View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my Moto X (2014) has been a little slow lately. I decided that I'd try and clear the cache for the first time seeing as how I've encountered that recommendation several times here on the site. I've never done it, even after upgrading to 5.0.
Today I tried it and it just got stuck on "Formatting /cache..." for about 10 minutes before I decided just to reboot and try again. I've cleared cache on several other devices before and it's usually very very quick. After a reboot, same thing with the exception of these error messages:
I gave up and just booted into the OS. The phone is working ok but I don't think my cache is cleared. I have a 32GB Pure Edition. No root or custom ROMs or anything.
I have Defy running on 2.1. I have installed some of applications from Android market (say 15 apps) and the performance of my Defy has decreased very drastically. I wanted to know how can i improve the performance of my Defy ? Should i clear cache for these applications ?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI now for the past hour am trying to wipe the partition cache but when I get to the last step where it shows the no command instead of it bringing me to the recovery menu it just reboots every time.
To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps:
Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up and the Volume Down and Power keys at the same time for about 10 seconds.
An image of an Android lying on its back will appear.
Press the Volume Down key twice until "Recovery mode" appears on the screen.
Press the Power key to restart in "Recovery mode."
An image of an Android with a red triangle will appear.
While holding down the Power key, tap the Volume Up key.
The Android System Recovery screen will appear. Release all keys. (But it does not appear it just reboots the device and brings me back to the lock screen every time)
Use the Volume keys to scroll to wipe data cache partition and press the Power key to select.
The phone will restart.

If I refresh the page, I get the latest news page, but browsing to a news item and then attempting to return to the home page takes me back to the old cached page. The only way to clear cache is to delete the History in the browser settings and I have done this several times but to no avail. I am unable to understand why the old news page keeps coming up.

Each time I get to the point where I select clear cache, and after running some scripts on the screen, the fallen down android icon flashes randomly and the phone never recovers. I've let it sit for as long as 45 minutes with the icon flashing and eventually had to turn it off and restart the phone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust a question for everyone that occasionally wipes the cache partition from recovery like I do. I'm on my 2nd replacement and after I set it all up I wiped the cache partition but for some reason it takes longer than usual for the process to finish. Usually it would be like 2 seconds where now it takes around 35-40 seconds to complete. How long does it usually take you to clear your cache?

View 5 Replies View RelatedOK so my phone was basically wrecked with the original Lollipop update. Did the cache partition wipe, factory restore, and for a while it was ok.. then it started acting up again - getting super hot, quick battery drain, apps crashing. Applied the other update from Verizon and went through all the same steps again, with the same results. Each time I reinstalled fewer and fewer apps. Now I've just done another cache partition wipe, factory restore, set up no email accounts, installed no apps, and am running in safe mode.. and my phone feels pretty hot. What's the best/safest way to check the health (temp) of the battery? Should I install GSam for a while? Or is there a way within the stock battery stuff to check the temp?
