I have noticed that after I shut down and reboot my phone, even after choosing the wipe cache option prior to restarting, that my previously open apps are still showing in the recent apps screen. Shouldn't they have been cleared after shutting the phone off? I don't know if this started after Lollipop or before.

I've installed Kies with no problems and sync'd everything but there is no option to sync MS Office Tasks. Is this for real? Surely there has to be a way for Kies to sync Office tasks in this so called smart phone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter days of searching I have been successf in syncing contacts, calendar, and tasks on my Samsung Android phone (Galaxy S5) with Outlook 2010 on my Windows 7 Desktop using the following tools and procedure:
Install Samsung's Android "SmartSwitch" app on the phone
Install Samsung's Windows "SmartSwitch" application on the desktop
Configure the Windows "SmartSwitch" application to sync the desired outlook data.After the phone and desktop applications are installed and configured, connect the phone to the desktop using an appropriate USB cable. Windows plug and play may or may not correctly recognize the phone, but the SmartSwitch application should connect to the phone's client app and initiate the data transfer.
On the phone, email, contacts, and calendar applications will readily display and update the Outlook data from your desktop. Unfortunately, accessibility of Outlook's "To Do" task list is somewhat obscure due to Samsung's non-intuitive UI and menu organization.To access Outlook's "To Do" task list, using the phone's Calendar app:
Tap the timeframe (Day, Week, Month, Year) text in the upper left screen header.In the resulting drop-down, tap "Agenda" and the screen will display an agenda of dated Calendar events and "Agenda" in the upper left screen header.Tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper right screen header

I noticed that after going through this process once, when the main display is in "Agenda" mode I have an "Undated" section at the top of the display. When "Undated" is tapped, the section expands to display all of your undated Outlook tasks.how to maintain the Outlook's hierarchy of folder names (the grouping of each task) in the imported data.
How would I remove this but I just think it's massive and I kind of like going in there and seeing a load of Chrome tabs I'd forgotten I'd opened and apps I haven't used in days. Is there any way to remove it on a rooted phone?

View 24 Replies View RelatedWhat is the quickest way to force close an app? I use Groove music and I have to force close it from time to time. I used to be able to swipe down hold down Groove in notification window and click the i and then I have that option.
That doesn't work in the s6 it takes me to notification options.
It's aggravating having to go to settings then applications then find the app and so on and so on.
Is there an easier/quicker way?
Most applications don't seem to have an exit option and the only way I know to close them is the via the "Back" button at bottom right.
In the native Web Browser this button doesn't close the browser but just goes back to the last web page; and then the next last, etc until it runs out of previous pages and then closes.
It's an awful way of closing the browser, going back though all previous pages; and often there are warnings that you may be re-posting data again.
If I press the left menu button I can get to "Windows" and if there are more than one there is a "minus" sign top right allowing it to be closed. But when there is only one window there is no minus sign.
So if I've been doing some interaction with my bank and want to close the single main window I have to select "Menu", "Windows", create a "New window", select the new window, go back to the "Menu" choose "Windows" again, find the minus sign on the original window press to close it, then go back to the new window and press "Back" to close that one.
Is there a way to create a home screen shortcut for the "Close All" I'm not here to debate RAM management and how android handles it, I'm well aware of that, I just want to know if there is a way to create a shortcut for it. I'm also not interested in third party apps.

When I click on a link and that tries to open a new tab, I get an error message that states I have reached my 50 tab maximum. If I just exit the app by pressing the Home button it means that the next time I tap the Internet button it takes me immediately to the last page I was viewing. On the most recent version of the google app i'm getting force closes when I do a "navigate" command for example "navigate home" if I uninstall updates this no longer happens. This command is working fine on my other devices.
Stock Rooted, Canadian S6 (non edge).... Flashed to stock and rerooted. Everything seems fine now.
I get a constant loop of error messages that tell me I need to Force Close. However I am unable to access any of the menus as the loop is continuous (as loops tend to be for any pedants out there!).

Kies will not connect to the phone, it is running to the most up to date version. My phone is currently on Android Version 2.3.3 and on Gingerbread.because it cannot connect to Kies, I cannot run a back up. All my photos and videos are on the phone. I have a 3 month old baby and am desperate to save these. As I cannot back up I am reluctant to perform a factory reset as I am conscious I will lose all the data stored.It randomly turns itself on and off. I am trying to connect my Samsung Galaxy S2 to my computer and keep getting that message.
I go to the task manager and there are no applications running.
my battery is around 30% at the end of the day (average since owning for 2 months). However, 1 day last week I got the force close box come up for TW launcher as I took the phone off charge first thing in the morning. That day my battery was at 52% at the end of the day! I left phone turned on and charged as normal, next day the same, around 50% at end of day (same useage as always, same environment etc). So, next day I turned phone off / on and at end of day battery was around 30% again. To confirm my suspicions I force closed TW launcher and the next day back upto 50% remaining again...

Connected my S5 to charger and left the room, started hearing the Cricket Wireless theme a few minutes later, then again, then again. That was when I discovered I was caught in a reboot loop.

I've gone through most of the posts here regarding this and have at this point:
replace battery with spare (no change)
Recovery Mode - clear cache (no change)
Recovery mode - reset to factory, restore from Google backups (no change)
Recovery Mode - reset to factory, setup as new device (no change)
Disable Wifi - (no change)
Odin + reflash (no change)
Disable wifi (no change)
Disable wifi and LTE data - (no change)
I'm not really sure what to do at this point and am starting to wonder if this is a hardware issue, not software. This phone has never been rooted, and in fact is just under a month old (my previous, never had an issue with it S5 died a horrible death at 25mph from the hood of my car) so didn't even have all of the apps I normally use installed.

The problem: It started with me not being able to connect to the internet on ANY of my apps. No crashes or anything, just no connectivity to the internet. Calls and SMS still worked like normal. After calling sprint support they told me dial ##72786#, which then just simply broke calls and SMS. Now NOTHING works.
What caused the problem: This is where I am most confused. I was trying to setup a VPN (purevpn, to be exact) on my Xbox One. In the process of this, I was modifying my router settings on my Windows 8 PC, plugged in a 2nd router, and constantly turned the wifi off and on. I was using my phone to test if the wifi was still working. (e.g. going to google.com on firefox or launching clash of clans...literally that was it) The only thing that I can think may have messed it up was a step in settings up the VPN. On my computer, after I installed the purevpn software I located myself to "Network and Sharing Center", then clicked "Adapter Settings", then clicked on "Pure VPN", then "Sharing", then checked the box "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection", and lastly from the drop down menu, selected "Local Area Network." This allowed all devices on my network to use the VPN. Somehow this messed up my phone that hard?

Steps I have taken to fix this: I tried rebooting my times a million times. Then I cleared DNS cache in firefox and tried to connect. Then I tried hard rebooting my phone to flush DNS cache. After the factory reboot, my phone is Exactly how it was before the reboot, except I lost all of my stuff.
As the title says, is there any 3-4 way reboot mod for stock ROM around there?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe phone constantly resets when trying to connect to unknown networks that require a password. It took me ages to figure out what was causing it and it's a real pain. You could just be walking down the street and it'll try to connect to a WiFi network that will kick off this constant resetting. You have about a second to turn WiFi off, before the process starts again.
I mention EE as they have their own software variant that enables WiFi calling in the UK, not sure if that's relevant?
