Eseries / Communicators :: How To Change The Ringing Duration
May 18, 2011
Currently, my E52 rings for about 10-15 seconds if I do not take the call. How can I change this duration (20 seconds would be great)? I've been looking around the options for a good 15 minutes, but no results.
That limit does NOT apply to low-cost s40 devices but s60 Symbian phones like my E55.Problem: In Log menu > Call Duration > Total (All) Calls' Duration, the counter CANNOT exceed 99:99:99, which means 100 hours at total. When you have your total call duration counter over 100 hours, the counter returns back to track call durations from zero, 00:00:00.WHY?Symbian lacks most of this basic features when compared to s40 which is a shame!
after upgrade to firmware 034.001 I noticed problem that after some time (like 1-2days) phone stops ringing on incoming calls. I see that call someone is calling but no sound comes out of phone (I can answer call and all is OK). I tried to change profiles General/Meeting but anyway after change I make test call and still no sound. Only thing that help is switch off and back on.

On the very first startup of the phone after it was bought, it asked to choose a country. I did. Although it's correctly set for now but I have not seen that setting ever again. Is it possible to change the country once you've set it? What if a wrong one gets selected by mistake?

I have a brand new plain E52 with a German firmware (or maybe with a German language pack?). I would like to use the built-in dictionary in order to translate from and to Chinese.Or, more generally, I'd like to read Chinese text, e.g. on web sites. However, the phone is unable to display Chinese characters; all I see are little rectangles instead of the characters.I assume there is a Chinese firmware somewhere. Can I replace the original firmware by a Chinese version? If so, how do I do it?Is there another way to display/write Chinese characters?
I've got some channels saved in my favourites but can't figure out how to change the volume. With FM, it's obvious but not so (to me anyway!) with internet radio.

Our email system allows IMAP connections from mobile devices. It uses secure IMAP and SMTP ports and expects the password to be transmitted in clear text (over the SSL connection).I have been able to access my mail with IMAP using both an E52 and a 5800 with the default installed email application, but I am unable to send mail via SMTP as the password is being transmitted in an incompatible format. Is there an alternative email application that will allow me to fine tune password transmission?

Okay, the night between the 29th and 30th of October meant adjusting for day light saving. Before I went to bed, I set the clock back one hour and made sure that the phone had all automatic time changes OFF since I've had problems before with this (only with Nokia, worth mentioning). On the morning of the 30th, my collegue calls me and wonders if I am at work. Turns out the stupid phone set the time back one hour as well without informing that such a thing would happen! I was one hour late for work and it was all because of the phone! Why did it not say that automatic time changes was planned to occur? And why did it change it even though all automatic changes was turned off?
