recently my phone has not been connecting to my laptop. It connects to other computers using the same cable but it just doesnt seem to work on any usb port on my laptop.When i do plug my phone to my laptop, the laptop simply acts as a outlet and carges it.
There are no prompts whatsoever on my phone, laptop or on desktop manager when its plugged in.
I have rebooted my phone, restarted my laptop, gave "microsoft fix-it" a shot at fixing tis problem, but nothing works.

Sep 23, 2012I have a curve 8520 and i'm trying to connect it to my computer using an usb cable. But everytime i connect it nothing happens but my phone charges. I've tried re-installing desktop manager several times and i've changed the options in the 'memory' menu but nothing works. I know there is some connection between my phone and my computer because it charges, but no message pops up (I've read somewhere that a message should pop up about mass storage).

Consisting of:

Software Platform: 5.2.0.67

After it rebooted. I add more applications without setting the language in my handheld first. And this is where the problem begin. The screen is just stuck with the page to choose language to be used in handheld and cannot be navigated at all. I also cannot connect it to my computer. I tried battery pulled and let the battery run out then pull and recharge again. It always come up with the same screen.

Oct 25, 2011I've removed the battery and replaced it numerous times. Yesterday, my daughter bought a new battery, did not solve my problemI've searched this site as intensely as I can over the course of 2 1/2 days.I am retired on disability pension. When I can't get to my laptop, my BlackBerry is my only connection to help if I need it.Day before yesterday, I was on the browser when the phone froze. I did a soft reboot, the screen went black, and the phone has not come back on since. The light in the upper right corner blinks red once, pauses, blinks 3 times in a row, then pauses for a few more seconds before repeating the sequence.The phone will not show "connected" to either BlackBerry Desktop Manager nor to my laptop. I've been through a couple of "troubleshooting" flow charts but they all require that my phone "connect" to continue with the flow chart instruction but the phone will not "connect".

When I input the password set for the 8250 it will not allow connection to desktop. I have never set a password in 'Desktop' and have even tried uninstalling and then reinstalling it but each time I attempt to connect it rejects the link. Any ideas as to where I can get hold of guidance on how to get past this problem as it is preventing me from using the Blackberry fully?

Last night I used my USB cable to charge my phone through my laptop, which worked fine. Tonight I have gone to do the same and my computer couldn't recognise my device.I've tried re-installing itunes, deleting USB ports, restarting my phone and computer, updated my computer. I have a Blackberry Pearl 8230 with a 4G data card that I can't use, because I cannot connect my blackberry to the computer! It's plugged in with the USB cable, and the device charges, but the Desktop software never recognizes the device. It doesn't say "a new device has been added", and the Desktop software just says "Please connect your device". My husband has a blackberry that seems to connect no problem.
I wondered if there were issues connecting 2 devices to the same computer, so I connected my blackberry to my laptop and still no dice.I've taken my BlackBerry to the Telus store, and they have no issues with connections.
They upgraded the software on the BlackBerry for me but it still refuses to connect to the computer.What am I doing wrong? This is a fresh computer with a brand new download of Desktop software (just downloaded the other day).Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm getting rather annoyed at this point.

Aug 8, 2012I have been having this issue for a while on my Torch 9850. It will only charge the battery when connected to a computer. I have bought several USB cables including one specified for charging. I have replaced the battery with a new one, bought high mAH wall charger and car charger (2 amp and 5 amp), and used several other chargers from friends phones on several other outlets. It will charge on my PC, my laptop, Windows or Linux, but thats a real pain when my truck is my office.
