Jan 2, 2012I am having difficulties with Opera and the base Nokia browser working properly. They lock up don't complete loading etc. Is there a fast one that actually works?

Cseries :: C2-02 Browser Not Working Since Update?
Apr 14, 2012yesterday an update became available for the browser of my C2-02. I downloaded it but installation failed. Since then, whenever I touch "Internet" icon in the menu (or "Store"), nothing happens, even after several minutes. The icon is highlighted as soon as I tap it, but the app never starts.I reinstalled the software but nothing happened. I restored phone original settings, but it still doesn't work.I had a backup of a couple days ago and restored it too, still no luck.

Dec 16, 2012I have been able to get into the internet without any problem, but I find that I can only type the domain (www.....) - it does not let me type any other information. So I cannot write things, post or access mail, for example, because that requires you to actually type things. All this browser lets me do is hover over the box where you type things in, but not actually type anything on it.

Mar 6, 2011Mainly happens while on facebook mobile, and will occure while typing completely randomly. The reply from support is simply update software, I can't see why I have to do all this, as apart from anything else I don't currently have a phone line for internet due to illegal BT sales activity! It is also suggested that I send phone off in a jiffy bag to be repaired if unsuccessful, and what do I do for a phone in the mean time?? Not only that they suggest that it will cost me if it is not a fault they cover.

Mar 19, 2012The browser on my Nokia 701 is great -certainly much better than past versions- but websites 'see' it as a full size browser and so deliver it full size web pages. I have found this leads to much dragging and zooming. If the site also has pop-ups (which can fully obscure the screen!) this can lead to misclicks, impossible to navigate sites etc. Also full size webpages are slow to load and more expensive on data.
This issue has led me to either manually navigating to the mobile versions of the websites I like (bit of a pain) or to simply use the Opera Mini browser instead. The Opera browser is free and websites 'recognise' it as a mobile browser. This means without any work when I surf I instantly get the mobile version of the website I want (assuming one exists), easy to navigate and fast (and so cheaper) to load. In many cases this works much better for me.
So I think Nokia have missed a trick here. Maybe they should offer a feature whereby the user can tell their browser to find either mobile-friendly pages or normal ones. They could even add in a second browser shortcut, one which launches the Nokia browser in a 'mobile' mode.
Now running a 701, beautiful phone to handle and use...now that it has stopped sending my personal information to Nokia via 360Panel [rolls eyes]
