I tried to bridge my friend's BB 8830 to my Playbook, but when I tried to download the bridge app, BB App World says it is not available for that phone or carrier. Since we are on the same carrier, I am assuming this means the 8830 is not compatible with BB Bridge.

My smart phone - the bold 9000 - is tethered to the playbook; I can access app world from my phone; My phone is on a 3G network.
The message I get is that I am not connected via Wifii and cannot access app world. But, if I can access the internet, why can't I access app world?
I couldn't find the icon for Blackberry App World, so I downloaded it and installed the latest version.I still can't see the icon.

"blackberry app world:research in motion limited" contains a different verion of "module net_rim_bb_appworld_usb" which is also used by "blackberry app world." If you procees blackberry app world may cease to fucntion properly.

It has served me well in India and other countries in that a local simm card could be used to reduce roaming charges. Recently in Africa I had no service. It also prompted to insert a simm card. The moment I returned to Toronto I had full service again. Would an operating system update fix this new bug ? If so, is where can I download the fix?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted my HTC M8 (Carrier - 3) and am trying to remove the carrier boot animation. I already like the HTC/Android bot animation I already have, it's just that the carrier boot animation gets in the way. I don't need to change or replace the boot animation in any way whatsoever - I just want to REMOVE the carrier boot animations.
Upon navigating my way through System>Customize>Resource I find the following folders:
- hTC_bootup_one.zip
- hTC_downanimation.zip
- H3GAT_bootanimation.zip
- H3GAT_downanimation.zip
- H3GIT_bootanimation.zip
- H3GIT_downanimation.zip
- H3GUK_bootanimation.zip
- H3GUK_downanimation.zip
Now, assuming I am correct that the files beginning with "H3G" are the carrier boot animations, I have proceeded to go ahead and delete all of them, except the files starting with "hTC". Upon rebooting my phone, the carrier boot animation is still present, and when navigating back to the Resource folder, the "H3G" have magically reappeared. Now I'm a little annoyed.
So I turn back and head into the CID folder and play around with the XML files. When entering the CID folder, as well as the default.xml file, I find the following:
- H3G_001.xml
- H3G_106.xml
- H3G_402.xml
- H3G_G04.xml
I try deleting the H3G xml files as well as the H3G ZIP files and reboot. Still no luck as the files reappear again.
This time, I try to go into the H3G xml files and replace the coding for the H3G boot animation with the hTC boot animations. After another reboot, still no change.
I am attempting to help a friend and also satisfy my curiosity. She has a Samsung "Rant" through carrier Sprint. She said that after her phone was turned off for non-payment, she can no longer use the phone. She claims she has been remotely locked out, as if you set a security lock code and forgot it, that kind of locked out. She swears the company locked her out to keep her from getting at her contacts. Is this even possible? I googled and the only thing I can find is blacklisting lock outs using the ESN, which I already realize. But to actually lock the hardware remotely, is another thing. I know they can remotely unlock. What is her best option to recover those important numbers, and do all carriers actively do this sort of thing (if it's even true?)
I bought a BB Curve 9330 UNLOCKED. Its a Sprint phone but my carrier is T-Mobile. From my understanding, all I needed to do was put in my SIM card and I would be set. Well, there's no place to put my SIM card so how do I get onto my network and be able to get phone calls, texts, etc?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an unlocked T-Mobile 9700 that I'm using on Cincinnati Bell Wireless.At certain points I still see T-Mobile screens or software displays - when I first open up the browser, when the phone first reboots, etc.It happens quickly and doesn't really bother me, I was just curious if certain software stuff like that was permanently set into the phone's OS even though it is unlocked and working well on another carrier..(I upgraded to .593 yesterday.)

I unlock a blackberry 8830 verizon wireless World Edition celluar phone to be used with GSM but after unlcoking i install the sim card and then change the mode from global to GSM only but the phone has no Signal at all, do any of you a solution to this problem ?if i change the mode to global the phone has signal and the sim card that i am putting in there is acxtivated and properly working.

Thankfully I was able to find most of the apps I downloaded in the download folder, but one of them reset and I don't have the activation code or the record that I bought that particular app since my world has no record of it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a blackberry curve 9360 and I go though t-mobile. I have been trying to download the latest update to BBM and it won't download. I click on the "upgrade" button, it says please wait, then nothing. It does the same for the app world update. I've spoken to my carrier and they say it's something on rim's side that they can't fix. Everything else on the phone is working just fine.
