Cseries :: Nokia C3-00 Sound Quality Differences In Firmware?
Oct 21, 2012
I have C3-00 with firmware v8.71. I noticed that when making or receiving a call, even with the volume set to 10 bars, when someone is standing next to me, he cannot hear the voice of the one am talking to. My friend has C3-00 with firmware V8-63, when he receives or makes a call, when you are standing next to him, you can hear the voice of the person he is talking to and you can reduce the volume in order for somone next to you not to ehar what you are discussion. Is it about the firmware or is it just my phone?I want to know so if I have to reverse back to V8.63 by flashing the phone or maintaining V8.71.

Has anyone else noticed this?, I've tried various music (encoded at different rates which sound fantastic on other audio equipment) and different headphones (via both sockets on the phone). My mate who is in a band and heavily into audiophile stuff agrees that the sound quality is terrible. My old w810i is far better. The top end is to harsh but without any definition and whenever I use one of the EQ settings the music seems to get muddied up and even slightly louder and quieter in sections. I am wondering if this either a bad phone or something to do with the firmware that O2 (UK) uses (I know they alter it as google maps and wayfinder aren't installed). I have used the update service which states I am running the latest firmware. The phone is going back but if the next one is the same then I may have to move phones.

I have an N79 handset and I'm thinking of upgrading it to N86.The problem is that some people say that the nokia n86 sound is way low (I'm not sure about that) but I didn't reach a comparison between the N79 sound loudness and the N86 sound loudness. Can someone tell me which handset has a better sound quality and loudness?
I need a really quick reply.

As a happy N95 8GB (heavy) user I had high hopes for my N86 upgrade (after extensive research and satisfied it would fulfill my all-one-needs, I was rubbing my hands in gleefull expectation). Save for the numerous allusions to poor sound quality, I had high hopes.
Sadly, how wrong I could be.O2 delivered my N86 last week, and I was instantly disappointed - in fact, quite taken aback - by the genuinely AWFUL, tinny, quality of the calls and even worse, the loudspeakers (plus the underpowered processor). I promptly sent the phone back, assuming I'd been sent of a 'dodgy' handset, and today, took delivery of a brand new handset: to my surprise, it has exactly the same problem.
I've only ever used Nokia phones, I very rarely post to forums, but feel compelled to do so as I find it surprising that, with such great technology to hand, Nokia could release a handset with speakers and a sound chip of such poor, tinny, quality. Clearly pocketability and reducing the phone's size-profile has been prioritised over speaker size and overall sound quality.
A further scour around these discussion groups and forums elsewhere confirms I'm not alone: other n86 users are becoming progressively clued up to the fact that whilst it's a good, if not spectacular, phone - pleasing wide-angle camera, feels good in the hand (if a little top heavy, and not as easy to text as the N95), robust, generally quite satisfactory - and, of course, for those few of us left that like traditional buttons - it generally ticks all the boxes.
But I couldn't bear to use this phone day in, day out, which such risible sound quality.Surely such issues would be addressed in iminent firmware upgrades? Speaking to someone who works at Nokia directly, and looking at the bugs the latest firmware DOES fix, it doesn't appear sound is on the menu (although I could be wrong). Of course, I'm sure will be addressed in time - Nokia must be aware of the general feedback related to the sound issue (!?) - but I would rather not wait.
Additionally, the phone is underpowered. I could probably live with a little slugishness, as I expect that will definately be fixed in time. But I can't live with talking to someone like they're under a duvet (admittedly, not that I have much experience of talking to someone under a duvet) or straining to hear a word said when I'm using the phone outside, with the loudspeaker is turned up to max.
Maybe I've been spoilt with great quality sound on the N95 (which fits into my pocket just perfectly, Nokia!), but I would - personally, in my view, in my humble opinion and all that - struggle to believe the N86 was thoroughly roadtested with call quality as a priority?Maybe other's will disagree - the above is just my experience. Back to my N95.

When I bought my E63 I noticed that while on my previous phone the sound got all distorted when I tried to record a loud live performance, it sounded pretty good on the E63, even if the concert got loud. Since that discovery I usually record one of two songs of a show I visit as a souvenir. It's become quite a big thing for me.Now the E63 has a pretty mediocre camera, so I'm thinking about upgrading to a model with a better one. Of course it is essential that this new phone can record loud sound (110 dB and over) as good or even better than my current E63. I know that this is not a given from people with iPhones or phones from HTC: all they get is when they try to record loud sound is distortion.are newer Nokia models still as good at recording loud (rock and metal show) sound and is there some technical spec that I can check to make sure this is the case?

In my Nokia C5-00 Chat is not loading & I contacted Nokia Care they wasted my 5 Hours of Time and the end result is nothing. One more probem with Nokia C5-00 is it's poor audio quality, I unable to hear properly because of low volume / sound. Nokia Care Support team told me for Nokia C5-00 the quality is like that only, we can't do any thing.

Have a BH-905i connected to Windows 7 laptop (x86) with the broadcomm bluetooth suite. I have the Audio Sink, Headset, Remote Control and Remotly Controllable Device Bluetooth services available in Windows 7 for this device and ticked.
When I use Windows Media player the audio quality is great, but whenever I use a VOIP application (e.g. Lync), the playback and microphone quality are terrible and I reportedly sound like I am in a tunnel.

We have the set of default ringtones from both Windows Phone and Nokia pre installed and those from Insider app. I made many custom ringtones, but none of them has the quality and sound that of preinstalled or Insider ringtones. I tried with Mp3 at 320 bit rate and as well as WMA. What is the best format for the custom ringtone which can match with the pre installed one???? without this info the custom ringtones are waste of time..............

I'm base in Sydney Australia and have just received a msg from Nokia that I can update my firmware for my N900.(firmware version 10.2010.19.)The problem is that I receive a message that I could not update because of: poor-quality ,slow or intermittent internet connection. This could also be because of problems with our servers. Is it that NSU does not support N900 and if so why would Nokia sell a phone and not provide software to update the phone with.

I was updating my Nokia C5-00 (RM-645) from Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.90 (latest downloaded today). I was updating to latest release of 071.005. C5-00 battery was fully charged and I was updating through my laptop. Nokia Ovi suite downloaded firmware (some 128mb). while installing after some 4-5 min in the midway of installing it noticed "something wrong". It instructed me to remove micro usb from phone and reconnect it. I did like that again and again it gave same instructions and at last nothing happened.
Now my phone is switched off and it's not getting on... I can feel the vibration when I press Power on button but It's not working and even I tried (*+3+Green+Power on) button combition to reset, even that's also not working.. Now if I connect to Ovi suite, my phone is not ditected by Ovi suite. what I have to do now?

In general, I'm satisfied with my phone and I had no big problems except this one. The problem started a while ago. Sometimes, when someone is calling and I answer, there's no sound, I mean - they can hear me, but I can't hear them. If I try to call back, I still don't get any incoming sound. After I restart mobile phone or turn it offline and then back online, then everything is alright, at least for some time. The problem is definitely in my phone, not in others. This have occured when I have been called from different phones. This bug is unpredictable. I mean, it can happan like a several times a day or few times a month. Right now, it's happaning quite often .I have updated firmware and, I think, I have now latest firmware. What could be the problem? Can it be fix with some software or I have to take it back to the shop and ask them to change it?

Besides totally free navigation (saving 10€ per year), what benefits are there upgrading to 3.03? I use both 3.01 and 3.03 in two E66s side by side, and so far I don't see what is better in 3.03 in normal car navigation. How come 3.03 does not have predictive country/city/street name search anymore? In 3.01 it is very handy if you are not quite sure how the city or street name is written (especially abroad), or you are not quite certain of the name of the street you are trying to find. Why was this dropped from 3.03, or am I using 3.03 wrong way? Unlike some, fortunately I at least seem to get street name searches ok also in 3.03 offline mode. One more thing, does it matter whether you download maps to either 3.01 or 3.03 through OVI suite or PC Suite/OVI map loader? OVI suite map loader has never really worked for me, I am unable to download anything from it. PC Suite variant works more reliably, just downloaded all maps and voices to E66 3.03 over night.

I have bought a new iPhone 3GS.. but I got very very disappointed with the sound quality of headphones. I already have an iPod shuffle 1GB, and it sounds like awesome... In the comparison of my iPod, the iPhone sounds only abt 30-35%... Can anybody tell me the solution of this problem or I have to sacrifise..?Help me guys please bcz I believed that apple products like iPods (all models) and iPhones (all models) have the equal sound quality... I collected the money for iPhone for more than two years and music is my passion...

My xperia ray has good sound quality on the external speaker regarding hights. Female voices for example sound fine. But on a good headphone (i use the beyerdynamic DTX 101 IE and tried others) heights quality is sub-par. Now i am wondering, did Sony use bad hardware here or bad software? Is there any chance this can be fixed with an update?I really like the phone but this bothers me a bit especially as the phone plainly has the technology to recreate the sound adequately (the speaker works fine).

I've had my Blackberry for over six months, but I've always had a problem with the quality/clarity of the audio in incoming phone calls. It's very difficult to understand the person on the other end -- particularly, but not only, if the person has an accent of any sort. I want to use the Blackberry as my primary phone, but I can't "get" half of what my callers are saying to me.
