So I got an update on my international version S6 gold platinum. It was about 70mb in size. After updating I didn't really notice anything different until when my phone gave me a notification or a reminder to optimise the apps I'm not using.
It took me to
Smart manager > battery > optimization
And there it was, a "Doze" like feature which puts apps to sleep if you want them to. After a certain period of time if left unused.
Here's a screenshot.
I've noticed an improvement in battery life ever since. I put all the apps on optimization which I don't use much often.
On my Galaxy S5, every couple of days, I get a push notification called "App optimisation". "Save battery power by optimising the power usage of apps" ......
I don't want this notification, ever. Normally, the way to get rid of unwanted push notifications on Android is to long tap the notification which brings up the App Info, and then you untick "Show notifications". However, I cannot do that this time, as the "Show notifications" tickbox is ticked, but greyed out, so I cannot untick it.
How else can I get rid of this annoying, intrusive notification?
i have just downloaded the new firmware and was wondering wich files were the PDA file and the PHONE file as on the update it says moden on one of them. i have already found the CSC just its been a while ive done this and cant remember if the moden file was th PDA or the PHONE file?
My Galaxy SII had to have it's screen replaced (I'll hold my hands up, I dropped it). Before the repair I'd updated the phone to 2.3.5 which saw significant improvements such as battery life etc.During the repair the phone was reset to 2.3.4 and now I can't get it to update to 2.3.5 either via Kies or over the air.
Google hangouts not updating their conversations properly? Messages I send don't show up in the chat unless I exit the conversation and then go back in. What gives? Is this something with hangouts or the s6? Like maybe the ram management thing?
And while we're in it, is it me or did the Google keyboard get noticeably worse too? Auto correct isn't as accurate or reliable anymore. I also notice they've removed the aggressive auto correct feature.
Since updating to 5.0 (T-mobile G900TUVU1DOB1), the widgets installed do not update. The Samsung clock widget being the main one for me. I have tried several clock widgets since and they are all the same.Is this a 5.0 error, Samsung issue, or other?
My girlfriend got the gs5 on VZW a few months ago, and has enjoyed it a lot. When I heard about the nightmares of lollipop (especially on VZW) I told her to avoid the update. Now, she's telling me that she was just forced to pick a time today for her to update, and at 5 pm tonight it will do it. Is there anything she can do to stop this update? I told her to check in about phone but she said nothing relevant is there. How can they force you into an update that breaks your phone?
I mean by before, I have noted other posts refer to factory reset, cache clearing, and a couple of other bits/bobs, what is the best route from scratch? I have done a small list below, if you can put it into do first, 2nd, 3rd etc and add any other actions I may have missed off? I want this to be as near a perfect upgrade as possible...Fully charge battery Factory reset + How to get to (the button route) Cache Clearing + How to get to (the button route)Back up and what needs backing up, and what not to back up Any other missed off procedures before updating?
I need help updating to android 4.0. I have been going trough pages and reading, but there is simply too much stuff that i cant understand. Here is the situation: I can't update to android 4.0 through kies. What i need to do?
I have rooted my phone earlier, installed custom ROM, and then installed android 2.3.4 stock firmware. Information above tells everything about my SGS2. I can't find android 4.0 firmware download links, or instructions how to even do it. I have odin, and before i rooted my phone i took this information up what my phone used to be
baseband 19100xxki4 kernel i9100xwki8
To be hones, i don't know what those even mean. I only know that now they are different, and because my CSC is wrong i cant update with kies. I installed application called CSC select and it says my CSC is KOR. I also read that it needed to be NEE(nordic countries), to be able to update with kies. How ever CSC select application doesn't have a NEE available...
I've been told by Samsung technical support that updating from Gingerbread 2.3.X to ICS won't be available over the air because it's such a large file and the risk of updating OTA is too high. So [according to Samsung technical support] the only way to update to ICS (other than via ODIN) will be via Kies.
Am I correct in thinking that to have a hassle free upgrade from Version 2.3.X to ICS you should do a factory reset prior to downloading the update then another factory reset after you've downloaded the update? Also can you still update OTA after doing the first factory reset? Is it better to update OTA rather than use Kies? Also do the apps that you downloaded under 2.3.X still work under ICS?Most of all is ICS worth it?
I am having alot of problems with updating my samung galaxy s2.everytime i connect my phone to my laptop and open up Kies it tells me i have a software update so i try update and it looks like its updating but every few mins it stops and tells me " The internet is not connected do you want to check the internet connection and try again ? " i retry and it starts off again but stops a min or 2 later. There doesnt seem to be a problem with my connection cause i can run websites and other internet programs without any trouble.
My S6 is rooted. So I was going through a root app called lucky patcher and accidentally deleted the file com.google.processes.gapps. I couldn't fix it so I just assumed I would factory reset. Now the phones is stuck on the first updating page. I tried to factory reset again but still dose the same thing wen it reaches the page again.
I have a Galaxy S6 Edge (Verizon) that I just updated to 5.1.1. It has now started randomly rebooting a few times a day. It seems to do this whenever it is on a charger (wireless or wired) and when it reaches 100%, but I have not yet seen it reboot while I've been holding it. This is not the problem where it then starts optimizing apps after rebooting. It just reboots. Any solutions to this (last resort is factory reset)?
I'm completely new to android devices. On my wife's Samsung Galaxy S5, it seems like the weather degrees on the lock screen does not update. Is there something possibly not turned on in the settings of this phone?
I have an S5 and periodically it stops updating my email. I have 3 accounts + gmail [which updates fine], and all of them are set to auto sync every 15 min. If I power down and restart, all emails sync to current time,
I''m trying to update the firmware on my Galaxy S2 (or GT-i9100) phone through Kies 2.1.1 on Windows 7 x64.. If finds the update available for the device and shows windows to update firmware. The new/latest update version available is PDA-KL1/PHONE:KL1/CSC:KL1(INU) After clicking to update, it downloads the update and goes into next step of "Preparing firmware update components", but then the process terminates after few seconds and nothing happens. The phone reconnects to kies s/w and again the firmware upgrade window is shown. So cannot update the firmware.
When Jelly Bean becomes available either OTA or via Kies will I have to go though the same procedure I had to when I updated to ICS i.e. back-up, factory reset then download and install ICS then another factory reset?
WHILE updating to android 5.0 my s5 starting getting problem,... when I turn on it, comes with a white screen and after it lock it became black and remain like that however everything works call. Watapps sound, etc.
I haven't had any issues with my Verizon Galaxy s5 until after updating to Lollipop 5.0. The default/pre-installed music player crashes very often. It won't start playing until pressing play a number of times, once it finally does play it will stop after the song has finished, if I try to skip a song it will usually crash once I hit the skip button but if I get lucky it will let me skip 4 or 5 songs before giving me the "Unfortunately, Music has stopped" error message.
It does crash sometimes mid song. I'm not sure what the issue is, as I said I haven't had a problem like this before updating. I will also randomly get an error message saying that Contacts has stopped working, which I have seen others report happening, but I haven't seen anything about the music player crashing. I have a 128GB sd card but I don't think that's the issue. Everything has worked fine until this update. Attached is a screenshot of the blank music player after I receive the error message ...
I found a peculiar issue. I found that the weather widget would not update even if I set the refresh interval at an hour or did a manual update. I played with the 3 location settings (high accuracy, power savings, and GPS only) that are new with Kit Kat. I found that none of them worked unless I had my wifi enabled. It did not have to be connected, just enabled. As soon as I enabled wifi it would refresh with no issues.
I disable my wifi when away from my house to save battery, it looks like I won't be able to do this anymore if I want location services to work correctly. I also found that this was impacting my llama application (location specific phone settings).
I just tryed updating to lollipop on my stock s5 and now it stuck in a boot loop is there anyway I could save my pictures on my device or get it out of this loop?
Ive had no problems with my sgs2 since getting it apart from battery life being very poor and only lasting a day at work, so a friend told me to turn on the power saving, i cudnt get along with that as i like my phone bright and fast...so i turned it off.
Since doing this my emails no longer update unless i click refresh in the gmail app? im no longer getting notifications for new emails and i cant find any setting to stop this?
