Apr 3, 2015One thing I have just noticed is that setting the phone on Silent Mode using the Mute toggle in the Notification bar, (see screenshots), now allows the Alarm to sound as usual.

Feb 22, 2015The next day, after installing Lollipop 5.0, my alarm did not sound. It went off, but since I keep my phone on silent, it made no noise. It's never done this. I've always left my phone on silent through the night, and my alarm has always went off, nice and loud, waking me up. Not so, since installing Lollypop 5.0. I've smile some experimenting and it works fine in vibrate, so this will have to suffice until a fix is found. I did speak to a Samsung rep at Best Buy yesterday and he told me that they are pulling Lollypop 5.0 and coming out with 5.0.1

May 29, 2015kies advised that a system update was available for my S5 so I updated. Since then, my alarm doesn't sound in silent mode and system doesn't allow me to change sounds of silent mode.

Feb 5, 2015So I updated to android Lollipop this week and things have been going well. Normally when I go to sleep I put my phone in silent mode from the quick toggles in the notification panel. I like silent mode so I don't get vibrate notifications during the night and sounds that would wake me up.
Before the update my alarm which I use in the AM to wake up for work used to work in silent mode and I would hear the alarm. The last 2 nights the alarm goes off but only on the screen and does not make a sound like it used to.

Tests today also showed that when I put it in Silent/Vibrate mode it doesn't vibrate when receiving calls either.However when I select Silent/Vibrate mode it does the little vibrate feedback so its not like the vibrate feature doesn't work at all.

Dec 9, 2014I have a new iPhone 6 with IOS 8.1.2 and have the same problem that affected my previous iphone 4S with IOS 8.1.1: when audio is turned off using the hardware switch on the left side I am still able to play audio from my video library or other apps like whatsapp or similar. Even if I go into settings >> sound and look at ringtones they are able to play (also with earphone). Furthermore it happens that recording videos in silent mode doesn't record the audio but only video.

Jun 19, 2014I am having an issue with the alarm on my iPhone 5c (iOS 7). I have an alarm set for 6 a.m. every weekday. Every morning when I wake up I see a notification that there was an alarm at that time, but it never actually rings. I have my ringer turned off, and the Do Not Disturb set for between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. I would think the alarm would ring through both of these features (and I know it used to on my iPhone 5s) but it is obviously not working.

If I test the alarm during the daytime (with normal phone usage) it works fine, the problem only occurs when the phone is left idle for extended periods.

I know it isn't a problem with the speakers as all my videos play normally with sounds, and when I try to change the ringtone, it plays. However, I cannot adjust the volume using the volume buttons on the side, and the silence switch doesn't work...when I press any of them, there is no on screen confirmation of a change. The ohphone also doesn't play any noise when I have an incoming call or text. But I like I said, I can play videos with sound, I can go to settings and sound and hear the ringtones. I have reset, and restored the phone but nothing has made any difference.
