View 5 RepliesFor some reason, a error keeps popping up every time I connect to my home wifi. The phone connects perfectly fine and it says it is connected, but whenever I attempt to use the internet nothing will load at all. The wifi bars are there and are full, but nothing works. In wifi settings it says it is connected. On all of the other desktops, laptops, and mobile devices in the house the same wifi works perfectly fine. So, I have come to the conclusion that it must be something having to do with the phone.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am traveling out of the country and my S6 is in airplane mode with wifi on and connected to a wifi network in a different country. However, the time zone is not updating, even though the phone knows I'm not in the Pacific time zone anymore (in Google Maps, it shows that I am in a different country). My previous Android phone, the Motorola DROID MAXX, also did not update the time zone despite being connected to a wifi network in a different country.
Interestingly enough, my iPhone 6 Plus, which is also in airplane mode with wifi on, does detect that I'm in a different time zone (once it connects to the wifi network) and changes the time automatically.
Am I missing a setting? Or is this a normal (non)function of Android phones?

View 12 Replies View RelatedMy wifi connection works great with my home router and at my public library (where I don't need authentication) but anywhere else where I need to logon to wifi (three establishments now) , I can't connect. My password seems to get taken and from the wifi screen it looks to be connected initially but then keeps trying to connect but never actually does.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife have Galaxy S5's, I have a Note 3 and tablets with my children also have a laptop that all connect to WIFI to internet with no problem - EXCEPT My wife GALAXY S5. The Galaxy S5 is working fine until recent upgrade to Lolipop 5. I have check my router and I could see the connection of the Galaxy S5 in the wireless device list. I have tried few approach as below none of them worked out.
1) Forgetting the connection and re-connect doesn't work.
2) I tried static IP address for connection and it doesn't work as well.
3) Even tried wipe the cache partition and it didn't work out as well.
4) Factory reset the phone and yet the internet connection via home wifi failed
I both have Galaxy S5's, each have tablets & my son has iPad, also have a laptop that all connect to WIFI to internet no problem - EXCEPT MY GALAXY S5. I don't understand what is going on. I have gone into my router, can see the phone there in the list of connected devices. Checked to see if the phone was blockedIt seems that my wifi on my phone is connecting to the router, then off, then on, then off. Sometimes it connects for like 10 seconds, then I can open a page, then it wont go again.
Is there a way I can go into my application manager on the phone & force stop the wifi or delete the cache on the wifi? it is clear that the issue is on the S5's end.
I can not get my galaxy s5 to automatically connect to 4G after being connected to wifi, the smart network switch is activated however it doesn't make any difference. the only way for me to reconnect to my network is to restart the device.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy phone will no longer automatically connect to saved WiFi networks. It knows they're there, because if I go to Settings -> WiFi, it shows up in the list as a "saved" one. Tapping on it and selecting "connect" does nothing. I have to turn off the WiFi and turn it back on, and it will then automatically connect.
Additionally, WiFi will not stay off. If I'm some place I don't want it to connect to WiFi, I turn it off so that I don't get messages that networks are available (specifically when I'm driving, it's really annoying to deal with that over Waze).
I've got a Sprint GS5, running stock (not rooted), on 5.0. No updates available for the phone. It does this on every WiFi network I have saved (home, school, and school apartment, among others). I've also tried turning Smart Switch off and on, it makes no difference for either issue.
I have a time capsule connected to a BT Infinity Hub and I have disabled wifi on the hub and set up a private network on the time capsule. My daughters laptop, ipad and my ipad can connect to the network but 2 x iphone 4 and 1 x iphone 4s cannot. They can see the network, they get the password prompt but when connecting they get the error message unable to join the network.

Was using Airport Extreme and having no problem connecting iPhone 4S and Ipad2 to the WiFi. Now added the new 3TB Time Capsule as the main router and can no longer get devises to connect.

S6 keeps restarting on its own regularly. Also charging issues. Phone is 1 month old and only started having trouble. Any fixes or is it faulty phone.

Things I have done > Factory Reset: I did a factory reset and while I was uploading contacts through kies it restarted.I have used another launcher: it still restarted while I was web browsing. ( did not download any apps for a couple days and problem still persisted randomly due to web browsing) Turned off Google Sync: It seemed to have solved the problem because it did not restart for like 2 days, but while using Pandora it lagged the music and it ended up restarting again.Cleared the cache/cookies: did nothing and still randomly restarted. Removed all facebook applications: problem still persist after a while of use.

But it won't stop going from the samsung screen, to the AT&T scree, to the optimizing apps screen, and loading maybe 12/65 apps, and then going black, and then back to the samsung screen. Unfortunately the reality is very disappointing. My phone restarts itself all the time (6x in the last hour alone) and there are constant 'Unfortunately app x has stopped working' messages (15 in the last hour). The applications that crash are everything from FB to the keyboard to the Play Store, nothing consistent.
I have tried starting in safe mode to check if it was a third party app causing the problem, deleting the app cache, wiping the cache partition, a soft reset, a hard factory reset. Unfortunately nothing works and the problems continue.

This has been since the 5.1.1 update, I have factory reset and cleared cache and it still happens. Thinking of flashing the international software to see if it happens with that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have paired my bluetooth device to Galaxy S5. No issues. If I go into my settings and select bluetooth, I see my device list as the only "paired device"
EVERY morning, I have to go into my bluetooth settings and click the _only_ paired device to connect. When I do, it connects with no issues.
All I want the S5 to do is connect when it gets in range (in range since bluetooth is always on).
I doesn't do this by itself. Why? I do not have any issues pairing. It just doesn't auto connect.
I noticed that the wifi keeps disconnecting and reconnecting right after everytime I transfer significant amount of data. I also noticed that the frequency of the drops are proportional to the amount of data downloaded.
For exemple, if I simply load a light page it drops and reconnects maybe once or twice, but if I'm close to the router (higher speed) and try downloading some heavy package it disconnects and reconnects every 5 seconds. Seems like it can't handle high speed data transfer.
I've already tried testing all the 12 channels on my router, and I also have the smart switch disabled. In addition to that, I live with 3 guys and none of their devices show any problem so I hardly think that the problem is the modem or the router.
I've also tried a hard reset and this problem has been showing even before I upgraded to Lollipop...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently moved into my friend's place and have tried connecting to our netgear wifi, however when searching through the available wifi list it says this network is "not in range." I am standing right next to the router so I do not understand why this is happening but I desperately need to get this solution resolved asap. Any input on how I can connect to this wifi? I've tried the obvious method of unplugging it and rebooting, but that didn't do anything. I can connect on my laptop just fine, however my S5 will not even recognize it as a viable option.
There is a picture on the router that has a lock on top of a signal, however I cannot seem to turn this off. I do not know if this is the culprit. When I try to turn it off (by clicking it or holding down the button) it merely starts blinking, however I cannot get the light pertaining to this button to turn off entirely.
I'm currently overseas trying to get data to work on my unlocked/unrooted S5. I'm able to use a Jamaica Digicel chip in my phone to make and receive calls and text, but can't connect to data, unless using wifi.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a big problem with my Xperia Z3, I i am using lollipop 5.0.2 . It worked fine with no issue until yesterday when I restart my xperia z3 it just keep on restarting . I switched it off and the on again.
Now its stuck at” Android upgrading, starting apps” all the time and it keeps restarting. I have tried to soft –reset nothing is happening. I have reached at a level to lose everything in the phone especially my contacts by deciding to do a hard/factory reset but still I cant do that using volume up or down. I am totally stuck. How to get rid of this. I cant get into recovery mode coz nothing is happening when I press key combination.
I have a new S6 on Verizon and am trying to connect to the WiFi network at my office. I'm able to connect to the WiFi at my home, but that's the only other one I've tried.
The WiFi at work uses a dual-step authentication, where you connect to the WiFi and then browse to an internet site, where you are first directed to a page where I must accept their Terms & Conditions. However, this page is never shown on my phone - the browser just said there is no network.
In fact, when I click on Connect on the WiFi entry for my office network, it says "Connecting..." and then nothing. No WiFi icon in the status bar or any error is shown.
I've shown this to our IT folks and they have no answer - they simply state that everyone else is able to connect (although I have the only S6 it seems).
I've read through the WiFi troubleshooting guide I've seen in other posts, but nothing seemed to work.
I've rebooted the phone, "forgot" the wifi and re-created it - nothing works.
The phone is running Android 5.1.1
I've contacted Verizon support and they suggested that I do a factory reset on the phone, but I hate to go to such an extreme step. Is there any way I can debug the issue to determine why it is not connecting on the WiFi?
I have an issue with my Verizon S5. I suddenly have a problem connecting to wifi networks. When I go into the settings>wifi I can see networks no problem but when I select one to connect to there are two options, connect and cancel. For some reason the connect option is grayed out, well actually its light blue. The network I'm trying to connect to is secure and I have the password but even when I enter the password I can't select the connect option. I connected to a hotel network just last night no problem and today I have this.
