Eseries / Communicators :: Deleting Photos From Gallery?
Feb 1, 2011
I use an E73, but searched the forum and know this problem plagues the E72 and maybe other phones, too. In my case, the sequence went like this:1) Receive email with attached pictures2) View each picture3) Press the scroll key while each picture is visible, get a Save prompt, and choose the internal phone memory. A "Saved to Gallery" prompt appears.4) Pictures were written to the root area of C:DataImages and can be viewed in Gallery5) At some later point, delete one or more pictures using File Manager6) Now when running Gallery, placeholders for the images still exist, and trying to delete them results in the a "General: System Error".There is no high level "Refresh" option.
If the pictures were on the SD Card, deleting E:private101ffc31glxmdstn (the card's thumbnail database) would fix this problem, but these pictures are ON THE C: RIVE! Assuming C:Private (which is inacceessible from any file viewer) contains another thumbnail database, my only options appear to be1) Soft reset (Will this work?? Please. no guessing! )2) Hard reset3) Hack the phoneI am using the latest E73 firmware that was released just a couple weeks ago. Does anybody with an E72 (etc.) know if this problem was already fixed for other Nokia phones?I made a short list of E73 bugs here: /t5/Eseries-and-Communicators/Some-E73-044-088-firmware-bugs/m-p/904401#M83905 but this may actually be the worst bug of all because there is seemingly no workaround.
I got the phone from a friend of mine, who took off his memory card. I put a new memory card.In the gallery there is over 700 images indexed, which does not exist anymore(they were on the old memory card). When I try to delete them I got the following message:"General: System error"I have tried the following:
- Create a folder named: I:Imagescamera201006201006a0 (for June 2010) and placed an image file with the following name: 06062010085.jpg - unsuccessful
- Delete(rename) some files(folders) located in "Private" folder - I read that these files contains the index data - unsuccessful
- Reset the phone to factory settings - unsuccessful
Now that Samsung in their INFINITE wisdom has taken out the menu button. How to delete photos directly from Gallery? No.. not from File Manager or 3rd party software. Just the standard Gallery App that came default. If I wanted to go through my pictures and delete certain ones, then how? I can hold down on some pics and tag/select. There is a SHARE button on there but nothing else. No editing, No rotate option, no print, no move options. NOTHING.
I replaced the original memory card on my E5 with a new, larger one. All OK, except I lost the media gallery preloaded on the first card, of which the pictures were the most important. Problem is I used that card on another phone and formatted it since, so I can't recover the files from there. Is there any way to download that gallery anywhere? If not, I would be very grateful to any kind soul who could create an archive from his or her phone and post it somewhere for me to get to.
the gallery app which was included isn't showing any pictures, which is extremly annoying, because many apps, like facebook apps, just show a black screen when I select "upload from gallery" If I open up the Gallery app the screen is just black and no pictures are displayed, only the exit and option buttons. Same problem is with the video app... I've already reseted it three times, but still no change.... And the crazy thing is, that with the photo browser app I'm able to see the pictures... Also there's a problem with switching the ring and alarm-tone. Exactly the same thing, I Do have music on my phone and the player is working... But I can't choose another tone for alarmtone, won't open fricking folder.
For some strange reason when I put my memory card into a new E72 when viewing pictures previously saved on to the memory card the images are showing incredibly blurry and sizes range between 1kb and 3kb, the pictures look fine as a thumbnail, and its as if the picture is saved as the thumbnail.
However when viewing through file manager or trough my laptop the images are perfectly sized memory and when opened they aren't blurry at all they are back to normal.
I have already attempted removing images from memory card, putting them back on, moving to phone memory and trying to view them there, but it's the same.
using latest firmware in my e55, i found out that the images which are taken horizontally (wide) is rotated "clockwise" ingallery when you want to view image vertical instead of horizontal which is not the desired. It must be rotated "anti-clockwise".
It seems I cannot delete individual folders on the E7-00 mass memory. I mis-spelled a folder name and wanted to delete it. You can only select multiple folders and not individual folders to delete or rename.
Had to use USB connection via Windows 7 to delete folder on phone mass memory.
I have an E72 where i backed up phone memory onto memory card. It is saved as backup.arc and can be seen when in PC suite, but now I cannot delete this because it says it is 'write-protected'.......... The size is 175mb, which is alarming.I am unable do any 'slider thingy' because it is a micro sd card with no adapter. Seriously, it is very very plain!I do not want to reformat it because i do not want to lose any Ovi maps and frankly, E72 has a LOT of software problems, I do not want to risk it (i set up a ringtone which also caused the inability to ever change it.... unless I saved a song as something...transfered it elsewhere...save it again etc etc, point is I am aware how nasty it gets, so, no formatting advice unless you guarantee there'll be no errors!)
one of the first bits of software that I installed on my E72 was the custom dictionary editor from Nokia Labs. Its been a great **bleep** on my earlier E63 and I naturally wanted it on my E72 However I noticed that there are words being added (by my keyboard mistakes) that DO NOT APPEAR in the custom dictionary. For example I managed to add [URL] to my dictionary? is there any other way to blast the custom dictionary?
how to prevent image gallery from create folders for every year-month. It creates so many folders that becomes hard to synchronize and manage all those folders.
This should be easy to find, but I must be a complete dunce because I can't find it in the user's manual or anywhere else. How does one transfer photos from the phone to a PC using the USB cable. I emailed support about this, but the only replies I got were one, to install Nokia Ovi Suite on the PC, which is not a good solution, because often it is necessary to transfer photos to computers that don't have that software installed. Or second, to connect using mass storage mode. The problem with that is that mass storage mode can only access the memory card, but the camera stores the photos in phone memory. I was able to successfully download a few photos by clicking on options/organize which gave the option of moving the photo to the memory card from where it could be downloaded. Now however, I find that that option has disappeared for recent photos, and options/organize only offers the option of "create new folder". how to perform the simple task of transferring my photos to a PC? (I don't have Bluetooth).
Any photos or backgrounds I put on my memory card are not viewable in the image gallery and If I move a image from the phone memory to my memory card in the image gallery It just disappears. I tested the memory card in another phone and it works fine
When I connect my E52 to the pc to upload my photos and videos it says that "no new pictures or videos were found on this device". had a similar problem with their E52? It usually upload without too much trouble.
I have updated to Belle a couple of days ago. However, Belle still comes with an outdated Social Client, namely v1.3. Meanwhile, the Nokia Store already offers v1.5: [URL] However, [URL] reports that Belle has generally problems with sharing photos from the gallery:[URL]I have NOT been able to confirm this issue with Belle and the older Nokia Social v1.3 installed.
I have with my Nokia E7. I am not receiving pictures via text message but I can receive text based text messages. I can send pictures and texts though.
cannot edit photos using the inbuilt e5 photo editor this happened after i installed camera application? from ovi store i have removed this one however ven i open photos for editing and xselect apply effects nothing happens 2 shud i reinstall the phone software .... i want to avoid that coz it took hours to update the filmware from nokia server which is very slow also does anyone know a good mp3 player that can be installed on e5
i have read on net about symtorrent a torrent application for symbian devices ....is such a application safe
I read that if I remove my original pictures from my S6, all those pictures will be removed from my google photos as I am interacting with the cloud--instead of just my android phone. But I need to clear up some space on my 64gb phone.
Does anyone know how to delete the date marker 'slides' that get automatically created in the 808's photo gallery? I can't seem to delete them and after moving all of my photos across to my PC tonight I am left with a right old mess of markers in the gallery.I suspect that they might actually be JPG files because I've occasionally seen them copied across to my SkyDrive Camera Roll folder.
I recently upgraded my defy (with optus) to android 2.2 and haven't had many issues.
One thing that bugs me is when i take images with my camera now, they don't appear in the gallery. The small diplay on the bottom left displays the image but as soon as i click on it to view the image it appears to delete it.
I have a problem trying to see my photos after taking them. Can take them using the camera. Can preview the photos but when i want to see them, "goto photos" option opens up a entirely blank screen. Trying to access it via the menu opens up a blank screen but with the "Photos" heading seen.
