
I'm wondering if using Wifi (while cell data turned on) uses more than cell data (with wifi off) alone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can not get my galaxy s5 to automatically connect to 4G after being connected to wifi, the smart network switch is activated however it doesn't make any difference. the only way for me to reconnect to my network is to restart the device.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy s5, and recently updated to Lollipop. Had all the major problems reported, so I did a system restore which fixed a few of them. My most pressing concern, however, is that I can no longer connect to my work WIFI. I had no problems connecting prior to the update. The WIFI is set up where you connect, and then a webpage should open up for you to login to the system. My browser opens, but will not load a page. The progress bar gets stuck on one spot.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEver since I got my Sprint Galaxy S5 phone, it drops it's Wifi connection constantly. I have taken the phone back to Sprint and they assure me that it is fine. However, in the mean time it is still dropping the Wifi and now i am getting charged over usage charges for going over my 1GB limit..
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S6 on the EE network in the UK. I should have the option to use wifi calling but the option is not present in the settings menus. My phone was not originally supplied by the EE mobile provider, instead I purchased the phone which appears to have come from Italy and has the Italian mobile provider TIM (this is shown on the CSC code on the phone)
How to either change this CSC code to the UK one for EE or at least the generic one for UK specific firmware, or a way of somehow enabling the wifi calling feature - I did look this up but I can't edit the necessary system config (xml) files as they are read-only and my phone is not rooted.
Whenever my phone disconnects from wi-fi, it makes a short noise. Apart from why it is disconnecting all the time, the noise is annoying because the phone is set to vibrate - hence it shouldn't be making any sound at all! I'm using the stock 5.1 ROM on the S6 international version.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried multiple wifi connections and my s6 will connect to them but when connected nothing that requires data loads at all and as soon as I'm off wifi my phone will load everything using mobile data. I've only had the phone a few days and have used almost 3 gigs of data!
